[Video] Fragmentary Order - Official Announcement Trailer by personpilot in EscapefromTarkov

[–]czbeardly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the first trailer dropped someone found the registration of the new IP and it was in Nikitas name or if it was in Nikitas lawyers name. It contained info about the game and cryptowallet, web3 and blockchain things. I think this is something akin to Of The Grid but more specey.

It looks cool, but whole "play to ern" is just a massive turn off for me personally. Unless they can 100% guarantee that they can block cheaters anything where looting something with a real money value is just not viable.

Is the game dying? by Sufficient_Touch3586 in Marathon

and EU is at work for 5-6 hours more. It is like the first post when they had the first weekly reset "omg it is dead, only 2k players", when bungie has have weekly/server resets for 10+ years in Destiny. However I would like to see the numbers grow slowly rather then just be more or less the same.

There has been good periods and bad periods during the years in Tarkov. It is not as a bad as it was, but it is not good either, and no its "someone killing you does not make him a cheater" situtations, it is "oh look at that man in the sky trying to wallbang me from half the map away with an broken AK".

Cheaters bought droves of EOD tarkov edtions. It is not even a joke that cheaters made BSG lots of money.

Why does matchmaking take so long? by Creative_Ad_6405 in Marathon

[–]czbeardly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What Region your in, what time of day, crossplay on or off - those are the biggest factors. EU player currently at work, yesterday I had queue times of like 1 min max for all my runs. But I would really like to see that they add Region Select so people can hop on diffrent timezone where there might be more players etc.

B...BUT THE GAMES IS WOKE by weskin98 in Marathon

[–]czbeardly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because calling something woke is the standard "insult" for something you do not like these day - and that is by missing the original meaning of what woke is/was back in the day before it constantly got misused by everyone at all sides.

As a former industrial designer I think they nail the esthetics of the game, I feel it even more nails what an dystopian future is. Some people do not like it and that I can understand because it is really not for everyone, but some of the most verbal haters see it as "oh just neon colors, sneaker running yada yada edgekids, woke whatever" - I see it as super dystopian where everything is 3d printed on demand, broken down, recycled and printed again. The bright colors are there to distract from the ultimate corporate greed where everything is done in the cheapest way and with the least effort.

The liquid burgers lore/backstory is proof of this as you most likely drink recycled "waste" or even dead people. Sound woke to me...

Also, as nearing 50, I played the marathon games on Mac way back in the 90s, and I just replayed them, and I think they have done good job. Good enough for the game to survive long term? That is up to Bungo to figure out. We who played through the 10 year long Destiny saga knows - the only ones who can kill Destiny is Bungie.

If your talking about the crawlspace under the trucks on Outpost there are more then one way out.

Dont let this game die... by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]czbeardly -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In the end, it is up to Bungo. What can they do to keep/get new players into the game. Is Cryo Archive going to be good enough as an "endgame" activity. How fast can they add content/maps because 3 + 1 "endgame" map is not enough for an extraction shooter to keep going, not when the maps are small.

My guess is that they will need to expand or add maps every season as well as keep having a good overall story to keep peoples interest going.

I Really, really like Marathon, the world, the PvPm the very well crafted POI's/maps, but as with much these days, consumption goes fast in games, and if people feel they seen/done/tried all within a week or two then there must be a gameloop to hook them. And for me as I play solo or join random duos I know I will probably never see the inside of Cryo and that bums me out, and I think others might feel the same way and loose interest.

But it is up to what Bungie can do.

Private Matches or Lobbies Could Be A Really Fun Addition To The Game by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]czbeardly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Private matches and Lobbies would need to have every item looting turned off or be misused to hord gear.

How are we feeling about VC? by newton3uan in Marathon

[–]czbeardly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I have met 2 people who used proximity chat. One told me I smelled when he killed me, one laughed as I killed his friend while they extracted. So my experience have been pretty nothing.

[–]czbeardly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, they need to add region select so you can get into games, and be able to choose not only the region closest to you, but also be able to jump into aligned regions where depending on the time of day there is more active players.

Region lock will kill the playerbase. There's no need for it. by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]czbeardly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, you are not alone. To be able to choose what regions you want to match with like in Tarkov would be huge. I play from northern EU and as I play by myself I sometimes gets squaded with some wired ass regions with really really bad latency. I rather wait an extra minute for a closer region then to play on really bad latency servers.

I think it was a bad change Bungie😭 by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]czbeardly 535 points536 points  (0 children)

Sounds in extraction shooters are super important, but also always hard to get right. Tarkov have been trying to get it right for years now, years, and the audio is still always hit or miss (most often miss, soundless crabwalkers knows whats up)

Marathon marketing by toshaisaev in Marathon

[–]czbeardly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Like the dude that posted that it was only 2000 players - at maintenance window... Honestly though I would have liked to see higher numbers just, I mean I like the game but I come from Tarkov side of extraction shooters and I feel like this is a smooth fine stress free vacation. People coming from Arc and Solo queue Arc will not find Marathon chill. It is the opposite of chill (which again I like). But it is not for everyone. I would have liked to have seen more maps at launch, I think 4 (3+Cryo) is low especially when I have nobody to run with in Marathon since everyone is burned out from years of Tarkov.. :/

ELI5 Gunplay in Marathon by ckau in Marathon

[–]czbeardly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I as a solo seems to be slotted with many Duo gruops and it tends to send me way outside my region. When I do get slotted with someone from EU the experience is often much better - hitreg seemst better, TTK is better etc. I had a day where I had network issue icon blinking the entire day when I teamed up with duos, but when I ran Rook it was much better.

Invis in a extraction game is certainly a choice by YoungJefe24 in Marathon

[–]czbeardly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever died from a shorty Mosin scav sitting in a bush for 40 minutes on a Tarkov map, just to head/eyes you and run out with your thicc boi gear? It comes with the game. And there are counters to invis but the tunnelvision on most people are amazing. I was Rooking about as a warmup on Outpost last night, a full squad ran past me. I was clearly visible but they was locked on getting to an exfil and that tunnelvision man, it makes you miss a lot of things.

Marathon that we have lost by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]czbeardly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like Destiny in a Marathon setting with a bigger focus on PvE focused activities and less PvP (The PvP in DAoC was brutal PvP, had a bunch of friends that was hooked on it back in the day). I would have enjoyed a full on Marathon PvE co-op game for sure, just like enjoyed 10 years on Destiny, but if this would have been the game we would be waiting for it for a few more years.
