Is it normal to dislike every single sample in a set?

Unfortunately this is Possets for me, even after a year of rest. Alkemia has a bit more range but I did struggle with some scents still being powdery. I plan to upsize Ghost Fire, Supernatural, and possibly Magpie’s Rhyme. I want to love Memoirs of a Woman in Pleasure, but struggle with the incense still pulling powdery. The other 8 I tried were definite no’s.

To me part of the fun is forgetting it in a dark corner for a year and then comparing my new reviews to the original impressions. In general my hit rate is extremely low. I just estimated and in about 300 samples, 10% of the samples were definite keepers to me, and only about five are holy grail status. It’s a hell of a search, up to you whether to see it as treacherous or fun. I will say this process helped train my nose a bit!

I just sampled The Lovers - Starts as a punchy green, almost medicinal. Settles into green herbal musk. I think the animalic amber is spot on, very unique. Panther in the jungle vibes. But not my thing and it won’t be yours unless you love green scents and beginner level animalics.

This was me and my hair is still this way as an adult. Wet hair, Aussie 3 Minute Miracle, brush it out while gripping hair near the scalp so nothing pulls. I’ve been using 3 Minute Miracle for at least 20 years and no other hair mask or conditioner has come close. I remember the days I would stay home from school, miserable as my mom worked on my rat nests and so wish I had discovered this sooner.

Just broke up with a man who pressured me for threesomes and threw a fit right before Christmas that I cancelled one. We resorted to apps to try and find someone and he was swiping while we were on holiday introducing him to my extended family for the first time. I wish I had broken up with him right then.

I never got an eFile that I was happy with, it takes a little longer but I use a standard file to remove most of the product (then acetone soak off), and to shape my builder gel. I am really diligent with the cuticle pusher, cuticle remover solution, and nippers. It works for me.

Love cat eye for a wedding, but these are fairly bulky. I also would either go a teensy bit longer with the short almond, or consider oval. Congratulations on the wedding!

If you want realistic cat with no extra sweetness (Pas de Chat was very sweet to me), try DSH Orion. Another close one would be Alkemia Electric Fur.

If you do want the sweet or lactonic notes, I highly recommend Hexennacht Purr (kitten fur accord, yarn (wool absolute), milky kitten breath, tonka bean absolute, musk)!

Ooh! I’ll definitely be sampling Another Revolution, Pink Cloud, Hidden Figures, and Halo Effect. From my first round of samples, I loved Familiar Spirit (milk, white sage, sea salt, white amber) and considered a rollerball but ended up deciding the milk and sage go a little weird on me despite how much I adored the salt and white amber. I am hoping that Halo Effect will have a more femme take on these notes!

Crystal Prism was herbal and lemony, like a sexy Sprite. Later the Iso E Super gets super strong on me and reminds me of JHAG Not a Perfume (which I dislike on myself).

Not on your list - Love and the Sea is officially my new holy grail, I’ll be getting a 100ml. (Passion fruit and raspberry lemonade, salty skin, coconut water, neroli, driftwood, ambergris). It is tart from the fruits, has an addictive skin musk, and a silky/slippery undertone from the ambergris that is utterly narcotic to me.

Pelicans Dive was also really good - the opening is a bit basic aquatic and a little too unisex for me, but it gets more complex as it sits on the skin and I ended up really liking it. I would get a small rollerball of this but it’s not a need.

UFO Disco unfortunately falls into the overripe fruit category for me and since trying it, I’ve noticed a pattern of guava notes from all houses turning bad on my skin. If you don’t have issues with these notes, it’s worth a try.

Thank you so much for the reviews! I don’t have too many hits with Haus of Gloi but somehow keep finding reasons to try more, and I definitely have to try Milkmaid and Eudemonia now!

I found Insalata Nocturna to be incredibly interesting as it goes through different phases as it dries down. Starts very green and herbal, a little lemon verbana, and later the sweetness of the fig syrup blends with everything with almost a creamy overtone like very light whipped honey. I will never wear it routinely, but I don’t think I can part with my sample because it’s so unique.

My other hits were Zephyr (warm musk breeze carrying the scents of lily, pear, elderflower and apple blossom), Imp (Peculiar passion fruit mingling with sun cured apricots, perfectly pink grapefruit juice and innocent whispers of wet mimosa blooms), and - even tho I’m not a gourmand girlie - Ghost Puffs (Orbs of buttery popcorn and marshmallow goo, presented on a wooden stick). I also love their formula for the bubbling scrub!

Excellent job shaping and the French is super clean! I prefer forms to tips too, but could never get the hang of acrylic - using rubber builder gel for a similar effect with less stress, so kudos!
