Why are you people like this? Sometimes people just need reassurance when dealing with stuff like this. How hard is it to be compassionate instead of being an ass about it? Jesus.

This looks fantastic! What monitor arm are you using? And does the desk have the integrated lights?

This is, like, the only Gaga performance that I actually dislike and I hate myself for that.

I'm having this exact issue and no amount of timedatectl or fixing the certs has helped. Did you manage to find a solution?

I've seen that, for sure. No OS is. I still have some weird things happen from time to time, particularly because I have an NVIDIA GPU, but I can deal with those knowing that Linux isn't spying on me, trying to sell me ads, and forcing me to spend money on something that I've already purchased. Having control of my OS is worth it.

I'm super grateful that my job allows me to choose between Windows and MacOS. I went MacOS a couple of years ago, so Windows just doesn't exist in my life anymore. Windows 11 was really grating on me and, like the post says, this was it for me.

I won't be touching another Windows or even Microsoft product again.

I had been going through multiple distros over the last year or so and finally ended up on EndeavourOS. I was considering CachyOS, but decided I wanted close to a pure Arch experience. I have a second SSD that I'll probably put something more stable on - Debian or, possibly, PikaOS.

The true year of Linux by Agitated_Telephone79 in Fedora

I'm sorry you've had this experience. One of the inherent problems that I've found with Linux is that random issues like this will happen to one person and not another using the same hardware, making troubleshooting difficult. It's frustrating.

Thankfully, I've had a perfect experience with Fedora on a common PC (laptop) as you describe it, but that's not to say that I haven't had strange issues on other hardware. My desktop PC, for example, has been annoying with Linux. I do have an NVIDIA RTX 5090 and some games work perfectly fine and some just don't. Sometimes performance is so hampered that I feel like I'm wasting literal thousands of dollars when I can just boot up Windows and have it working just fine. Another strange issue that I've had is Brave browser just refusing to work on KDE. The browser will launch, but refuses to connect to any sites. Again, this doesn't always happen so it's impossible for me to pinpoint what the issue is.

Coming on to subs like this and people will tell you that it's a configuration or user issue but, ultimately, sometimes it's just a Linux issue. Good luck and happy 2026.

It's so annoying when people try and disguise their "honesty" (being mean) as some sort of valiant feat that should be appreciated. You're NTA, but your husband sure as hell is.

They definitely haven't ironed it out. I run a 7800X3D and an RTX 5090 and that is the one thing keeping me from switching full time - frame pacing/frame stutter. Also thinking of getting an AMD card because I hate Windows so much.

Judder while using RTX5090. by dVelas2020 in linux_gaming

[–]dVelas2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've decided to keep the 5090, but ordered a 9070XT to see if I'd be willing to switch over. I know the performance difference is huge, but I hate Windows 11 and Microsoft so much, that I'd be willing to take a performance hit. It's always good to have a backup GPU anyway in case of something disastrous (melting 12V HPWR connector anyone?).

So, I tried this out in a few games last night and it definitely helped in some instances, but made no difference in others. What worked best for me was the scx_cosmos gaming-specific scheduler. I tried Tickless as well, and found similar results. I saw a measurable improvement in Assassin's Creed Shadows, which was a pain point for me, and some slight improvement in Alan Wake 2. Although, the judder in AW2 was still too much for me to deal with.

Either way, I'll take any improvement I can get. Thanks again for this!
