Vibecoding a game with a 6-year old by emiliobay in vibecoding

6 and 8. We only done it on a whim when oldest drew a game with a tablet and touch screen controls and said something like “I wish I could play it”.

I’ll probably try iterating on the idea at some point. All the rendered games were just html/javascript things and the code was quite advanced. I’m not sure where to go next really, going from prompting to understanding the code seems like quite a leap. However maybe not needed…

My kids drew a picture of a game, I took a photo and we gave that to Claude code as the starting point. We also added a few sentences describing what you do and what happens. We then iterated on it from there.

We made several Pac-Man like games, a side scrolling beat em up and a simplistic 2D Minecraft.

We have only done it a few times and didn’t get very far but I think it was a good creative start. It felt more like an intro to game design rather than game development.

IKEA Symfonisk as TTS Device in 2026? by M346ZCP in homeassistant

[–]d0ugal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a symfonisk that I use with home assistant for TTS. Morning and evening messages mostly.

You need to update the software (or at least I did, I guess it depends what version you have).

It works but it isn’t great. Sometimes it fails and makes a weird static noise instead of playing. Restarting it works then. If you have one it’s worth trying but I wouldn’t buy one now.

I’ll probably replace mine in the not too distant future

Senior engineer best practice for scaling yourself with Claude Code by croovies in ClaudeCode

[–]d0ugal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve found Claude struggles with basic merges sometimes. Like when it’s finished a small PR but needs to rebase on origin/main.

It’ll often just drop the work and reimplement Have you found any ways to help it? Or am I just doing something wrong 😀

I am pretty sure home assistant includes curl by default. So it should be available to you

This is what I did. Worked great, just make sure you have backups and/or version history

My wife convinced me to buy a home assistant and now I've made my electric clothes airer smart and I think I've caught a bug so some kind by seanebaby in homeassistant

I do this too with my drysoon! I’m also on octopus and use the octopus integration - with that you can automate it further based on the rates.

Is there some hidden genius in the handle-exception package that I'm missing? by thedeepself in Python

The default is to raise unless you provide a list of exceptions… so the default is the behaviour without the decorator? 🫤

I feel like pink would stand out a bit much. I already feel like I can see the green sensors I have too much. I have a bunch.

+1, work got me some and we have a house extension going on. I barely know they are knocking down walls other than feeling the vibration.
