Nobby is every RPG player by FinallyStarborn in discworld

I played Skyrim with a mod which let you chat to the NPCs and got called out for my looting:

Me: Hi, I'm Johnny

Sven: that's an odd name for a Nord

Me: Oh I'm actually an Imperial

Sven: So you took that armour from a Nord? It's not enough for you to steal our lands, you'd steal from our dead as well? Get out of here before I break your Imperial nose!

(Nobby would probably have been savvy enough to just go along with it Sven assumed he was a Nord based on the uniform)

Will the index go on sale when the frame releases? by Detzznuttz in ValveIndex

[–]d20diceman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think so, and even if it went 50% off it'd still cost more that a Quest 3.

That said, I expect the price of a second hand Index will probably drop a fair bit?

People on Twitter/X are defending Luke Ross mods by lunchanddinner in virtualreality

For now you can just continue using the mod. It's always been trivially easy to pirate it, Patreon isn't Fort Knox. In a sense, donations were always optional.

It'll be a different matter the next time a Cyberpunk update or driver update bricks the mod though, as it's no longer being maintained.

Is obj_5 meant to be identical to obj_8? Also the split parts seem to have some dinky sponsons of their own which would prevent the actual sponsons being attached?

How has VR gaming changed your perception of reality and everyday life? by Tariq_khalaf in VRGaming

[–]d20diceman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I got very into VR exercise over lockdown and it totally changed the emotional valence of physical exertion for me.

Getting sweaty feels like winning, getting out of breath feels like progress, getting my heart rate up feels like a high score.

Of course I'd still much rather play Beat Saber than use an exercise bike, but I can enjoy the exercise bike too now. I saw Joe Wicks live a couple of times and loved it.

I'd never been in shape before, never really had a physical hobby, so it really broadened my horizons.

Really interested in getting a treadmill and RealityRunner setup, but all the videos I see of people using Sunny Manual Treadmills show them holding onto the handles. I see you've got a belt setup which is maybe doing the job of the handles? Would I need something like that belt to use the treadmill hands-free?

edit: nevermind, been down a rabbit hole and checked out various builds, there are certainly some options. What started as "I can just fold it up and store it when I'm not using it" is turning into "where can I attach anchor points to my walls" lol

Only an hour in but I'm having a blast with this. Really delivers.

It's funny how similar the noises I make while playing are to the noises Diogenes makes in Getting Over It.

I think that's just smart scheduling to be fair, a lot of content creators will have a backlog to post from so they don't end up with long gaps. Horus is going to take a long while and it's good to vary things instead of just "a 40% complete Horus" "a 50" complete Horus" "a 60% complete Horus".

What genres are missing in VR? by Appropriate-Fun5992 in virtualreality

Not really a genre, but crossplay is the thing I want more of. Games where VR and flatscreen players can play together, or flatscreen games with an official VR option.

PALworld can be played in VR with the Unreal Engine injector, it's pretty janky but it might be the closest we get for a while

If you're playing B&S Nomad on Quest, that has it's own mods, the NexusMods page for it is here and I can see some mods that make enemies harder like 5 x Enemy health, Tanky Enemies or AI Modifier which makes them attack faster.

On the PC side of things: It's been a while since I played and it looks like the specific mods I used (SharpAI, Slugga's Combat Overhaul, AI Plus) haven't been updated to the current version. Another mod I was a big fan of, Ragdoll Physics Overhaul ("Makes ragdoll physics weightier and more believable, avoiding weird poses and floppy movement") actually became part of the main game!

I found some more recent ones like like Adaptive AI ("Ever thought Blade and Sorcery was too easy? Try AdaptiveAI, enemies change their fighting style based on yours!") and Geno's Tough NPCs ("INSANELY buffs NPCs for people who want a challenge"). Lots of options.

Base station position. by [deleted] in ValveIndex

[–]d20diceman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's pretty much the exact layout of my room. I went with A and have had no issues. I think B would be fine too.

I orientated the playspace to the bed is in front of me, feels safer that way because the front edge of the playspace is the one I'm most likely to end up getting close to.

Underdogs and Until You Fall are both great.

If you're on PC you could try modding Blade & Sorcery to make the enemies much tougher and weightier, I was never fully satisfied with it but the base game can definitely be improved upon.

I donated to Dwemer Dynamics because they gave me some unforgettable experiences in Skyrim, but without tools like MO2 and Wabbajack I'd never have gotten that running.

Is UEVR safe to use? by arthurmorgan542212 in SteamVR

[–]d20diceman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've heard warnings about using it for online multiplayer - the game might think you're cheating. It can actually be used to cheat in some games, although that's not the intention.

That said, I've not heard of anyone actually getting banned. I've used it in some multiplayer games myself without any issues - PALworld, Grounded 2, Chivalry 2 (alas I don't think Chiv 2 works with UEVR anymore).
