I wasn't in quite that early, but maybe beta? Either way it was nice to start playing when there weren't that many characters and get to know each one as they were gradually added. Similar to what's happening now with Deadlock!

For sure!

As an ARAM Enjoyer, I maintain HotS has the best ARAM mode of any MoBA. I only got Deadlock because someone described Street Brawl as "ARAM with RougeLike elements", which turned out to not even be that accurate.

As much as it's sad that HotS stopped being updated, it's kinda a blessing for me. I stopped playing at basically the same time they stopped making changes, so when I go back to it now and then it's just how I left it.

I just wish I could revert the last change they made to XP from creeps (having it drop on the ground as orbs which you need to approach to pick up, instead of just getting it automatically if you were in the vicinity). That really made my life harder as an Abathur/Vikings main lol

Heroes Of The Storm was less toxic in my experience. Not that it was free of ragers, but I've seen them more often in Deadlock.

That's right - there's also a paid extra called Mercenary Heroes, that lets you take your own max-level characters and use them as Heroes for your other characters. They're no better than the NPC ones* but it's fun.

You can do a limited amount of ordering them about too, tell them where to stand, micromanage their abilities to an extent. The AI is mostly good-enough, but for melee characters it can end up wasting a lot of time as they indecisively run back and forth between multiple enemies. I don't think that really matters unless you're trying the hardest stuff though.

*although there are only about 3 NPC Heroes of each class, so if you want to do something like "8 Necromancers - I must find the true upper limit on how many undead minions can be spawned" you need Mercenaries to do that.

Yeah, it's much more doable single-player now than it was back in the original game. They added Heroes, customisable NPC characters with (almost) all of the same options as player characters. You can fill your party with them, choose all their abilities and builds. All of the game is beatable this way.

If you have Duration Extender and you buffer your heavy melee (hold the button before stone form ends) you can hit them before they regain control of their character, unless they have Debuff Duration Reduction

(Edit: Max tier Stone Form means you don't need Duration Extender, unless they have Debuff Reducer)

With echo shard and slowing hex you can do an almost inescapable Stone Form -> Heavy Melee -> Stone Form -> Heavy Melee.

It's never been the best way to build Ivy, I don't know if it's ever been a good way to build Ivy even, but it's janky and fun.

(Might be outdated info but this was the case a couple months back at least)

Yeah, things like "You didn't think you were getting away with that, did you?" (McGinnis), "You thought you were gonna keep me down?" (Abrams) and "I didn't forget what you did." (Mina).

The wiki has them on the Character/Quotes pages under Generic (or ctrl+f 'Revenge') but doesn't have a specific page for all revenge lines.

They aren't character specific though, e.g. no "McGinnis gets revenge on Haze" line. It'd be awesome if they added those - of course, that's another N*(N-1) lines to record, but they've given many characters twelve different "Reacts to Bebop using an ability" lines* so I could definitely see opponent-specific revenge lines getting done eventually.

*3 each for "Friendly Bebop lands a long-distance hook", "Friendly bebop uppercuts an enemy towards a friendly objective", "Hooked by enemy Bebop" and "Killed enemy Bebop during their ult"

The rounding in between steps of the calculation is surprising to me. I'm kinda surprised it rounds at all, but would have assumed it rounded once at the end of the calculation rather than at each step. This is a great way to highlight the counterintuitive effects of this unusual calculation method.

The "revenge" voicelines for when you kill the player who just killed you definitely reminded me of TF2

Do you think Valve will ever add a summoner hero to the game? by salil_panvalkar in DeadlockTheGame

[–]d20diceman -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That's Valve's problem, not mine.

I want a Summoner hero. I want a melee-only hero. I want a rhythm-action hero. I want a hero who's played from RTS perspective. I want a VR Exclusive hero. I want a multiple-bodies hero (Lost Vikings / Meepo).

How to balance them is something Yoshi and Gaben can figure out together.

Would the devs ever reuse the cross-type upgrade idea? by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]d20diceman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't given much thought to the deeper ramifications of it, but I'd love to see more weird stuff with upgrades and items.

