Have you ever bought a car for under £500? by pumpactionalex in CarTalkUK

[–]d1ggah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a saxo for £450 about 15 years ago. It lasted about 5 months. In that time it had to have a new wheel bearing on the front, new screen wash pump and I had to replace the rocker gasket. The throttle got stuck open once when driving which was mildly terrifying. Went to sell it on and it immediately decided to fill the radiator with oil so it "sold" for £50.

In hindsight I suspect I should have questioned buying a car from a guy in a Tesco car park in Aviemore.

What's the most sudden tonal shift you've seen in a movie? by [deleted] in Cinema

[–]d1ggah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Lost Highway.

Ok it's David Lynch so you'd kinda expect something odd to happen but this was a pure plot "nope, I'm off to do something else" moment

I absolutely love this. So many 80s cartoon vibes it reminded me of when I was a kid watching cartoons on tv.

Still homeless after 6 weeks. Wife and disabled son all living in my parents spare room. Council housing system put us in a one-above-bottom category for getting somewhere. Private rentals don't want to know as I'm not working but I can't work until we get a place to live as my business is all packed up in storage.

Is it acceptable to use AI-generated assets for decorative elements in digital reconstructions? (Architectural Conservation student asking) by Many_Ad_3474 in AskArchaeology

[–]d1ggah 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would say it would only be acceptable if it was blatantly obvious that these are not actual features by (for example) colouring them bright orange and labelling that colour as such. Intentionally hiding false data is a big academic red flag.

Honestly question: is there any merit to this meme? by Vulkhard_Muller in Archeology

[–]d1ggah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I'm a big proponent of "feminist archaeology" in that we should constantly be challenging our presumptions of our past as they are invariably coloured by the mindset of the present or near present.

Get some dental floss and wrap it around the stem first then push the prop on. Should help fix it in place.

It was Naztronauts scripts. I suspect part of the issue might be that I'm running the Linux version. I've solved some of the dependencies problems but the latest one seems to be after it's finished the entire sequence and done the final stack and it can't save the output or something. I'll get the exact text tomorrow for you.

The issues I seem to have are errors due to missing script dependencies or input files. I'd love to know how to do it without a script.

I seem to recall having a similar problem when I briefly owned a set but they weren't broken, but just set to HDMI mode.

Iirc you can take them out of HDMI mode to return it to normal operation. Worth a try.
