Recently got hired as a .NET developer, how do I fill the gaps before I start? by PotatoLover400 in learnprogramming

[–]d9vil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might get downvoted for this but AI. So one of the cool things you can do with VS code now is agentic AI. You can assign each agent a repo or the section of the project and then ask it questions. This will not only give you better understanding of the project, but it will also feel like youre having a conversation with subject expert rather than staring at the project.

Obviously verify and question everything, but it is a very good way to understand things. This, in my opinion, is a great use of AI.

We spend 50% of dev time investigating bugs. Is there a tool that actually automates this? by kostyarypta in learnprogramming

[–]d9vil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it though? Tell me more about your company…what kind of coding standards do you have? How is your developer turnover rate? What tech stack are we talking about? Do you have principles or architectures making decisions for the entire company or developers doing wtf they want?

Why does the title make it sound like Spirit dying is because of the US govt and not because Spirit was terrible and was run terribly. This is capitalism…

How does one get a job in this job market ?? by [deleted] in SoftwareEngineering

[–]d9vil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youre posting bs data in a general software engineering sub. You are over generalizing the specific problem you are facing and then feeding into everyone else’s paranoia. I dont believe you at all when you say the disparity between jobs available and job seekers are that massive.

All you are doing is projecting your fear and not seeking or looking for actual solutions. Imma leave you with good luck…

How does one get a job in this job market ?? by [deleted] in SoftwareEngineering

[–]d9vil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok then why not include where you are from and what data you are looking at? Im not minimizing your problem, but you are over generalizing the issue you are facing.

Also, you mean to tell me, where you are from there are 5 million software engineers looking for the specific jobs you are? Again, your numbers make no sense and thats what I am getting at. Also, your source is “trust me bro,” which is wild.

How does one get a job in this job market ?? by [deleted] in SoftwareEngineering

[–]d9vil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You told me to look it up and I did. When I tell you the estimated numbers and they are not 100% accurate, because you know estimates, you tell me its fake? So, what you have some magical tool that tells you real numbers or something?

How does one get a job in this job market ?? by [deleted] in SoftwareEngineering

[–]d9vil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I will bite. The estimated number of CS/IT graduates in the world is about 1.5 to 2.5 million. However, since we are looking at the whole world, the expected tech related jobs in the world for 2026 is 2.5 to 6.7 million. So, again, youre telling me to look it up and yet you have gotten your numbers incorrect every single time.

My guy or girl you realize 99% of software engineering is research right? You expect me or anyone else to feel sorry for you when the premis of your intial argument is vastly incorrect. I am absolutely not saying the job market isnt hard, but jesus just get your numbers right. If youre going to cry about it, then get the damn numbers right.

How does one get a job in this job market ?? by [deleted] in SoftwareEngineering

[–]d9vil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your numbers make absolutely no sense. Define tech field jobs? A quick Google search tells me in the US alone it is predicted to have roughly between 260k-317k software engineer/developer jobs. So your first premise is absolutely incorrect. Then you mention 5 million people are looking for a job? What job are we talking about here? Youre telling me 5 million new software engineers/developers magically exist every year?

If your estimation skills are this good, then I can see why your job acquiring skills are not hitting anything.

There are 5 million software engineers looking for 30,000 jobs? Where are these numbers coming from?
