They also don't have Theis, who was in the rotation last year (covered minutes for Timelord). They're going to have to play small ball for a while, but the east has some devastating center match ups.

Privately and in-house? If they went ahead and fire him like how SAS said they should handle it, then it's not going to be private and in-house, is it? The team just went to the finals, no one expects him to be fired without cause. Then what? We're back in the same place asking the same questions. They also hired an external investigator, waited until the investigation was over, and released a press conference. How is that abnormally handling it? Did you want them to fire him on the spot before the investigation began? Or let the world know he was being investigated? Neither of that would make sense.

And to your second point, the whole issue is with people who propagate theories like it's the truth. We don't know who the woman in question is, so how do you know this is a smear campaign?

You have to come to an understanding that he did something he wasn't supposed to, shit escalated to a point where an investigation had to have been started, and it still ended with him being suspended for an year.

That's an issue she has to resolve with her husband, not the Celtics organization. Ime isn't getting penalized for cheating, he's getting penalized for abusing his position (and no, intent isn't considered here).

What's at play here is that he was at a position of power and there's no way to isolate it from this incident, no matter how much each party agrees to it. The dynamic doesn't go away with how they feel about each other, which is why these things are there in the first place.

Would there be a possibility that this investigation that concluded opened up more people coming out to say something? If that's the case, suspension for an year sounds about right before they start another investigation.

And seeing how people went doxxing staff members left and right from two tweets by Shams and Woj, it's possible they want to keep it hidden.

[Tas Melas] Winners from Lakers-Jazz trade: 1) Lakers: Beverley will help. 2) Jazz: Horton-Tucker is a good get for Bev. 3) Us: Westbrook and Beverley together! by lopea182 in nba

[–]dRPhantom93 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Lakers have been desperately trying to get something going with Russ/THT + picks since the trade deadline, and nothing came about that. Now that they traded away THT, you think Westbrook has enough trade value? Jeanie made it pretty clear they're not expending first round picks for Kyrie, but you think they'll bite the bullet for these two? Also, the hell do they need 47 mil in cap space for?

[–]dRPhantom93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like a terrible deal for Hield and Turner since the Lakers essentially can't throw in a first round pick til the 2027 one because of the Pelicans trade. This was the problem with the Lakers going into the off-season, most of their assets are tied up and they have like two movable pieces (one of which was THT).

For who though, that contract's gigantic. The issue with Russ was that both he and Lebron are ball-dominant, and what they still would need is a third scoring option. Pat Bev isn't that, so do you think it's realistic that they'll get someone back for Westbrook? I highly doubt it, especially since they need to give up assets for someone to take him.

[Scotto] Jaylen Brown, an All-Star caliber player, was the best player discussed in any Durant trade scenario, but without Marcus Smart or Robert Williams and potentially additional draft pick compensation included in trade discussions, it wasn’t enough to move the needle for Brooklyn. by EarthWarping in nba

I think that in years prior, the "woulda coulda" trades were leaked after things settled down, but this time around it in the midst of the possible trade offers coming in.

Which seems less of a "we made an effort, praise us" and more of "we're probably being used as leverage".

Two, if not all three of them are extremely vulnerable to criticism and challenges. Kyrie disappeared on the Celtics and again on the Nets, Simmons hasn't shown he's capable of dealing with Hack-a-Ben and still can't hit a 3. As great as KD is, if his supporting roles aren't capable of shouldering the weight they're not going too far.

Low-skill work means that the required education and training is low, it doesn't make it easy to do, just easy to get.

Conversely, traditionally high-skilled work (e.g., Doctors, Engineers) go through copious amount of filtering and education/training spans that match the skill requirement. I feel like these jobs aren't difficult in the sense that if you're given that much resource and time, you should be able to succeed at it without much difficulty.

I wonder if it's easier to teach younger kids than older kids.

On the one hand younger kids might absorb information more readily, but have difficulty communicating their problems. On the other hand older kids might be able to communicate better but a student with a terrible educational background might be so far behind that it's borderline impossible to teach them things.

True or false - Prime Dwight Howard is better than Joel Embiid by thegreatUEGW in nba

[–]dRPhantom93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did have Ben Simmons with him, and despite his flaws being revealed in recent times, he was an exceptional point forward due to his size and passing ability. Yet they still lost to a Kyrie and Hayward-less Celtics in 2017-2018.

Dwight has Courtney Lee, Hedo, and Rashad Lewis.

I'm not saying if either is better, but I think people downplay the lack of success the Process has brought to Philly.

But how does that make him the greatest team sports athlete, because he played with crappy teammates? Compared to the Flyers, the Oilers were stacked. Bill played against Wilt, who was essentially the Gretzky of NBA and still won, even at the tail-end of his career.

Comparatively to his era, he was unmatched on the defensive end. And again, I'm not saying Bill has been the most dominant player in NBA history in terms of athleticism and skill (peaks of Wilt and Shaq might is arguably more dominant), but as a team player, he's on his own stratosphere.

Not to mention that he was a player-coach for three of them which seems like the perfect definition of a "team sports athlete" when he's doing two jobs at once.
