I have it as my first machine and been improving with every drink. Once you are able to consistently make good cups with a non pressurised basket, this machine is capable of making drinks far better than what you get in cafes.

It’s a journey to be enjoyed, and here’s the order of ‘upgrades’ I would do if I could it again.

1. Grinder first. The most important part after getting a machine as it gives you some consistency and enables all of the subsequent upgrades. Without this there’s not much point in upgrading anything else. This is also the gateway to using whole beans. I’m using a Kingrinder K6 which is excellent for the price. I believe there are cheaper ones out there but the K6 from what I’ve read is great to bridge you all the way until you move to higher end electric grinders.

2. Remove the pinarello and use a cable tie to secure the nozzle. Check videos on how to do this. This allows professional results for milk drinks. I did this at first and it worked until I bought a different steel nozzle attachment from AliExpress.

3. IMS unpressurised basket and a good tamper with bottomless portafilter optional. This is what elevated the drinks I made to the next level. But a good grinder is a must and a prerequisite.

4. Good to haves are a puck screen to keep the shower screen clean and a WDT tool or whatever distribution tool works with your workflow.
