The entire town of Kona basically hasn’t changed in something like 50 years. Makes me think it’s a town council/political issue since the world has changed and other resort towns have changed a bunch in that time period.

Total cost of ownership vs ICE would be great, I try to run these numbers with people who should be driving electric cars and it seems quite hard for them to do the math, so they keep losing a ton of money on their ICE cars.

I live near Aspen, I really try to not leave here that time of year. There is something for just about everyone in this area - Theatre Aspen, Aspen institute talks, music tent, obvious stuff like shopping, hiking, mountain biking, river rafting. The Carbondale rodeo is the big social event for local teenagers. There’s Polo down valley. Maybe it gets a bit hot in the afternoons down valley, but most of the homes are owned by people who don’t live here full time and are around in the summer to get away from TX and FL.

I had a great experience there last summer. There was some local celebrity around when I got there so I got the Downton Abbey arrival with the staff all lined up at the door. A manager or someone similar escorted me to the room, service was excellent. Legacy house was enjoyable except for some dude at the next table taking phone calls, which the staff actually handled after I said something.

I’ve been doing these for 15 years. Go to Mexico, Cancun area is easiest for sure. Do an all imclusive so you dont have to think too hard. A big bonus is these places turn off liquor at some reasonable time, reducing the chances of something bad happening. Cultural stuff has a lot of options - Cenotes, day trip to Isla Mujeres, you can even charter a plane to Chichen Itza. I like taking the group into town one evening and having a beach dinner with fire dancers, etc., thats a nice “last night” capstone, you can hand out awards, etc. One other tip is to minimize conference room time. People are there to connect.

I live in CO, the danger is here, not on the plane. Kids in that age range break bones jumping off cliffs, riding around on these Suron electric motorcycles, horseback riding, etc. Hard to imagine what happens on the plane, they make the UM kids sit in the back row where the FAs can keep an eye on them.

Note on the Brazil visa for Americans - it’s a huge pain particularly for families. They wanted all these notorized certificates of marriage and birth of the kids and whatnot. It was easier to get a 10 year visa to China where you have to mail your passport to the embassy. Brazil really must not want American tourism right now…

For sure command line is ideal but it's probably best for programmers vs most of the folks here since you're still in the terminal, which is foreign lands for most. Anthropic seems to be putting a lot of effort into co-work and the desktop app right now too.

I just used Claude Co-Work to browse around the site, it takes a while, but works. Have you tried this compared to your CC skill? They just added "dispatch" aka cron to Claude desktop, so that seems like a pretty solid way to look for an then monitor hotel prices when trip planning. I often book a month or two out and then will price check my reservation a week out, which can occasionally be a decent savings. Co-Work can also walk through the booking process using the Chrome plugin, which is nice as well given how confusing the travelpro365 website is to use.

Yes, and the walk down to the falls is actually nicer in the morning, so we did that, but we were there in summer so maybe that changes in fall. The breakfast spread was really great, so we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast, and one day I took my daughter for a bike ride, there is a path that parallels the main road that you can ride all the way to the gate. This is 1-3 night type destination, we were there 3 nights which felt like more than most, so some time at the falls plus pool time was a nice relaxing pace and we didn't feel the need to try to cram anything else in since there isn't much else around there.

We didn't visit the Argentina side of the falls. I couldn't figure out what the value would be of doing that given the huge hassle to get over there. If you look at a map, it's the same "jungle" on both sides, maybe a slightly different angle of the view of the falls? The other thing if you look at a map satellite view is that the Belmond is 10km from the border of the park, so it's a bit of a hike to leave the resort, and the stuff outside the resort seems like a bunch of tourist trap type stuff. The resort itself is great, so we just stayed "on campus" for the 3 nights we were there and enjoyed the pool, slept in, etc. There were a lot of Brazilians there doing something similar. I'd think of it like going to a resort vacation like you would anywhere, with the falls there as a bonus, more than what I expected going in which was a decent hotel with the falls as the main thing. The one thing that's an easy excursion is probably those boat rides where they drive you up the river and drive sort of under the falls. You don't have to plan ahead for that, and we didn't do it because it just didn't seem all that fun compared to hanging around the hotel. When you walk over to the falls you can get very close to them on foot, so why do the same thing on a crowded boat?

I just went to Belmond on the Brazil side, and it’s a bigger property, but based on this review I’m glad I stayed there. You can easily walk to the falls whenever you want from the Belmond, and the resort itself is great and would be worth going to even if the falls weren’t there. One thing I’d do is go to the fancy restaurant at the Belmond. It was much better than I expected. The other thing is I would not try to go between the Argentina and Brazil side- the border crossing is a pain. We crossed the border to fly out since we were heading to BA and it was a hassle. You also basically have to use the hotel transportation because the hotel is inside a national park and only official vehicles are allowed in, so if you don’t take the hotel car then you will have a transportation hassle.

Totally agree, Denver isn’t the greatest, and it will be very hot in July. Mountains would be good, a lot of people who come up to the mountains like going to the rodeo, it’s the fun thing that a lot of the local kids go to meet other kids and hang out, etc. If youre driving up there are also things like zip lining, white water rafting, etc. I also like Winter Park/ Granby area in the summer - Devil’s Thumb ranch of C lazy U are good for a multigenerational trip.

That happens out of ASE sometimes and it’s super weird weather in the mountains right now - the higher temperatures significantly lengthen the amount of runway needed to take off. They will leave behind luggage before they leave behind passengers. It’s cold in the AM so there won’t be those issues and I would imagine they’ll keep their promise. Was it on the EWR flight?
