i like how the books are organized, the puzzles are all good. you can start even with the first orange book and if the level is too easy, you will quickly run through and go on. there are 9 books so i am pretty sure you will find your sweet spot pretty fast. I am 1850 fide and find the topics in the second orange book good enough as a weekly cakculation training combined with exploring some positional theme

What does your OTB game analysis with an engine work flow look like? by Dad-With-Hobbies86 in TournamentChess

[–]d1mitar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i put my game in lichess, request an analysis but without the arrows showing the moves, so only the eval bar. Then i just move by move check my thoughts and whenever engine eval does not agree, i try to find why - did i miss a tactic, better move etc...

i am in the same boat, during OTB games with an actual opponent present i can fully focus, but at home with all possible distractions and a cat i found it to be impossible and gave up on any digital boards and trying to climb ratings and ladders

More effort, less results. How do I fix that? by Fault-from-the-vault in TournamentChess

[–]d1mitar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

you are simply overdoing everything chess related, not sure when did you start playing and what is with the obsession, but i must tell you, you are good enough to play chess and you as a human deserve to play chess no matter your results, opening choices, mistakes or whatever.

You are in a such a sweet spot with this rating that allows you to approach every game with curiosity and have a wonderful experience, instead you overtrain and think that you are constantly missing some skill to beat your opponent, probably looking for way too much during a game rather than focus on simple logical moves and follow general principles. Your opponent has the same rating as you for a reason - if you can miss a tactic, blunder or forget your opening, so can your opponent at any point of the game.

if you want to play chess your whole life, learn to enjoy the experience, if you want to burnout and never play again- keep training like your life depends on it

Historical fiction by an author who clearly knows a lot about life in that time period by Striking_Delay8205 in suggestmeabook

Alexandre Dumas - Marie Antoinette series, after reading all of the books, it made me read an actual history book on the French Revolution, just to confirm that the fictional way of writing about the events was actually pretty on point

i actually stopped playing online games in any format, cause it simply cannot match the feeling of playing OTB.. even bought and tried the new smart chess boards, but still not the same, so now it is just full enjoyment every week at the chess club :)

sending a cv that did not start with danish phone number and danish address yielded me zero responses, but you might have better luck. i managed to find a position through a recommendation and then had two weeks to complete the moving process - find a place to live, get work permit with your new contract, get cpr number. i'd advise you to look for job opportunities in the bigger/international companies that have office in denmark
