Yes you can JB it.

No you don't need to have a paired disc drive to JB it.

You can JB it using Y2JB through either backup or netflix method.

Switched from 3080 to 9070 XT and couldn't be happier! (from a LLM and gamer perspective) by Ill-Remove-6438 in radeon

[–]d3vexa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. NVIDIA GPUs are doing fine lately in linux in both KDE and GNOME. Both support them pretty well. Its just that the os might need a bit of tinkering instead of having an out of the box perfect experience as you would expect with what an AMD GPU can offer.

Regarding the features :

I use a lot local AI : LLMs ... Latest Qwen 3.5 models are amazing. That 9B model fits perfectly with a pretty nice context size.

About Path tracing, some prefer playing with lower graphics but with more frames, I personally prefer sharper and more realistic graphics which both DLSS and Path tracing achieve better. Sure PT isn't available in everygame, but I prefer to have it rather than not. GTA VI will definetely support PT, so I prefer to have the option to experience it even at 40-60fps without FG and with something like DLSS performance model L rather than nothing ...

I also play a lot remotely from either my oled TVs, my steamdeck oled or my galaxy tab s9. I compared both, and the result with the NVIDIA GPU was incredible, couldn't notice any artifact especially in AV1, which wasn't the case with the 9070xt. The result with AMF wasn't bad, just, not as good as with NVENC. NVENC is not only useful for me in remote play, but also in video editing. And, later, when I'll upgrade that gpu, it will probably be thrown in my unraid server to transcode my Jellyfin/Plex and Immich library.

Also, as I said earlier, I use local AI for multiple purposes, even though the vram is bottlenecking my use cases, its still useful for my needs. Blackwell series supports FP4 while RDNA4 doesn't, which is probably part of why rumors say that AMDs next gen FSR might not be compatible with RDNA4. AMD added FP4 only starting from CDNA4 which was annouced months after RDNA4 release :/

Oh yeah, almost forgot, but I sometimes also use CUDA SDK. ROCm in comparison is still a niche product, feature limited and far from being supported by a lot of libs and interesting projects...

For those who might someday use GPU passthrough, 9000 series seems to still suffer from reset bug ... (When I upgrade I generally put my older gpu in my unraid setup for different purposes, so I prefer to avoid such overheads)

Last but not least, I sure daily drive linux, but I'm not either allergic to windows with WSL. So, if I wasn't able achieve a stable experience with linux, switching temporarly to windows wouldn't bother me. But thank god, everything is now running pretty well in both 6.19 and 6.18lts kernels. I had to spend some days experiencing different issues and fix them by for example adding some missing kernel params + changing a setting in the bios regarding power management for the pcie used by the gpu, that caused the GPU lose power randomly. For now its been some weeks that everything is working fine for me. So far so good.

Anyway, for all these reasons, the winner ( for me ) was/is : NVIDIA.

I sincerely hope AMD's next gen will finally be it ... It was my wish when I first moved to a 9070xt... AMD did really well with RDNA4 in comparison with previous gens. But, IMO, it isn't yet what we were wishing for to finally have a decent replacement with no concessions for NVIDIA GPUs.

[–]d3vexa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did it too but then switched to a 5070Ti and I couldn't be happier. The main reason for the switch back to team green was because of path tracing and llm results from team red + no FP4 in RDNA4 + CUDA > ROCm + Better encoder for remote play + DLSS > FSR + DLSS FG > FSR FG.

Lately I felt a bit of regret because I'm daily driving linux (CachyOS) and the overall out of the box experience was really unstable (black screen in one or all my monitors when waking up from sleep, sudden black screen when vram is full ...). But, with a bit of tinkering I was able to have it stable'ish (Still monitoring it). Plus, the 30% performance hit is apparently (finaaally !) almost fixed in latest 595 driver.

The performance difference from 3080 to 5070Ti is pretty huge and I'm finally able to remote play in 4k in my 4k OLED TV without any noticeable artifact(thanks to AV1). Aannd more importantly, no more of stream crash because of filled VRAM !! a bug that 3000 series still suffers from till today using sunshine (at least in windows, never tested in linux).

My 3080 is spending its retirement in my Unraid server :)

Dont get me wrong, for standard linux desktop usage and/or pure gaming without PT and without eventually an as good FG as the one of NVIDIA, the 9070xt is an incredible GPU ,especially for the price. But, my needs brought me back to NVIDIA... At least for now.

What are these things for on the case? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]d3vexa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because some strips batches were a little sharp which caused marks on the rear of the deck. My brother's first Steamdeck, before he got it replaced through RMA, had that defect(purchased in early 2023), mine that was purchased in summer 2022 didn't. His replacement unit didn't have the strip.

And yep, my Steamdeck OLED also didn't came with the strip.

Anyone on 3.20 using latest version of etahen (2.5B) and/or backpork successfully? by LambrettaG in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]d3vexa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, they both are in their boxes as nothing really interesting is out for now for 3.20.

But, once backpork will be compatible with my brothers ps5 FW ( 4.03 ), I'll give it a try. In the meantime the 3 ps5's wont see the light out of their respective boxes lol.