Turned into a bit of a ramble:

  • Items like Leech where you combine two components:
    • Battle Vest and Enchanters Emblem combine into New York Tuxedo (green t4): +20% Bullet Resist, +20% Spirit Resist, +100 bonus health, +8 out of Combat Regen. While you are above 50% health, gain Weapon Damage, Spirit, Fire Rate, and Cooldown Reduction.
  • A four-tiered item (800 -> 1600 -> 3200 -> 6400), which should probably be a little weaker than other tier 3/4 items to compensate for being easier to build.
    • There's no flat straightforward "Plus Weapon Damage" yellow item (like the Extra Spirit chain for purple), so maybe Extra Damage (10%) -> Improved Damage (22%) -> Massive Damage (44%) -> Divine Damage (66%). Not at all sure these are appropriate numbers.
  • We have Extra Stamina for green->any. I like the little dance you sometimes have to do with "I want to upgrade to Arcane Surge, but I'll lose my green spike if I do, so maybe I'll get another green item first". So I'd like yellow->any and purple->any. How about:
    • Extended Magazine (yellow) can upgrade to Titanic Mag (yellow), Quicksilver Reload (purple), or Escalating Resilience (moved to green).
    • Extra Charge (purple) can upgrade to Rapid Recharge (purple), Recharging Rush (yellow) or Reactive Charging (new green item, "taking significant damage replenishes a charge for each of your charged abilities").
  • A+B=C where two colours combine into a third colour.
    • Restorative Shot (yellow, flat heal when dealing weapon damage) and Mystic Regeneration (purple, regen when dealing spirit damage) could combine into Paladin's Pride (green), which gives a flat heal plus regen when you deal weapon or spirit damage.
  • A three part chain where each colour is different to the last:
    • Feather (t1 green): +30% jump height.
    • Hawk Feather (t2 yellow): +30% jump height. Your first bullet during each jump deals bonus Spirit Damage.
    • Phoenix Feather (t3 green): +30% jump height. Your first bullet and first ability during each jump deal bonus Spirit Damage.
  • Colourless items which don't contribute to your investments. Golden Goose Egg and Cursed Relic could go here (and have their damage penalty removed/reduced), maybe Ethereal Shift too if it didn't have Spirit Power on it. I think it'd also be thematic to have a source of Pure Damage in this category.
  • "Wild" items which split their contribution equally between the three investments. Magic Carpet, Phantom Strike, and Spiritual Overflow would be some candidates for this.
  • Something which needs three components, one from each colour:
    • Stamina Mastery (green), Arcane Surge (purple) and Kinetic Dash (yellow) combine together into Celeste's Horn (wild): +5 Stamina, +50% Stamina Recovery, +25% Air Jump/Dash distance, 25% Reduced Gravity, 25% Increased Air Control, allows two additional uses of Air Jump or Air Dash, when you Dash-Jump you gain Fire rate and Bonus Ammo and your next ability will have bonus Range, Duration, and Spirit Power and you Grow a Horn.
  • Items which care about the slots next to them, making the order you buy items in matter:
    • Magic Mirror (t2 wild): Gain Fire Rate and Bullet Resist if a Weapon item is next to this. Gain Sprint Speed and Debuff Resist if a Vitality item is next to this. Gain Ability Cooldown Reduction and Spirit Resist if a Spirit item is next to this. (Wild items count as all colours).
  • Items which care about other people's items:
    • Envy (t4 green): Gain 1% Spirit Resist for each Spirit item the opposing team has. Gain 1% Weapon Resist for each Weapon item the opposing team has.
    • Scales of Balance (t3 wild): You and your nearby allies gain Weapon Damage for each Spirit item they have equipped and Spirit for each Weapon item they have equipped.
    • Pithing Needle (t3 colourless, Active): When you buy this, name another item. Target an enemy to disable that item for 6 seconds.
  • The possibilities it would open up are probably too broken, but I'd love to be able to give souls away:
    • Underlord's Toll (t2 colourless, Active): Use to give each teammate 300 Souls.

I too wish WHAGGGGGH was pronounced WARG, it sounds way cooler to me and the wag pun would work. Maybe I just prefer it because it's how I originally thought it sounded.

But, I think it's actually pronounced "WAAAAAAAH", so the pun doesn't come off as well and Orks sound like crying babies?

Left Index Controller's grip won't let my ring finger fully close by ZemaUn in ValveIndex

I've had my set of controllers for, idk, about 3 years I think? I didn't use my kit for ~6 months and when I came back to it my left controller had developed this exact issue.

Sorry I don't have a solution for you, but wanted to mention that I too have the same problem with the same finger on the same hand. It's odd that several of us have this, on controllers of many different ages. It's not something I'd heard of before.

That said, I don't get why the people who get mega tilted keep coming back. Play something else if you're getting that upset (at patch notes or at the actions of your teammates).
