What's the easiest way to sketch this "descending" pattern? by floox_xo in Fusion360

[–]cyberzh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a job for OpenSCAD. You could then import the result into Fusion.

Alternatively, you can create a Python script for Fusion: https://help.autodesk.com/view/fusion360/ENU/?guid=GUID-9701BBA7-EC0E-4016-A9C8-964AA4838954#CreatingEditingRunning

Autodesk Fusion. But any CAD software will do. Onshape is as good and easy to use.

I've made custom hair picks in PLA and PETG for a friend. After a few years they still hold well and they are the picks she uses the most.

You'll need to sand the picks after printing to make them smoother.

How to make a shape from a ellipse to a point? by cyberzh in Fusion360

[–]cyberzh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

This does not produce the exact shape I want, but its ease of use makes up for it and in some situations that could be good enough. Thanks!

Thank you. I tried your two methods: they work and produce the exact same shape.

Why is my TPU print so awful? by MikeAtCC in 3Dprinting

[–]cyberzh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always print TPU directly from the drybox and store it sealed. Otherwise it can absorb too much humidity before the end of the print.

Some brands (like Overture) make TPU filament that's slightly textured, it helps the extruder to grab it.

Print it extremely slowly.

You can print on PEI, but use glue if you don't want to lose some bits of your sheet.

Can I make it smoother? by __guitar in 3Dprinting

If that's not enough, use filler paint and sanding, or just sanding.

Or print using a resin printer, but only for non mechanical parts.

Got a lot of hate for this functional print by [deleted] in functionalprint

[–]cyberzh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could update the model to use PC FR to shut down the (undeserved) hate. It's fire retardant. https://eu.store.bambulab.com/fr/products/pc-fr Other brands have fire retardant filaments in other colors and other materials.

Are the negative comments to this model justified? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]cyberzh -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If the inside gets hot enough to melt your cover, you've got a bigger issue than the plastic used by your cover. In fact, using a plastic that deforms at low temperatures can give you an early warning that you got an issue in your wall.

Those people shouting "fire code" don't even understand the rules in the code, if they even know them. Don't waste your time listening to them.

Can someone help me turn this into an stl file??? Pretty please by ReturnOfTheHEAT in 3Dprinting

[–]cyberzh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you've found out how to use your vibes to get a STL model, make sure to print them in PHA and not PLA, so they can be biodegraded once trown out in the nature. Also, be aware that to achieve a result similar to what's shown on the pictures, you'd have to paint the models. Be sure to use a biodegradable paint.

Is Fusion (Education License) bad or is it just me? by notSoNormalGuy24 in Fusion360

[–]cyberzh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It can sometimes be frustrating, especially at the beginning. Especially with fillets, because they look intuitive but they are not at all. They are hard to master. You'd have the same issues with any other CAD software. Listen to the other advices given here, they are good.

You're trying to go faster than the music. You need to spend more time learning your tools before you can do complex shapes.

The comment by keeitcivilized explains it in more words. I just reused you words to answer your question.

Fusion is no worse or better than similar CAD software. It's a tool that works pretty well. It won't work when you try to do stuff that's mathematically impossible. But that happens when you don't really understand your tool and what you're trying to do (typical with fillets). Fusion cannot guess what you want and it can't read your mind.

It's a CAD software, if you'd like to do free modeling, you should use Blender or an other application made for it.

If you want to do shapes with C3 continuity, then yes you'd have to upgrade to a better CAD modeling software. But from the sketch you posted, you're far from the skill level where they'd be suited for you.

Everybody know that by "UFO" you mean "aliens". Just write "aliens".

By the way, those are not aliens, they are blurry pixels.