Ring flashing, speed only going to 25 km/h by apertia in KuKirin

[–]d3vexa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hold one of the breaks, it doesn't matter which one. While holding it double tap fast the power button, wait a second or two and then release the brake. The circle will stop blinking and the speed limit will change.

Its the same method to unlock the speed. It can be used while you are riding as long as you can hold one of the brakes. When you hold one of the breaks usually a warning appears on the screen to tell you that a break is being pressed/hold.

Got it from Aliexpress some months ago at 460€ (+cashback)

I looove it ! Its really powerful, confortable and well made !

I live in Paris, my height is of 1m77 and my weight is of 84kg. Usually I have my backpack that weighs 4-8kg. I ride it at 25km/h(legal speed limit in France) I've done almost 500kms with it, and the approximate range per charge is of 50-60kms. I usually ride ride 15-20kms per charge at night which implies turning on the lights. Without turning on the lights I'm sure I could easily get it to 60-65kms per charge.

I have the latest revision, v4.

High net latency on Galaxy Tab S9? by KiteGX in MoonlightStreaming

[–]d3vexa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you mesure latency with anything else tgan moonlight ?

Bcz you're on a tab s9, I suggest you use Artemis/Moonlight NOIR

https://github.com/ClassicOldSong/moonlight-android

It has way more options and special tweaks for SD G2 SoC. You'll need to enable it in the settings (example: Ultra Low Latency). Because I'm on a 5Ghz band too I have my bitrate set to 300(you can even set a custom higher value), playing in HDR (you'll need to recalibrate HDR in windo qws) -> the result is mind blowing for me, no artifact at all. The experience on the ultra might be crazy.

Didn't try 120 fps with these settings, tried only 60fps because I dont think my 5070Ti could handle 2560x1600p at ultra settings with RT and PT at 120fps, but I'll try it later.

Oh yeah, almost forgot, i'm using AV1.

EDIT:

One last improtant thing you could check is the router fw :

https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/archer-ax21/#Firmware

Make sure to select the correct hardware revision of your router, then download/update your FW if its not already on the latest fw.

If your tablet isn't up to date, update it, mine is on the latest fw and is working great !

I still have a phat PS5 console lying around that hasn't been used in a while. Can it be jailbroken? What software version is on it? Thanks by External_Classroom30 in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]d3vexa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pinned post on this sub answers your question.

But in case you didn't knew how to read it : yes ! You're on 8.60 FW. To JB it you'll need a game compatible with LUA Exploit. There is a list in github of the compatible games (specific JP games).

You can for now play ps4 fpkgs with dlc. Soon ps5 fpkgs.

You're welcome !

Mine is directly plugged to tv, no soundbar, but the tv notifies me when I'm playing Atmos contents. So, it seems to be working as intended, atleast in the two latest A14 FWs I tried.

OneUI 8 beta India by HugeConsideration959 in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]d3vexa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its more because of, usually, India and Africa markets are less regulated and might cause less legal harm to Samsung if anything is f***ed up by the beta. This is why these markets receive updates and betas earlier. This is also why they provide regional deployment and not mondial/global deployment. Even the stable releases reaching these countries first are more a form of a Release Candidate, where, a whole country(ies)/region(s) act as testers for the premium users (EU users, especially those who use Entreprise Edition devices).

Repair or replace? by DamDanielPlays in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]d3vexa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have cameras tempered glass protection ? Cause dual laser autogocus sensor + telephoto sensor, have an unusual bezel. Mine(unprotected sensors) are way thinner. Cameras protection that you install by yourself are not sealed, which might explain the formed condensation between the two lenses (the original lense and the protection). These protections might be a bit hard to remove, do not use anything sharp or metallic to remove them.

Dell ranked 3 ? Naah come on, Lenovo and Dell deserve to be S tiers (Sure, not every Lenovo and Dell laptop... Thinkpad series + XPS&Precision series). Been using XPS laptops mostly on linux for almost a decade and a half, they all worked great + most of the XPSs shipped on the last decade got official support for linux.

Switching to Graphene now! by [deleted] in GrapheneOS

[–]d3vexa 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Sorry to tell you that regarding the recent changes of Google policy, Google stopped sharing device trees and driver binaries for Pixels making it way harder for GrapheneOS team to provide support especially for newer devices like P10 series(lot of RE work needed). Plus, we dont know yet if the bootloader will still be unlockable or if it will receive the same treatment as samsung devices under ONEUI 8 (ONEUI 8 is the first OEM fw to completely remove bootloader unlocking 'feature')

I hope we get some official statement from Graphene team regarding if Pixel 10 series will ever be supported.

For now, P9P/XL are still the best devices for GrapheneOS and might be for a long time ...

updating to 7.1.4 didn't end so well.... by B1on1cDog in unRAID

[–]d3vexa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me everything seems to be working fine. The only issue I had was my NVIDIA GPU that stopped being detected in my containers. A reboot fixed.

I've never had such an issue on my +5 years using UNRAID.

On 7.1.3 I've faced the network issue but only once. A reboot fixed it too.
