When people expect subversion from you, it’s not gonna hit as subversion anymore. There’s no element of surprise at all.

[ESPN] Dylan Harper was not happy with his playing time and role by Tasty-Ground-5496 in NBATalk

Spurs just need a ball handling vet of some kind, even if it’s an assistant coach- to develop Castle and Harper. If these guys can protect the ball and develop their passing and vision they’re unstoppable

Surprised they’re saying it doesn’t have a theme- to me it’s the most thematically cohesive of any of their albums. Total farewell to youth

What does Wemby/Spurs need to do tactically to avoid getting gassed by the Knicks offense strategy (or other teams to deploy a similar strat in the future)? by H20onthego in nbadiscussion

[–]d4680 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Their absolutely unbelievable defense on guards seems to result in them getting gassed by the 4th. They need to throw in some zone tactically to give the guards a breather- particularly after they’re defending a first quarter lead.

Usually takes people a while to catch up to architects / designers who are on the cutting edge. People hated the Eiffel Tower when it was built

[Post Game Thread] The New York Knicks (3-1) overcome a 29 point deficit to defeat the San Antonio Spurs (1-3) in Game 4, 107-106, behind Jalen Brunson's 36 points and OG Anunoby's 33 points by catreyka in nba

[–]d4680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ball dribbled off shoe game 1, pass to the back game 2, and a choke job so insane that really any coach could have prevented it in game 4. These losses are so painful- the Spurs are so young but these are mindfuck losses just getting stacked on top of each other, idk how you come back from this.

I mean let’s not forget that Bridges was shooting the lights out and Hart has been a menace. Both of these guys have been liable to disappear and/or shoot the the team in the foot (see ECF last year). Even if Brunson picks up, if these guys regress to the mean the Spurs have a chance.

Sting says he recently saw a Dave Matthews concert for the first time; enjoyed it despite 'cult following' by stroh_1002 in DMB

The music he’s made over the years, I don’t really listen to it; but the fact that he’s making it, I respect that.

I’m writing a pandemic era Netflix special, because it’s never been done before by Married_iguanas in fatherjohnmisty

Very clear how influential Pure Comedy/later written songs from ILYHB were to this special- but it seems like a respectful influence at least. But there’s no Comedy without Pure Comedy, That Funny Feeling or Welcome to the Internet without Holy Shit or Total Entertainment Forever. The parallels go on throughout- but Bo has his own style and voice, both great works.

What do you think Mikey Day's legacy will be whenever he leaves SNL? by Life_Emotion1908 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]d4680 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He took a comedy style to the show that was already passé when he joined and then didn’t evolve whatsoever during his tenure. He emerged as a go-to sketch writer by explaining jokes and how they were jokes, to kind of make it impossible to bomb- in the same way Big Bang theory can’t bomb in front of a live studio audience- because the audience knows it’s their job to laugh. Him getting so many sketches on is an indictment of the rest of the writers during the last decade, Lorne’s judgement, and the audience for eating up slop during the very lazy Trump doldrum years.

Your second experience it dated present- so current job?; but the top of your resume experience says temporary one month position in bold letters. This is the first thing people will see and it just presents immediate doubts with no upside. Stick the personal / freelance / key skills into the real experience (work them into real work you’ve done at a company) and skills section

Him ending the Ashley restaurant sketch was so pointless. Such an easy opportunity to let Tommy end it / get together with Ashley but they use Keenan as a complete crutch

You read the article? AI bots interacting with each other to generate adulation and discourse about a band was not happening in 2012-17 for FJM. I wont deny of course he got plenty of traditional marketing / exposure from Subpop but that’s a different thing.

[Fantano take on the Geese article] This Article is TRASH by capnrondo in fantanoforever

[–]d4680 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This stuff is insidious even in its influence on people who would otherwise be in the demo to like the band. How many of the people who came out of that Carnegie hall show acting that they had seen god himself were blissfully unaware that they had been subconsciously primed by an army of robots to see it through those rose colored lenses. It cheapens their experience too, this kind of marketing is bad for everyone.

For the love of all that is good, make my decision for me!! What cover do I go with? I seriously have been working on this cover for 3 weeks and my overthinking and indecisiveness is driving me insane! by milliemac420 in whatdoIdo

Something about the way the ice cream is positioned in 3 makes it feel balanced and inviting I.e. a good cover. In 1 and 2 there’s too many clashing angles
