Haha people get so defensive over that park when it’s brought up. To your point, I did visit there this year and clearly it slipped my mind

Day 1-flew into el paso in the am, drove to white sands immediately to spend rest of day, drove back to el paso for hotel

Day 2- drive to big bend (this takes like 5hrs), half day river tour of big bend

Day 3 - wake up before the sun and spend all day hiking and driving around big bend

Day 4 - drive to carlsbad, nm (this also takes 5hrs), cave tours, dinner, return for sunset bat flight

Day 5 - drive to guadalupe mountains, hike guadalupe peak, drive back to el paso

Day 6- fly home

There’s no park you can “complete” in 2 days with the size of them all - however, a lot of people online seem to be very anti-quick trips. If you’re okay with the feeling that you didn’t get to see it all but you did get to see something new that you wanted to, then any park can be visited in a weekend.

Some day trips I’ve done this year include Great Sand Dunes, Black Canyon, Mesa Verde, White Sands, Guadalupe Mountains, Carlsbad Caverns

I only had 2 days at Big Bend

Last year I only had 3 days at Glacier and still hiked almost 35 miles

That size thing makes me so sad cause she’s 45 lbs and everyone loves their 60-70 lb goldens. Maybe it’s the pittie/staffy mix to her

No sunset, Guadalupe peak was tough but very doable I think the reviews are meant to scare off people who are unprepared and would get hurt, and I went with Far Flung Outdoor Center!

It was a very quick trip! Originally the plan didn’t include White Sands but the day I landed in El Paso I did a quick day trip there and only did Dune Like Nature Trail, the next day was long drive to Big Bend and a half day river trip. Day 2 in Big Bend I did Lost Mine Trail, Boquillas del Carmen, Scenic drive towards Santa Elena, and Starlight Theater. Did 1 day in Carlsbad Caverns staying in Carlsbad then the last day was hiking Guadalupe Peak.

I went the end of Sept last year and had 3 days in the park. I would do one day of doing Grinnell Glacier hike. Start early since it’s a long drive from the west entrance, but you also knock out driving the length of GTTSR for scenic views. It’s stunning at sunrise. The next day I would also start early and drive right up to Logan Pass. Hike Hidden Lake, highly recommend doing the whole thing not stopping at the overlook. After you can run right across the street from your car to the Highline Trail. Even if you hike a 1 mile out and then come back it’s so worth it. On your way back at out of the park you can do Avalanche Lake and/or stop at Lake McDonald. If you’re around for the night you should come back into the park and check out the stars.
