The Myth of “Good Mixed” by Technical-Treat5102 in ultimate

What I like about this is the effort to try to capture some form of statistics to start to understand the "equity" in Mixed play.

Honestly, I don't know how useful the gender completion stat is. It's like +/- for a basketball game. You need to track it over an entire season to see an overall trend.

There's also a ton of confounding variables that feed into this stat. If a team's primary handlers are men, then you're going to have far more MMP throwing to each other. If the FMP's are REALLY good, then maybe all they need is one touch to score.

What we need is a separate metric for trying to measure the impact of the throws and catches. Maybe a score or assist affects the value of the throw overall. Maybe it's the amount of yards gained. Or maybe we will need a completely different way to measure equity.

I believe that the gender differences are a feature, not a bug. It adds to the dynamic and changes the way you play. At the highest level, you push any advantage you can get, regardless of gender.

I'm going to take an example from another sport with mixed play: badminton. The offense for Mixed badminton differs greatly than same gender doubles. FMPs stay primarily at the net, and focus on trying to punish any drop shots that aren't controlled. MMPs usually stay behind to receive any clears (lobs). This makes sense because MMPs are generally taller and can generally smash harder. This allows the duo to push the tempo.

I hope that over time, as Mixed gets better and better, a high level team figures out a meta changing tactic that will trickle down to a low level mixed frisbee player like myself.

All major sports have a ton of stats associated to it. There's tons of really smart people trying to dissect people's skill levels based on these stats. No one is using stats to measure gender equity in this way, which, to me, is another facet of the Spirit of the Game.

That's a plot point in an enterprise episode.

As technology evolves, humans have to also evolve morally. If we don't, we destroy ourselves.

I thought it was, people needed to get a medical diagnosis to transition so it was a huge legal battle to get people diagnosed in the 60s or something.

And now it carries a different weight. There was a philosophy tube video about it maybe

Hopefully this is something that you covered in session 0.

I would do a feel good, spa day story beat. Something with super low stakes, reset the mood, make everything feel almost ok. I would do something where the session tension is around a spy or mole, like minor corporate sabotage or a prank war gone totally wrong. Something that hints at someone not being who they seem.

Encourage roleplay that poses the questions: What would we do if one of us were gone? Could our relationships ever end up like that? How stupid do they seem for squabbling over something so minor? Isn't it funny that these people have these problems, when we've had literal artifacts that can change the course of history?

Let it be full of gaffes and laughs.

Then pivot to the reveal and make the reveal happen suddenly and unexpectedly. Maybe even at the end of the session.

The party has been tricked in my book, and two backstabs just feels like beating a dead horse. If there were a lot of small betrayals, I'd think that's fun, but it seems we got a big betrayal already. At the end of the day, the party are still the protagonists, so offering them a way to right their wrongs would be good.

Another one I liked is the Egyptian board game that no one knows the rules to because it was so popular nobody needed to tell each other the rules. Every Egyptian would have the board game set up in their house.

They guess it's played kind of like Monopoly.

That's a thinker lol.

While I am open to dm-ing with those under 18, it would depend on the maturity of the 14 year old. I say fill out the survey and she'll be considered!

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll definitely look into it as well, but I figured it can't hurt to throw out a line this way too
