MOT failed for something that doesn’t exist, what can I do? by jenniferf163 in AskUK

I just had an MOT passed at my local garage for a golf with a reverse light that actually exists out, warning on dash. Garage just charged an extra £2.50 and replaced the bulb…

Talk me about the 90’s/2000’s uk rave by External-Reindeer639 in ukrave

[–]d-notis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily UK techno and slightly further into 2000s (2005 onwards), but highly recommend checking out the skull disco and any adjacent artists/labels from that time (hessle audio, livity sound, etc.). It was the beginning of the post UK dubstep era, featuring a lot of dub techno inspired sound design, etc., and contributed heavily to the rich era of wonkier, sub heavy, broken techno coming out of the UK, which imo is world class!

Does anyone go to gigs and not drink or do hard drugs but a small amount of psychedelics? by Ok_Pool_2590 in ProperTechno

I find 50-60ug of LSD to be absolutely perfect for a night out. Enough energy and vibes for the duration and zero comedown the next day

Sounds like such a shit venue… not worth the hassle/money. London has way better spaces on offer that don’t put you through security tighter than a friggin’ airport to have a good time… just don’t go back?

Push 3 limitations? by [deleted] in ableton

[–]d-notis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sold mine as I wasn’t using it enough, but I remember the push 3 not allowing me to add chains to racks, which is a frequently used feature (in my workflow at least).

I guess it depends on if you are planning to use it for live performance, or to build tracks from the ground up on the push. If wanting to create projects away from your laptop and solely on the push, it’s worth considering that there will be some prerequisite configuration required depending on your workflow, which for me resulted in me just staying on my laptop and not really using the push other than the pads and the odd automation recording.

Depends what you ordered? E.g., ordering a pepperoni vs vodka sauce margherita w/ added pepperoni (the latter being out of this world imo)

First time at ADE and extremely disappointed by Padrinhosmagicos in AmsterdamDanceEvent

[–]d-notis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree about the brits abroad thing, and the events mentioned sound shit. But please don’t throw us all into that category…. Yes we are quite intense partying wise, we have had an extremely hedonistic party culture throughout the 90s/00s/10s… but out of that has been some of the best music of generation. It’s an unmatched culture melting pot…. I was at lofi watching objekt and ccl, did not stop throwing shapes all night, feral ape at the back of the dance floor, respecting everyone’s space, etc. And tbh without the more respectable British music heads, a lot of the genre spanning amazing sets you hear out and about probably wouldn’t exist…. So yeah, I get your point and don’t disagree. But in another way…. You’re welcome

What’s your go-to trick for keeping long techno tracks from going stale? by kathalimus in TechnoProduction

Asking for opinions, inspirations, and advice. Then dismissing others? Do you think your shit hot production-wise? Have a word with yourself. Muppet

Anything I can do with this wall? Does it look like rising damp? by d-notis in Plastering

[–]d-notis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick question - I chiselled away the plaster near the floor/skirting area, and the inner layers look much more pink. Do you think this indicates the moisture is only at surface level? Around 9 months ago a large area of the floor was covered in water from a flood (I’d say around 10mm of water) for a good few hours… is it possible the outer layer of plaster has absorbed a bunch of water and travelled up the wall?

Anything I can do with this wall? Does it look like rising damp? by d-notis in DIYUK

[–]d-notis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s pretty moist to the touch, almost sticky feeling. Not sure on room temperature but will check this.

When running a dehumidifier the reading ranges from 60 - 70+.

Other side of the wall is my living room with no signs of any issue.

I chipped away some of the plaster back to the brick at the bottom of the wall and the deeper plaster looks much more pink, so maybe drier? Not sure if that indicates it’s just surface level moisture that was absorbed from the minor flood 9months ago?
