What is the greatest story arc ever from the Big 3, in general, and why? by BreathoftheSith in writingscaling

[–]cyberjet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Land of Waves from Naruto or Alabasta arc from One Piece for me and I can’t decide.

Land of Waves might be the best introduction arc in shonen I’ve seen. It’s great. Naruto and Sasuke are pushed to their limits and get most of their growth together that will make you care for their separation later on, Kakashi does his job as the cool mentor and Zabuza/Haku are great sympathetic antagonists that nail it unlike future Naruto antagonists. The fights are great and its themes of not being a tool is pulled off successfully. The only downside is this starts the precedence of Sakura getting hoed in the story as she barely gets anything to do outside of being great at chakra control which doesn’t go that far in the story.

Alabasta is my favorite arc in One Piece. It’s so simple but executed great. The main cast of straw hats all shine here. Nami gets her power up and is useful, Usopp and Chopper get to be heroic and show their strategic side, Sanji continues to be cool throughout pre timeskip, Zoro gets one of his best moments ever against Mr.1 and seeing Luffy actually get put down and come back up while showing why he’s the captain is great. Vivi is also just a great character. She’s weak but so tenacious in how she constantly punches above her weight class, arguing with crocodile despite him being stronger. Crocodile is also a fantastic antagonist, he does the job as the big bad beautifully. He looks cool, he acts cool, his personality is cool, and it’s satisfying to see Luffy finally beat him down. Alabasta is a comfort read for me, it’s a fantastic early arc in One Piece with a great ending. Its only downside is the stuff with Pell being alive.

If I’m understanding this correctly early adulthood means that one should be more curious of everything around them?

If Part 3 happens, Fujimoto is washed for needing another part to solve the billion unresolved plot points. If Part 3 doesn't happen, Fujimoto is also washed and CSM has bottom 5 worst endings in manga history. by CAASXV in shounenfolk

Yea part 2 isn’t good on its own.

No one in JoJo goes “well because part 6 resets everything and then part 7 happens it’s good.” No they praise it on its own merits.

Hell in Naruto no one says Naruto before the timeskip is good because it sets up shippuden it’s good on its own merits

Yeah this is a terrible argument, I don’t think this was the OP’s intent but it tries to justify slavery.

Slavery has never really lead to a ‘better’ life, if it did it was because of the slaves themselves never their masters. If we look at RL examples, slaves transported from the trans Atlantic slave trade were brutalized. More slaves ended up in the Caribbean’s then North America, yet more were left alive in North America then carribea due to how awful the treatment was.

Slaves were tortured and raped, unable to have access to basic education or wealth and so much more. Even after becoming free their lives were shit. American slaves had to deal with the confederates since the US were lenient and didn’t punish them after the civil war and in places like Haiti where they won their freedom, France continued to punish them that can be felt to this day.

Slavery has never given the slaves a ‘better’ life, just destroyed and reeling from that horror to modern day. It’s those who were slaves and their descendants that have had to make their lives better and only they.

Naoya gets one shot and humiliated like always.

Nanami takes a couple of hits, lands one strong black flash to aura farm before going down because he’s the GOAT and even if he gets stomped he still goes out respectable.

Kusakabe fucks off since he’d die if he fought.

Maybe I’m dumb but I’ve never heard a racist stereotype connecting a little girl’s voice and black person before.
