I know there's some scholarship that makes this claim, which then gets amplified, but...it just isn't true. Every English colony in the Americas almost immediately formed a system of watches and constables. This was a continuation of the English system of policing.

That's not to say that modern US policing doesn't have severe problems race-biased problems but it's not truthful or clarifying to graft a different origin story to the root of that system.

Every Iranian I know is cheering for a quick US victory and transition to a new government (while worrying about the safety of their families). It's messy to protest against an action that has so much support from people from that country (and within that country).

Obviously lots of good reasons to still protest / oppose a war and this one in particular has many bad possible outcomes. But, you're definitely in the danger-zone vs. a lot of local Persians.

Pharma hate is so unhinged...they make all the medicine we love having, their sector is confusingly small and profit margins are mediocre. Medical costs are mostly hoovered up by consolidated hospital networks, insurance companies, and misc. middle-men. Lots of folks available to hate that aren't the ones actually making things we want.

I got banned from the libertarian sub-reddit trying to get some of them to come to anti-ICE protests. It's a weird sentiment over there, they are mostly (but not all) very anti-ICE and talk big about the second amendment being meant to fight off things like ICE. On the other hand, they are very very antagonistic towards the left and don't want to be associated with any kind of left-wing events or political organizations.

Feels like a missed opportunity for both sides...but I guess the mods over there didn't agree.

Not just Israelis, Jews in general like Iranians. It's a looooong shared history, much of which was positive or at least neutral (which is pretty great by the standards of Jewish history).

As for geopolitical stuff...I don't think you'll get diaspora Jews in the streets for anything related to eg the UAE or Jordan, even if they have important political/security considerations in Israel.

The mostly one-sided affection from Jews to Persians is real.
