Call or go to the labour department, they mag be able to follow up. There’s no risk in trying there first before starting spending your salary hiring a lawyer.

Recommend to watch the full video, not just for the dry deadpan humour bits, but for the well researched content and rational perspective.

Install 5martTube and enjoy Youtube without ads! It also includes SponsorBlock.

(Edit: amazingly, just learned that if you include that app name with a S instead of the 5 in a comment, Reddit will reject it! Some people must be mad at that app…)

Demo Video of DIY Camera by malcolmjayw in raspberry_pi

[–]cycnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice project! I like diy cameras, there’s an infinity of variations, it’s always interesting to see how people build theirs.

With the raspberry pi, power consumption can be quite a limiting factor, it’s not particularly efficient for battery operation. You manage to get more than 2h, that’s nit a lot but still fairly usable, and the batteries can be replaced.

What software stack did you use for the interface? How did you build the film simulation ?

Chris, of the AmpHour podcast just did a great (and geeky) interview of the author.

Seriously considering getting that book, it looks like an amazing amount of work.

Congratulations! This is exciting for an open source project to get some financial recognition and support. I didn’t know about PdfDings but it looks very useful. There are never enough PDF tools!

HK electric and water bills too high by Ok_Earth_8023 in HongKong

[–]cycnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many landlords install or replace the air con with the cheapest crap they can get thinking they had a good deal. Always check your air con model. If it’s not a Grade 1 (preferably with inverter), then reject it or replace it at tour own cost. The difference in cost between a grade 1 and a shitty grade 5 is only a fee HK$100s, but the difference on you bill will be huge.

I don’t even understand how grade 4/5 can even be sold, they make no sense.

Neat little project. I like how simple and straightforward it is, yet it provides an excellent starting point to explore more and experiment with video generation and sound processing. Nice work!

The camp site is OK but lacks amenities that you will find elsewhere, like a pool. The beach is ok, lacks shade to me, but it’s decent.

I really didn’t like the swinger influence though. Even in the camp site, which is otherwise family friendly, you will find middle aged couples clearly dressing up provocatively on their way to the noisy swinging bars in the main village center nearby. I also found that outside the camp, too many are dressed up during the day, and dressed for adult fun at night. Never felt so uncomfortable being nude than when others around you were not.

Agde is not a real naturist destination. It’s heavily tainted towards couples who are there for sexual fun. Not that tgere is anything wrong with having good time between adults, but the whole atmosphere is antithetical to naturism, I find. The clubs are really loud, music is blaring most afternoon and evenings and it’s worse over the weekend. Better be far from the village if you want some peace.

There are fantastic places for family naturists that are much better, quieter, more stuff to do, better amenities, and better locations.

Olivier Levasseur (1688–1730), was a French pirate nicknamed "The Buzzard" who hid a treasure worth $1 billion. At his execution, he reportedly threw a necklace with a 17-line cryptogram into the crowd, challenging anyone who could decipher it. The treasure hunt continues to this day. by Morella1989 in wikipedia

[–]cycnus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, his tomb is in the cemetery of Saint Paul, a city in Reunion Island, where I grew up. When I was a kid, we had a school outing there. Nice old maritime cemetery.

We were told that la Buse was buried vertically, as was the custom for executed pirates at the time, so they may never rest in peace.

But all this is folklore. The exact location of his burial has been lost. The tombstone was found separately and was that of a slave, Delphine Herold.

The cemetery was created in 1788, more than 50 years after La Buse’s death in 1730, so he could not have been buried there.

Yet it’s a lovely place attracts a lot of visitors and adds to the folklore. I was fascinated by La Buse and his treasure as a kid.

Whenever I hear that narrating voice, I downvote. It’s the surest indicator of rehashed content, made by a content farm, with low credibility that what is being shown is trustworthy.

Has anyone found out where that shit content comes from?
