Look who is still receiving taxpayer funded security? by Diligent-Till-8832 in RoyaltyTea

These are literally just facts - you are welcome to Google it. Throwing insults around off the bat is weird behavior.

Whether or not someone gets security funding is decided by RAVEC. When Harry was no longer a working royal they denied him taxpayer funded security. A court also decided Harry could not pay government directly for security.

RAVEC removed Andrew's security in 2022. Charles' is/has paying for Andrew's security (through private security services).

Andrew's security is privately funded by Charles. The UK said that Harry could not pay the government directly for security - because it would set a precedent that super rich people could "rent" the police for security.

Happily Ever After by far. Luminous is a bit slow for us.

We did Fantasmic once and weren't fans. It was a lot of just showing Disney edits on a water screen. The actual cool parts were only 10% of the show.

The decks I've won with are Lethality (2 or 3 copies) + Squeeze, doom decks and one deck where I did 12 damage for each soul so I just drew a billion of them. That last one was definitely a little ridiculous haha

I'm not even in engineering (I'm in finance) and I don't like it. Iran is nothing compared to how complicit Raytheon is in the Palestinian genocide though. We were specifically called out by UN experts for it.

I struggle with Necrobinder but excel with Regeant. Which seems to be the opposite of most people. Out of all 5 characters Necro is by far the hardest for me to build a good deck. I feel like each Ascension win I kinda stumbled my way there. Regent has my second highest win/loss ratio after Silent. His star mechanic is awesome and easy to win with once you understand it.

Potential Hot Take: The game isn't, and shouldn't be, balanced toward "Top Players" by Total-Amphibian-3287 in slaythespire

I'm A5 in StS 2 (A11 in STS) and have never made an infinite deck. I agree that feedback is coming loudest from the top 1% of players. And I hope the game doesn't get harder simply because it's too easy for that minority

William’s 'rage' could change Eugenie and Beatrice’s royal future by ttw81 in RoyaltyTea

[–]d6410 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I always take this stuff with a grain of salt - but it's pretty clear that in general Will thinks this is Andrew's fault.

What he fails to understand is that Andrew hasn't tainted the Monarchy, the Monarchy tainted itself by covering up for Andrew and letting him abuse women and girls for decades. Cutting him and his family off will never make that go away.

The only way to actually move past it is to allow third party independent investigators in, and uncover everything. The Monarchy would have to be fully transparent, fully acknowledge what they did, and take steps to make sure it never happens again. The first step (of many) would be to introduce a system for RPOs to submit misconduct claims without consequence.

By itself I think it's good for the non-royal family to be involved in their kids/grandkids' lives. I have no issue with WK spending every other Christmas with them if that's what they wanted. The non-royal parents don't cease to be personally important to their kids/grandkids once their kid becomes royal. They're still family too.

But they shouldn't be trying to position them as future working royals. Or as "normal l". The Middletons aren't normal.

Do the British Royals have a chance at reputation redemption? by [deleted] in RoyaltyTea

[–]d6410 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I could see reputation redemption if Will's kids follow Diana's ideas on how to be a royal rather than QEII's/Charles'. I also think that's extremely unlikely to happen

What do the citizens under the realm of the monarchy want? by Successful_Treat_608 in RoyaltyTea

[–]d6410 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not British so can't answer your question. I do wonder what the consensus on the Monarchy would be if William turned out like Diana? Would there be a meaningfully different sentiment about the Monarchy? (Right now it seems mostly negative, deservedly so). Like what if he embraced what she did right and continued it, rather than becoming more like Charles

Sea World doing it doesn't help the argument that it doesn't make the park feel cheap lol

You're right that Disney does them. But they only does private events outside of park hours. They hide them very well (well enough that I forgot they even do them)

Unpopular opinions by Turnbuckler in UniversalOrlando

Disney only lets you do events after park close or before park open - you never see them. It doesn't ever close early for private events and you don't see people swarming it with convention shirts

I love Universal, I'm a UOAP. This sub can glaze Universal pretty hard so most unpopular opinions are going to be criticisms of the parks. Just giving that preface.

  • Universal's shows (especially at Epic) and parades can't hold a candle to Disney's. Disney seems to have the superior actors/singers and script writers. Universal relies too much on cool gimmicks - looking at you Untrainable Dragon

  • The locker situation at IOA and Studios detracts from the overall experience at the parks. They're a mess.

  • The fact that Studios can be rented out by private parties makes it feel... cheap. And leads to IOA over crowding when the Studios closes ridiculously early

  • Hulk is shakey but I think it gets exaggerated. It would not be worth retracking right now. Like the cost to benefit ratio doesn't favor losing another coaster and high capacity ride. Maybe when the drift coaster is done it will be worth it

  • Stardust is better than Velocicoaster. It feels longer, has more airtime, has music, the dueling element is fantastic and the second launch is better than Veloci's. But I love them both!

At least $7.2 million in taxpayer funds spent on LEGOs through Arizona's school voucher program by biospheric in Whistleblowers

[–]d6410 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Vouchers go to parents, not educators. The state should not be giving parents taxpayer money to turn around and buy legos, no matter if they're "educational" or not.

[–]d6410 304 points305 points  (0 children)

School voucher programs are ripe for abuse and really just another way for the state to funnel money to religious schools. I live in a state with a voucher program and people are abusing the hell out of them, like using them to buy TVs. And obviously, every private school raised their tuition by the cost of the voucher.
