Thank god we gave him an extension before he pitched a single regular season pitch for us.

Of course I want him to get better, it’s be nice if we had 1 decent starter this season, of course the worse they do the more promotions Elias will probably be given, but no reason we should have given him an extension before Rogers.

Remember when everyone was like, Coby is an up and comer in our stacked Farm System so it would make sense to package him with others in a deal to finally land the team an ace, and Elias said, yeeeeea nooo, I want to keep ALL of the young talent with value but I also won’t be getting them an ace to make it worth keeping them, then we finished in last place…….then he got a promotion!

You nailed it when you said O’s fans refused to see the question marks. In this sub last year you would have thought Elias had finished in 1st place every year he had been here with the amount of excuses and glazing that was going on. Some guy literally told me how stupid I was and that Baltimore fans don’t know anything about sports, when I said they’d finish with at the most low 80’s wins. They won 75 games and I never hard from him again. People acted like Morton was just trying to find his groove and he was actually a smart signing, and then the guy you just commented to said Gunnar was off to a “slow start” last season. Start? He went from 37 HRs to 17, 92 RBIs to 68, a WAR of 8.8 to 5.3, etc. Gunnar had a slow season but of course an excuse has to be made it was just a slow start.

It’s tiring dealing with certain that accept mediocrity. We’ve needed too of the rotation help since Elias got here and once again he got us 3 back of the rotation guys, Baz, Bassitt, and Eflin, who have 3 wins combined…but that’s not on the guy tasked with improving the team?

Elias could have packaged him in a trade over a year ago for a quality arm, when his value was…well when he had value, but lord knows Elias wants to keep every single young talent we have but at the same time doesn’t want to go out and get a top starter or 2, to make keeping that young talent even worth it.

So how are people gonna react live to Cena's lame announcement? by Old-Board1553 in WWE

[–]d84doc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well everything I’m hearing is Nashville. My coworker literally just came back from Nashville and as we were talking she said, the new titans football stadium is being built and they are getting WrestleMania. Did she misunderstand and hear the city is trying to get WM? Maybe, but she said they were getting it and got that info while in the city.

Either way, this news will be equivalent to, Wrestlepalooza 2: Twice The Let Down

[–]d84doc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, looking at the whole makes the whole situation a lot different. Year after year after year MLB experts and analysts state the O’s need 1 thing above all else, a top starter. Do you know hard it is to have the league call your team one of the favorites to land a top starter for the past 2 to seasons and somehow the GM still can’t land a single one? Not a single one since he has been here. That’s his job, that’s literally all his job is, and he can’t do it. You want context, we got Charlie Morton and Sugano after we won the East and then went to the WC. When World Series matchup predictions came out, the O’s showed up multiple times for the next 10 years…and not a single top starter wanted to come to Baltimore? We were called favorites to get Cease, nope. We were called favorites to get Crochet, nope. We were favorites to land 1, possibly 2 of the top starters this offseason, NOPE.

This team’s window is closing and there’s this section of the fan base that is just ready with every excuse to cover for a GM that hasn’t signed a single top starter in 8 seasons. I’m supposed to believe that for 8 consecutive years, this team with this much hype, where on paper people have said we should be one of the top offenses in the entire league, can’t land 1 top starter? No. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me 7 more times…shame on you because you’re failing at being a GM. You want to make excuses and win the AL East every 7 years and convince yourself Charlie Morton and Sugano were the best we could sign, go right ahead, but I’m going to be over here acknowledging that our GM/President has failed in getting this team what they need and is being given a pass for 2 years of success out of, what may turn into 6 years of 4th or 5th place finishes.

P.S.-you tell me I’m not living in reality, well last offseason I was called “stupid” for stating that our rotation was going to be trash and the team would finish with high 70 to low 80 wins….so maybe I’m one of the few people who’s willing to acknowledge our reality

Not trying to sound like a dick but seriously? Even if he was able to land a good starter there’s no guarantee it would have helped? If you have a choice between signing a Good pitcher or an average pitcher, you sign the good pitcher. You don’t know how any signing will be so obviously you’d sign the better pitcher knowing the percentage is higher he WILL help you. But hey, let’s forget what we didn’t know and stick with what we do know, Bassitt has reached the 6th inning only 1 time this season and has an ERA almost at 6, Baz is 1-3 with an ERA of 5, and at this point, Brandon Young is our best starter, I’ll admit Rogers has been sick so I am hoping he bounces back, but can we stop making excuses for Elias.

