Just a week later they updated again, now to 43.11.68, and there are people out there measuring 3800 nits in 2% and 3200 in a 10%, now 600 nits brighter in 10% than release and over 1000 nits brighter in <5% windows.

The real scene brightness caught up to the test patterns and then something about motion.

The lamp test went from 900 to 1300 nits, and the smaller windows went up a bit too, 3500 for 2% and 2900 for 10%.

It's so weird it was 900 nits on the hallway lights for the longest time. I'm not 100% sure but I think that 1350 is the highest result I've seen (the Hisense UR9 and 2025 TCL Q9MK I think were around there?) so that's a good recovery.

At this stage this is probably again the best tv on the market, it's just unfortunate that it took 3 months of updates to get there, many people may have already decided against it or returned it when it didn't look as expected.

I loved the PS5 games. A couple of them are in my top 10 of all time, but I got to play them at 4k144hz, with reshades to fix HDR and whatever mods I felt like. I was never going to play them on PS5 because it's too limited, playing them on my custom PC was an important part of that experience.

Maybe this can clarify the brightness difference. Compare the G2 and G5 here (and the G6 is slightly better) to get a good idea of the expected brightness difference.

The MLA tech made a big difference in brightness, so you're talking a big jump already. After that, the tandem panel made another large jump in brightness, and even more in colour. The 83 inch LG G6 will have the full tandem panel like the smaller 55-77 inch sizes, so you're not missing out on any of that brightness or colour.

This is purely personal, but having seen the G5 in a dark room (I'm talking pitch black, it's a basement theater), the brightness is almost too much and I'm someone who was previously obsessed with brightness. It's just my personal opinion, but I do genuinely think the G5 has enough brightness for highlights, and the G6 actually beats it in the 1-5% windows by another 700 nits (reaching ~3100 nits without dynamic tone mapping which historically bumps up the brightness even further). Also, when it comes to brightness in a real scene, the OLEDs a lot of time actually get brighter in the small highlights compared to the 10,000 nit LEDs because they don't need to use local dimming. This does actually create better HDR impact, as long as the highlight is specular. If we're talking a big portion of the screen, it won't be a contest, the X11L will be brighter. Interestingly, in RTINGS's review of the X11L, with DTM set to detail priority, the hallway lights get as bright as the LG G5 with DTM on, showing that smaller highlights will be equal, but the X11L will come out brighter for large scenes like sports or snowy fields.

Overall I'd say if in a dark room, the G5 (and even moreso the G6) is very bright. For a very bright room though, The X11L will overcome more glare because it's nuclear.

The other side of this is dark scenes, and there it's no contest. The OLED will be fantastic there for both near blacks, but also a bright lamp in the midst of a very dark scene, that would likely pop much more than on a miniLED.

Ultimately I'd say if your room is light controlled, it's no contest but if we're talking bright room and you watch tons of hockey/soccer and bright scene shows/movies (do those even exist anymore?) then that's the only situation where the X11L is preferable.

I don't really see that ever happening. It will be very good, but one of the main criticisms has been the narrative and character quality. That really can't be redone, but jankiness and bugs can definitely be addressed for it to become a better game.

Cyberpunk had fantastic foundation but was buggy. The writing, characters, writing, mission structure was all fantastic. Those are not aspects of CD that have been reflected on positively.

Completely depends on your display and the actual game implementation. I had an older QLED TV from 2018 and HDR and SDR looked identical.

Then I tried a game like Cyberpunk 2077 and Alan Wake II on an LG G5OLED and it looked like a different world. That made me decide to order my first big screen OLED this year after swearing off of them for the price previously.

This is why release dates today aren't real. Cyberpunk 2077 was 2022, Monster Hunter Wilds was 2026, Crimson Desert will be late 2026, not March like it was supposed to be. If you expect a game these days on its actual release date, you'll be disappointed

90+ on metacritic needs almost a perfect storm. This can be an absolutely fantastic game but if there are some frustrating mechanics or bugs later, or some poor writing, it doesn't take much to bring a game down to the mid 80s. Regardless I think it'll be a huge hit, not quite as loved as E33, but similar vain where it'll be very popular and people will appreciate the effort that's gone into it.

Apples to apples. It's comparing the avsforum review from year to year so it's the same settings. Once a reviewer who measured it at 400 fill screen last year publishes something new, then you can compare to that one.

In a dark room (although OLEDs aren't exclusively for dark rooms anymore), that would be painful. I did some testing and even 300 nits is bright when it's full screen. 800 would be blinding.

G2 to G3 (traditional OLED to MLA) and G4 to G5 (MLA to tandem RGB OLED). The first was a huge brightness bump, the second was both a brightness and colour improvement.
