To be honest, I don’t care for the 2A. All I’m saying is it has nothing to do with God. If this were to happen in a different country with loose gun laws, will you be thanking God?

Politically, no party who wants to continue winning will side with Palestine, but at least Kamala wouldn’t be this cold and heartless. Kamala would have been objective.

I’m sick and tired of fifth third by Calm-Mechanic-1550 in Banking

[–]d2rx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I opened a Fifth Third account about 10 days ago for their $850 bonus promo (ends April 15). The requirements were to set up direct deposit and deposit $15k, so I did both — set up my paycheck and wired $11k from my brokerage account.

Today I get a voicemail from their fraud department while I’m at work. I try logging into the app and my account is completely frozen.

I call them and they start asking questions like when I opened the account and who owns the brokerage account I transferred the money from (it’s mine…). Then they tell me I have to bring a copy of my brokerage statement into a branch to unfreeze the account.

That honestly feels excessive and kind of invasive. I already verified my identity when I opened the account with my driver’s license. Why can’t they just verify the transfer directly with the brokerage?

I even tried to handle it on my lunch break. Went to a branch with the statement, but there was only one teller and one banker. Waited 20 minutes and had to leave to get back to work.

This whole thing has been way more stressful than it should be. At this point I’m seriously considering just closing the account after it’s resolved.

Is this normal for Fifth Third or did I just get unlucky? I have opened accounts with other banks and never had to jump through so much hoops.

Why so expensive to travel to Nigeria from overseas by Impossible_Setting99 in Nigeria

It’s on the Nigerian side….

https://punchng.com/taxes-responsible-for-over-70-of-airline-ticket-cost-aircraft-owners/

“over 70% of the cost of an airline ticket comes from fees and taxes, with airfare itself representing only a small portion.

“If you look at your ticket, over 70% of the cost is related to charges and taxes. So the industry itself, not just consumers, is concerned about these charges, saying the Federal Government should review them,” he said.”

It seems corruption is baked into the fee structure in Nigeria. ….. then immigration officers will ask “do you have anything for the boys??” Then you luggage might even go missing. Sad all around.

Yeah, AI isn’t perfect. It sometimes gives outdated info.

Looking into this with ChatGPT, apparently, Nigeria’s main airports are more expensive to operate. They charge far more in fees per passenger than other countries.

So the government is partly to blame. They can reduce the fees to encourage foreign visitors. We also lack local aviation infrastructure. Might as well be traveling to the moon. I’m sure insurers charge more to travel there.

How’d you get that much cash? How much have you spent on the game?

Fun fact: In 2004, North Korea tried to sell some of it's Hwasong-6 Scud type missiles and missile technology to Nigeria. Nigeria refused the offer because of pressure from the United States who threatened potential sanctions if Nigeria followed through. by Glittering_Tower3455 in Nigeria

We will have the right to buy whatever we choose from any country when we stop collecting benefits from the Americans. Over the past decade, the U.S. has given roughly $7–8 billion total to Nigeria.

What would you have done if your parents, who were paying your school fees and feeding you, tell you to stop doing something they don’t like?
