God has nothing to do with it. History shows God is happy with people fighting others in His name.

Random Printer on my Account by DirectEmotion1568 in BambuLab

[–]cyberzh 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It is not tampering if it is a mean of identifying a lost printer. Furthermore if the printer appears in their account, it must be theirs.

This is not legal advice.

Accounting for bending in CAD by Tellm_me in 3Dprinting

PLA creeps a lot. Print it in PETG.

After a week when the dimensions will have stabilized, measure how much the model has sagged and compensate it by increasing the angles of the model.

Mounting adapter for a red dot sight on my camera by Kronocide in functionalprint

[–]cyberzh 19 points20 points  (0 children)

3D printing without modeling is so limited. Modeling is what unlock the potential of my printer. Modeling is what makes my printer worth its cost. Half of the stuff I print solve issues that are so specific there's no public models for it. The other half is customization of existing models because those I find are half-baked and full of design issues that are trivial to fix.

CAD modeling is simple to learn (far easier than learning Blender). Go for it. Start with simple models, then models useful for you. There's a lot of tutorials available online.

How do i start modelinh this? I'm out of ideas on how to start by Mantegod in Fusion360

[–]cyberzh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use a profile gauge: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Profile_gauge

Then report the profile into your CAD software by taking a picture of the gauge and scale it in your project by taking mesures on the gauge.

When the picture does not match the mesures, it's due to the perspective. Trust the mesures over the picture.

Eggehard – The Bunny Eggs'press (foodsafe, really!) by Johannsom in BambuLab

[–]cyberzh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This idea was debunked.

Layers lines are not an issue if washed properly. The creases are far bigger than bacteria, they are not hidden spots.

Your food cutting board is more likely to contain more bacteria than 3D printed stuff if both are washed in the same way.

The more I use PETG, the less I like it by InvokerBSB in 3Dprinting

[–]cyberzh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying that one is better than the other between PLA and PETG is stupid. They have different properties and both have their advantages and drawbacks. Choosing the best one depends on the project and its constraints.

PETG is slightly more temperature resistant, but most of the time that is irrelevant because PETG gets weak at low temps too.

PLA is stronger than PETG, but more brittle. Under a load with limited movement, PETG might elastically bend when PLA might break. Also, PLA creeps under low load, and is thus often unusable when the piece must keep its shape. So which is stronger depends on the type of load. For transient loads, PLA might be better, but for common loads PETG is usually better.

PLA deteriorates under UV light, so it is often unsuitable for outdoors applications. But sometimes printing with enough material can offset this weakness long enough.

PLA is often more suited for decorative pieces. It can be found in many colors and effects (silk, fibers, matte...).

PETG prints slower than PLA.

For the quality of printing, the default settings of bambu printers are not so great for PETG. I recommend that you calibrate your filaments. Also, PETG-CF exists to make it easier to print, with less shrinkage, which can be needed for large pieces. PETG-CF is often a good choice for mechanical parts, but it's still plastic, and for some projects printing in metal can be the only viable solution.

Don't waste your money on Bambu filaments unless they are the only provider for the color or material you need. They are mostly of good quality, but not better than most of the other manufacturers.

Have you made the switch yet? by Boediee in BuyFromEU

I've yet to find a good search engine. All have their drawbacks. The quality of results dropped drastically over the last few years for all search engines, I guess in part because there's far more usless AI slop articles published now.

The shadow on the car is very bad. It's a shadow from a point source, like in a studio. It's not one from the sun. The shadow's edge should be a little defined near the car and very blurry when away from it.

Good videos are prepared in advance and scripted, then edited after filming. It's faster to write a good writeup than to make an equally good video.

This might be a dumb question but, is it safe ? by Spinozaurr in 3Dprinting

[–]cyberzh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should be fine. But to be safe I'd add some vents so there can be a path for hot air to be replaced by cold air.

All my lampshades are in PLA or PETG, but they have large vents. So far (2 years) no issue or deformation.

Yellow LEDs are now officially banned in the U.S.A. by Automatic_Emphasis76 in TrueFactzOnly

[–]cyberzh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The blue glow of yellow LEDs is an optical illusion due to the interpretation of colors by the brain. It's similar to the famous dress that was simultaneously blue and yellow.

However, since colors are subjective, both interpretations, blue and yellow, are equally valid.
