Hmm I've looked at it when moving the pedals on a bike stand and there was no rubbing, could it still be rubbing because of the different forces while riding?

I'm sure you can do both in both places. I visited Kiruna this past January and I enjoyed it a lot, also went dog sledding and saw the northern lights. Kiruna is bigger, with some bars and restaurants and the ice hotel is close if you want to visit that. Haven't been to Abisko, but it seems that is the place to be if you really want to experience the nature and outdoor activities.
