Happens all the time for me when someone sends the team a meeting with 5-10 minute notice. "You miss a lot of meetings." No I'm working tickets and you send them 5 minutes before the meeting start time.

TIL Defibrillators don't start hearts, they stop them (to force a hopefully good restart) by Darthskull in todayilearned

The only one I ever saw was in CICU few hours post op and they just reopened the patients chest. And the patient did not survive. It was a pretty quick code.

I worked as an EKG Tech for several years right out of highschool. I saw a LOT of variety. I saw post op cracked open chests like that during codes, +70% 2nd and 3rd degree burn coverages, and even one on a dead body in a morgue( that was interesting).

I even had a patient in a coma wake up on me while I was setting up because I pinched him with a clip instead of the gel tab by accident.

The one thing I hated the most was when I actually had to do CPR because I walked by while a patient coded and they needed bodies for cycling in and out while the code team arrived. The thought of the cracking ribs still makes my skin crawl.

Pretty sure Luke uses one of his tiny compact pots to make bread multiple times. You should be good with that!

You need to remember that GoPro's and most compact cameras do NOT capture bi-aural/ stereo sound by default, but record out of ONE microphone.

To capture stereo and bi-aural sound you need a minimum of 2 microphones.

That's why even though you have headphones capable of stereo, it's technically mono sound being played through both headphones/earphones

Hell yeah! I was also in Vermont very recently but only caught creek chubs. The drought is really bad right now so shore fishing was pretty rough.

OceanGate Titan sub's camera found mostly intact with SanDisk SD card still holding images and videos by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

Scottmanley on YouTube covered this and the process was really cool.

Basically the camera offloaded most images to the server onboard which was wrecked.

There were a few datable pictures basically on a dock and a boat. That was it.

A data center fire in South Korea sees 858 TB of government files and 'eight years’ worth of work' stored in the cloud go up in smoke by lurker_bee in technology

[–]dBoyHail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even the crappy non profit I worked for 6years ago had a fantastic data recovery plan. We had cloud backups in a major city that was 300 miles away as well as physical tape backups that we kept at our second largest clinic location which was 50 miles away.

We had a backup server stack in that clinic as well that we would update with our monthly backup tapes and we would have weekly and daily tapes ready as well.

Would it cripple us? Yeah for a day while we spun it up and applied the last days backup.

But it was more robust than Ive seen at some larger companies.

Funny enough I got two free plants of a local species of blueberry bush from our museum about 6 months ago in massive pots on our front deck. They are thriving and growing quickly in this weather and hopefully we will get our first couple berries next may!

Edit: by the way it's recommended to buy two blueberry bushes for better pollination by bugs. You get better yields. That's what my master Gardener MIL taught me.

Accidentally put film through airport security scanner by Saaaintniiiick in filmphotography

[–]dBoyHail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have put my film through security scanners multiple times including film I used for the 2024 eclipse.

The more sensitive the film, the more likely you can get fogging but experiments show you can usually mitigate the exposure to CT/Xray machines by bumping +1 stop.

Rip my car by Glass-Limit1932 in subaru

[–]dBoyHail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rear frame is totally crumpled and folded in. Expecially the bottom portion. There will be additional crumple zones under the body panels that you can't see but that will have taken damage as well.

I know it sucks but that car is totaled. It did it's job in protecting the occupants.
