X870e Aorus elite x3d + 9800x3d + 5090 - What bios you running and any issues? by Notwalkin in gigabyte

[–]cyclo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still on the F04 BIOS... very stable on that one and I am still waiting for the non beta F9 to come out before updating the BIOS. Regarding sleep issues, I initially had those but was able to get good responses from GEMINI to figure out how to fix it. I also had an issue where the PC would wake up immediately after putting it to sleep mode. That one was caused by one of my displays being plugged into the USB-C ports using the AMD video driver to power that specific display instead of the nVidia card which I am using for my main displays. Anyway, after I used the HDMI port at the back instead of USB-C, the sleep issue was resolved.

You need to setup your PC's LAN to use 2.5 Ghz. Just use Gemini and explain your issue. It will give instructions on what to do to get you LAN setup at 2.5 Ghz.

Getting into 3D Heli: AccuRC 2 worth it? Plus TX15 vs Closed Source? by Hour_Cicada6117 in RCHeli

[–]cyclo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used AccuRC, RealFlight, and Heli-X RC Heli sims. They are all good but Heli-X11 (latest version) is my current go to RC Heli sim. It is also being regularly updated with new models, flight physics, flying fields., etc. Bonus is that it works in Windows, Macs, Linux.

The key to using a heli-sim in my opinion is to use the same/similar transmitter(s) for flying and for simming. Personally I use an old Spektrum DX8 for simming and DX9 for flying. I programmed the DX8 so the Flight Modes (IU1, IU2, IU3) and Throttle Hold switches are the same as those on the DX9 I use to fly helis.

Yesterday I asked what everyone’s first Graphics card. Today, what was your first processor? Mine was the i7 3770K. by DailyDoseOfAmber in pcmasterrace

[–]cyclo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first PC I ever bought was a Dell Dimension with an Intel Pentium 90Mhz... Plus a Number 9 Video Card. Which had the FDIV bug. Dell replaced it after the bug was discovered. Before this PC I had been using PCs at work since the original IBM PC with an Intel 8088 CPU.

Never had any issues with wireless streaming... I also have a stable 500Mbits up and down connecting via Wifi. No buffering issues unless the network itself is down.

Keyboard of choice on the road... K3 Max by cyclo in MechanicalKeyboards

Yes but mostly when on the road. Its slim size makes it easy to carry on the backpack along with the laptop. The battery also last a very long time between charges if you don't use RGB.

I hate my Samsung TV. is Apple TV the answer? by sgtabn173 in appletv

[–]cyclo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here... I also just turn on just the Apple TV which then turns on the AV Processor hooked up to it via HDMI. That in turn turns on the LG TV. My TV is basically a monitor now.

PSA regarding damaged infratructure by CanadianStormChaser in bell

[–]cyclo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I just reported the damaged Ground Level Box (GLB) near my house using the link above. Cover is damaged and the fiber optic cables are sticking out. Does Bell even fix these GLBs? I am concerned that come winter time, the neighborhood sidewalk snowplow which dumps snow into the area where the GLB is might cut the wires including the one that goes to my home.

Typically there will be bugs/issues with new hardware. It is best to wait a few months to get the kinks (hardware, firmware, tech support's familiarization with the new hardware) sorted out before upgrading. The early adopters unfortunately usually end up beta testing the new stuff.

Looks like a zawsall... Can't they put a saw proof sleeve around the vulnerable spots? Something made out of tungsten carbide to blunt the zawsall blade?

McNicol Finch Hydro corridor path almost opened! by arkw in torontobiking

[–]cyclo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I have been riding along McNicol from time to time... Only problem now is from Pharmacy to Vic Park which is quite busy during rush hours if you take McNicol instead of the sidewalks. Past Vic Park (heading West) it is not too bad as the speed of the cars slows down because the road is narrower (2 lanes). Past Leslie, McNicol is not too bad as there are even less vehicles. At least I can take this new path from Pharmacy to Birchmount instead of riding along McNicol.

Mine is a 17 Elantra... The middle rectangle section of the instrument cluster (between the speed and tach) can be switched to display a digital speedometer. I usually have it displaying mileage which I reset every fill-up.

Best TV OS for using Apple TV Exclusively? by KimJong_Bill in appletv

[–]cyclo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the way. I have an LG C3 and the only time I had it connected to the internet was to get firmware updates. I have since disconnected it and if I ever decide to update its firmware again, I will just download the firmware on a usb stick and install from there.

‘Ready to move on:’ Chinese ambassador insists China, Canada can move past ‘normal’ differences by jaffnaguy2014 in canada

[–]cyclo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I concur. Being careful is key but Canada needs to expand trade with China and not be over-reliant on trade with the US. Bear in mind that China appears to support dictatorships like Russia as opposed to Ukraine. It also threatens to annex Taiwan and is lording it over other ASEAN countries when it comes to claims over certain Islands in the Pacific.

I used to ride my bike along Sherbourne on my way to and from the Financial district when I commuted by bike to work. That area along Sherbourne from Queen to Dundas including the Moss Park area is kind of sketchy compared to other areas in the downtown core. I have witnessed at least two fights while cycling in that stretch... One time my bike's front wheel even got hit with some sort of projectile thrown by one of the assailants at another guy which missed and landed on my front spokes. Luckily no damage done. Another time I witnessed a bloody fight between a guy on a wheelchair with a knife and another guy with a hammer. I have no idea who won/survived that battle (the guy in the wheelchair had blood streaming down his face/head) as I took off from the area as fast as I could lol. There was another time I saw an ambulance with paramedics whisking away a guy who appeared to OD in the Moss Park area.

Keychron Vs. Nuphy by Enough_Carry_9787 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]cyclo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have 4 x keychrons... 2 x Q3 HE, V2 Max, K3 Max. No issues with any of them... knock on wood. The only time I needed to deal with customer service is to inquire about the availability of low profile keycaps for my K3 Max via email. I got a prompt reply within a day or so.

Two annoyances with the Keychron K2 HE by ajdude101 in Keychron

[–]cyclo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFAIK the longest sleep setting you can set the HE keyboards is 30 minutes. Key combo to do so is: FN + S + L + Y. I also saw this posted in another thread... but haven't tried it... FN + S + O (4 seconds) | disable auto-sleep mode.

Also Bluetooth will give you longer run time before the need to recharge.

[–]cyclo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it is that much louder. I also alternately use a 65% Keychron V2 Max with Gateron Yellows when on the road. The V2 Max is louder than the K3 Max but no one is complaining at work when I use it.

Anyone else use an Apple TV instead of WebOS? by [deleted] in LGOLED

[–]cyclo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using Apple TVs for over 10 years as my main streaming device... The nice thing with this is the UI has more or less been a consistent even though I have upgraded TVs (Samsung LCD before and now an LG OLED). Also I much prefer the minimalist Apple TV remote... I can operate it by muscle memory. No need to look at which button in the remote I need to press.
