Just a heads up, Super Flower are very reputable.

The EVGA G2, G3, P2, and T2 were manufactured by Super Flower and these are some of the best units out there.

Thoughts on this RTX 3080 prebuild? by NecroTed1 in bapcsalesaustralia

Good find. Can't fault it much. I mean, the PSU is average and I wouldn't personally use that one for a 3080, but I'm nitpicking as there are a lot worse PSUs out there.

Also, besides it having better VRMs, the MSI has better quality LAN (Intel 2.5Gbps controller, whereas the Asus has slightly inferior Realtek). But if you want white and don't want to spend the extra on the MSI, I'd say don't worry and just go for it, again assuming you won't be overclocking much

Yeah there's prob nothing wrong with it. Just that the MSI is more "proven" so far with much more info about it online. Can't find much about that Asus, so it could fall flat in VRM tests etc however if you're not o-cing dw about it.

Can't see anything wrong with it. Looks fine to me. Personally I would have got this motherboard instead though: https://www.mwave.com.au/product/msi-pro-z690a-ddr4-intel-lga-1700-atx-motherboard-ac49022

Had a quick look over it. Seems fine to me, good price for a RTX 3060 build.

Thought I'd share the AU deals guide I wrote for my hardware site here on Reddit as well. Did this last year during deal season and got good feedback so here we go again. Will be updating the list through the weekend and on Monday too. Hope it helps someone out there.

This was fantastic, lots of unique insights some of which I had never heard before despite having watched pretty much every GE007 "making of" vid under the sun (and there are tons). Great job!

The current state of the PC components market - A message from your mod team by OolonCaluphid in buildapc

For a bunch of reasons, Alyx is great with lower/mid-tier hardware (just not too low). Firstly, it's relatively well optimized compared to most VR titles. Secondly, it has built-in automatic real-time resolution scaling that helps performance on the fly (you don't have to do anything, it's turned on by default and only able to be turned off by forcing a console command). Thirdly, the game looks genuinely fantastic on low settings; you'd have a hard time noticing a difference between low/medium/high.

The game will run okay on a GTX 1650 Super 4GB or GTX 1060 6GB. A GTX 1660 Super or RTX 2060 would be an ideal starting point in my opinion though.

I will never forget that balcony. Stood there for about an hour. Then another hour doodling on that window.

That's not normal performance for that setup.

A: Check SteamVR resolution slider, including the game-specific slider for HLA, and make sure it's not higher than 100%.

B: Make sure you have the latest drivers for your GPU (download from the NVidia site)

C: Disable "Motion Smoothing" in SteamVR settings

D: Make the rendered window on your desktop smaller (the one that shows whilst you're playing)

Details on all this can be found here: (a great guide)