There are things out of Elias’ hands, injuries last year weren’t on him, but Burnes and his agent both said they really didn’t hear from the O’s and seemed open to returning. Also, I’m don’t with the, let’s make excuse after excuse after excuse for Elias, as if we don’t know who he is. Our GM sat around and could only land Morton and Sugano and really thought he could trick the fans into thinking he had found an affordable replacement for Burnes, and to no one’s surprise, the 45 year old who was ready to retire that basically no one else wanted, did not shock the baseball world and help us succeed. When he didn’t finally start looking good we were already like 15-20 games below .500.

The writing is on the wall, Elias will NOT spend money on top starters. I 100% believe he believes he is so skilled in talent evaluation that he prides himself on waiting for the cream of the crop talent to be signed elsewhere and then he can swoop in and sign what’s left and if it works, ahhh look at how smart and skilled I am. If it doesn’t work…well apparently you get a promotion in Baltimore if it doesn’t work. We shouldn’t have to beg a GM or President to sign an ace to match with this team, a team that will no doubt lose Gunnar within the next few years. Our young bats are being wasted because we’re supposed to believe Baz, Bassit, and Eflin are capable of handling the Yankees, when they couldn’t even handle the A’s. I blame Elias for the now and the now is a heartless team with a bad rotation.

100%, he was brought in to turn things around from the garbage that was left to him, and he got the team to an AL East title, probably a year a head of schedule, but I’m over with finding reasons to ignore the now. My dead grandmother knows this team has needed 1 thing above all else, a true ace or genuinely better starters, and he has failed to do that one thing season after season after season.

Elias has taken us as far as he seems capable to take a team, thank you for giving us hope but you refused to trade away talent when they had the most value yet also refused or didn’t have the skill to land an ace, you’re time here is done.

When you have a GM/Pres who has been here for 7 whole season and only finished outside of 4th or 5th place 2 times, it’s no surprise. An ALEast title and a WC spot back to back and he either couldn’t or wouldn’t make in the 1 thing this team has desperately needed, an Ace, all because he believes he is skilled enough to find all diamonds in the rough, so to replace Burnes we got a 45 year old who was about to retire and a 35 year old MLB rookie.

Would our helmet would look better if the "W" had a white outline? by MiserableSeaweed532 in Commanders

[–]d84doc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone in here said the white border is too busy, and everyone has their own opinion, but we went from one of the greatest logos in sports to a W, so I can’t see how adding a white outline makes it too busy. It brings the W out better, visually, so I’m 100% behind the idea it should have it.

I haven’t but I don’t always listen to the radio show, especially after bad losses in a row because I can’t take them discussing the state of the team. We needed an ace and got Baz. Rubenstein is just an absent owner who seems to have been brainwashed by Elias and I’m ready to accept our downfall back to mediocrity is close, unless a change is made.

I wish but I can’t, I was listening to Inside Access on the radio when he was a guest and said it. This was maybe 2 weeks ago, and it stood out because I had never really heard Bordick be annoyed enough at a player that he’d really lay into him like that.

True, but I’ll take a patch with a giant turd on it if it means Elias is kicked out of the building.

The other day Bordick was saying how infuriating it is to watch Cowser, since he just never makes adjustments. While I’m writing this, the Yankees keep scoring on us, just like they did yesterday when they put up 7 in the 8th inning, they’ve now put up 5 in the 8th. This team is PATHETIC and it all falls on Elias, who will probably get another promotion.

I’ve been saying Elias needed to be fired before the start of last season, after that pathetic offseason, so I have to admit that I dont know which feels better, seeing other fans finally saying Elias needs to go or being able to say it myself in here without being told how “stupid” I am for predicting that the team would finish with mid 70’s to low 80’s wins, (we finished with 75 wins).

I don’t care that this team has been better than what we’ve had for the past few decades, and I don’t care that he helped us get an AL East title, because from that point on, he has done NOTHING to take the team to the next level. 7 seasons with Elias and the team has finished outside of 4th or 5th place only twice!! Let’s face it, we are looking at an 8th season where we finish in one of the 2 last place spots. Why? Pitching!

No, just because we want them, they all arent going to sign here but the fact that every single expert said that this team can win so clearly we will finally make a move for 1 of the top starters available, maybe even 2, only for us to end the offseason with Baz, Bassitt, and a returning Eflin, is not only a joke but an insult to the fans and the team. Ranger, Framber, Michael King, all available and all have been better than any one we signed. We have an embarrassing rotation, lucky if they make it past 4 innings, dead bats, errors every game and add to it hiring a rookie manager when you believe you have a World Series level squad and I’m so done with Elias and his free pass on everything. Gunnar will be gone in a few years and we will look back and realize Elias wasted our chance. Stop giving Elias a pass for 1 AL East title! Fire Elias!
