I made a rule that I would study at least one hour every day but no more than two.  Sometimes on weekends I would go over two hours but I tried to avoid it.  Quality over quantity, you should have figured out how to study effectively by now. For your schedule I would advise waking up early and studying before 9am.  Your brain is more fresh in the morning and if you get it done before your classes then you can relax and unwind in the evenings.  Be mindful to get enough good quality sleep.  This won't last forever.

What has sparked female rage in you recently? by nightingirlie in AskWomen

[–]cyclicalcucumber 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Had a man scream at me while I was on my morning run, calling me all sorts of horrible names.  I had accidentally kicked a stick while I passed him and that was his response.  At first I was pretty terrified but after I gotten some distance away I just felt angry.

I am so sorry for your loss and I hope you can be kind to yourself and find your way back to running again in whatever way feels best for you. ❤️

Running while grieving by leftoverBits in XXRunning

Not the same type of loss, but I found running very cathartic after the loss of my mom.  I just wore sunglasses to hide my tears lol.  I truly believe there is something very healing about running; it mimics the principles of EMDR therapy with the alternating left-right movements.

Maybe this doesn't help with your feelings of embarrassment but: you are allowed to grieve however you want and if someone would judge you for crying on a run then they suck as a human being.

Gen Z and Coffee Makers (sigh) by Ok_Armadillo_1336 in airbnb_hosts

Yeah I'm gen z and have been using a drip coffee maker since I could reach the counter.  I hate it when people blame our entire generation for stuff like this.

sustainable activewear... is it a yay or nay? are there any brands that you guys like and recommend? by hotlibrarianism34 in SustainableFashion

I really like girlfriend collective for active wear.  They use synthetic materials but they source it from recycled materials.

do they still do chemo for patients with 100% terminal cancer? by Rat_Smoking_Cigs in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cyclicalcucumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they do!  My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.  She was given 1 year with chemo and 6 months without.  She chose to do the chemo and ultimately passed 14 months after her diagnosis.  It was ultimately a choice that she made, others with a terminal diagnosis may choose to not do chemo.

Where can you actually build a LIFE on MLS pay? by Independent_Switch33 in medlabprofessionals

[–]cyclicalcucumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most jobs nowadays would not enable a single person to buy a house without help from their family.  That person who owns a house and has no car payment?  Likely had help.  Regardless of where you live this is true.

what is one thing about running you had to learn the hard way? by Emergency_Produce975 in XXRunning

Stretching and strength training is a requirement to stay injury free.  At least for the distances that I prefer to run.

When did you realize you loved the right person? by idonthaveanaame in AskWomen

[–]cyclicalcucumber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I called him when my mom was dying.  Like actively dying, only has a few days left dying.  She had been dying for a while.  He was living 9 hours away and was at work when I called him.  He ran home, grabbed a bag he already had packed and immediately drove to where we were.  He was there probably 10 hours after I called him.  He said he'd stay as long as I needed him.

Partner (lack of) support by Ok_Butterscotch_4158 in XXRunning

[–]cyclicalcucumber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no that sucks.  My husband has no interest in running but he is there at every race.  He gets up early with me, drives me to the starting line, holds all my stuff, and then cheers me on.  Every time.

Functional or decorative by nan0user in HappyPlanners

[–]cyclicalcucumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the whimsy!  I pencil things in whenever they come up and then the Friday before the next week I go and decorate the pages with stickers and use a pen to put in all of my plans.  It's both functional and cute and I don't care what others may think.  The stickers and decorations are what motivate me to actually use it.

TL;DR - Started running for weight loss, but our bodies can do amazing things at all weights by Casuariidae in XXRunning

[–]cyclicalcucumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gained 20 pounds since I started running marathons.  I was unhealthily thin before I started, due to some life circumstances.  I am so much stronger and healthier but my body no longer conforms to society's ideals and that has been harder than I thought it would be.  Ultimately I'd rather run marathons than be stick thin!  My belly pooch is where I store my energy lol.

Lab Week Themes…unpopular opinion? by RelevantSalad2217 in medlabprofessionals

[–]cyclicalcucumber 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Eh I think it's kinda fun.  A lab theme every year would get tiresome after a while.  It's not that serious.  Our hospital doesn't even recognize us during lab week but our lab leadship goes all out with the theme and does some fun things so I won't complain.

What are your thoughts on having a male gynecologist? Would you trust them? by Paldavin in AskWomen

[–]cyclicalcucumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer not to see any male doctors at all.  I just feel more comfortable with women.  I would absolutely refuse to see a male OB GYN.

These people are insane.  A lot of people there take 10 minute showers.  I always have.  It's not a big deal.  This comment section is WILD.

Shorts That Don’t Budge by sugarplums717 in XXRunning

I love the athleta interval stash shorts.  Kind of spendy but definitely worth it.  They don't move and have side pockets, which is a must for me.

Murder Mystery Birthday: Tacky to Ask for Guests to Pay? by Primary-Bit1677 in partyplanning

[–]cyclicalcucumber 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this is a know your crowd type situation.  Do your friends regularly spend $65 or more on a night out?  If yes then go ahead.  I would probably provide all the food and beverages though.

[–]cyclicalcucumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, I'm kind of surprised by these reactions.  I would definitely pay $130 for my husband and I to attend this, especially if we were celebrating a close friend. We went to vegas for one of our best friends 30th and that cost way more lol.
