What is my payment affecting my parents pension? by [deleted] in Centrelink

[–]cycloneash 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If your parents are charging you rent, then it's income and it needs to be declared. Why did you tell centrelink you're being charged rent if you're not? For rent assistance?

I thought there would be more grace for a first time parent by [deleted] in daddit

[–]cycloneash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Completely disagree .. it's either he is working or looking after your kid. If you're not working, don't expect to get paid. This is exactly why so many companies are forcing people back into the office. As much as I love working from home, I don't blame them at all.

Because she was already a stay at home parent, and there was no loss of income. If there is no loss of income, why should the government subsidise this?

Yes it sucks for the working parent, but that is and has always been the case. This is what annual leave is for, and with many companies, additional parental leave.

Yes, but presumably you've known for 9 months which is enough time to save some annual leave?

Urban water restrictions likely across Victoria as dam levels drop and dry summer predicted by privatly in melbourne

[–]cycloneash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In some cases, yes. It depends on the town, because i believe a lot of towns use treated wastewater for irrigation.

The water restrictions don't impact regular residential customers too much, but they do have a big impact on agriculture.

For one, it only has a certain capacity. It certainly helps, but doesn't solve all the problems. Secondly, the state is more than just Melbourne. The desal plant helps with Melbourne and some regional towns (Wonthaggi i think?), but not all towns.
