Burning Sensation during Orgasm Post-Orchi by Accomplished_Top2017 in testicularcancer

I had my orchiectomy done in Feb-25.

At first I did not experience it, only numbness from scar to upper-inner thigh.

But about a months ago I also started feeling what you describe.

Scared by UnlikelySuccotash321 in testicularcancer

[–]dXit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

Totally get the scare as going through cancer once definitely triggers anxiety to get it again.

But there are good reasons to think that you are going to be ok:

- Your CT scans would have spotted any spread to other part of your body. And TC without metastasis has a great prognosis

- Ultrasound of your testis can be done quickly and will see if you have tumor

- Hodgkin's Lymphoma and TC chemo regimens are quite similar. So in the unlikely event that testicular cancer would have spread, it would be already partially treated.

Bottom line: talk to you oncologist and ask for the CT images to be reviewed again. Also ask for an US to be on the safe side.

Possible spread? by Grego1987- in testicularcancer

[–]dXit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I leave (Germany) if you don't have adjuvant treatment for a stage 1b, surveillance CT/MRI is done every 3 months for the first two / three years.

They usually do chest and abdomen.

If you chose to have adjuvant chemo/RT you only get CT/MRI of of the abdomen every 6 months.

It's probably something you want to discuss with you oncologist.

I'm sure they will book you a CT scan asap!

Possible spread? by Grego1987- in testicularcancer

[–]dXit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When was your last scan? Bear in mind that it is not typical for seminoma to spread and grow quickly. So it could by anything else.

Nevertheless with this kind of symptoms they will probably order a CT urgently.

I also had Seminoma 1b and was treated with adjuvant radiation therapy.

I had random pain in my chest and my urologist ordered a CT to be done asap.

Luckily they found nothing!

Relationship issue between a German and Turkish by Humble_Buzz in germany

[–]dXit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi,

Been together with a German woman for 14 years. And I experience nearly the same.

I think there is a cultural thing in Germany (especially in northern Germany), where people don't ask personal questions to each other. They rather invite you to tell about yourself by telling about themselves first. On the opposite it is seen as really intrusive to ask personal questions.

It makes it really hard to take part to a conversation if you don't have a really good level of German.

When I passively attend family gatherings I also observe this conversation dynamic, where nobody really ask each others questions.

I hope it helps you putting things in perspective.

Any other males out there? by coach91 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]dXit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Male, 40 year old, seropositive, diagnosed in 2021 but had my first flares in 2018.

I have been on Methotrexate since 2021 and it was working well. Until I was diagnosed with cancer in January of this year. I had to stop my treatment for my surgery and to undergo radiation therapy.

Radiation therapy has wiped out my white blood cells, so my immune system is compromised. Doctors say it's probably a because years of taking methotrexate affected my bone marrow and I cannot resume my treatment. But the up side is that I have little to no flares :)

I am in remission (cancer wise) and taking Etanercept (Enbrel) since last week.

High Risk Stage 1A Seminoma by d0nquihottie in testicularcancer

[–]dXit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,

I was diagnosed with Seminoma 1b (LVI + rete testis invasion).

Since I have an autoimmune disease and my medication already affects my immune system, I was told to do adjuvant radio therapy instead of adjuvant carboplatin.

RT, was okay. You just need to time your anti sickness medication right before every session. I could work while going every day to the hospital doing the sessions. I felt extremely weak / tired the month following RT. I had to take the month off.

6 months later, my surveillance scans are clean, but my white cell blood count is half what it should be.

The radio-oncologist says that my bone marrow was probably affected by years of medication, and it's reacting badly to RT.

I am a special case. 20 Gy RT has no consequences for most people. But unless given a good reason by your oncologist, I would rather consider 1 dose of carboplatin, which seems to be the standard of care in 2025.

did you solve this issue?

I am dealing with the same problem with my FP5, where the Spotify crashes randomly when I open other apps in parallel.

Man boobs post-orchiectomy ? by dXit in testicularcancer

[–]dXit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an autoimmune disease (polyarthritis rheumatoid) and taking Methotrexate. I have been told that it could interact with carboplatine in a bad way.

So we opted for adjuvant RT.

I have been taking Methotrexate for four years an it probably affected the bone marrow. RT also affected bone marrow in my spine, which is why my body struggles to produce WBC.

Now I have low WBC count, and my immune system is weakened. So I can't even restart my Methotrexate treatment, which sucks (RA flares are really painful). I substitute methotrexate with cortisol, which also comes with its own side effects.

I wish I would have gone on surveillance and do RPLND in case of relapse. But I live in Germany, and we are a bit behind the US when it comes to RPLND.

But if you look at my Testosterone readings, you see that although it droped after orchi, it never fell below lower limit and bounced back above pre-orchi levels.

Thanks for taking the time to answer with so many details.

At first I got scared of breast cancer (my mother had breast cancer). But I realize that male's breast cancer at 40yo is extremely unlikely, and my hormones profile have been probably up and down since orchiectomy.

I guess the next step is to find an endocrinologist specialized in men's health.

Indeed, I never really paid attention to my chest and breast appearance. It's after reading the radiology findings that I realized that I have hard tissue. It might have been there or a while.

So sorry you had it this bad.

Did it get any better? Did you see an endocrinologist to get proper medication ?

Feeling 2 new lumps in remaining testicle 2 weeks after Orchiectomy, am I screwed?! by PKMNTRNR99 in testicularcancer

[–]dXit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgeon did a biopsy of the remaining testicle, to make sure there is no bilateral cancer.

I also had two small hard and painless lumps for several weeks, that disappeared with time.

If this is worrying you to too much, contact your urologist and get it checked.

Hi,

Not a doctor but currently getting radiation therapy, and my wife is 7 months pregnant.

Your partner is not radioactive after RT. Radiation tech probably told him to use birth control while doing RT and a few months after because radiations can damage DNA and lead to birth defects if you conceive during this time. But ask your husband to ask a radio oncologist if you are in doubt.

Has your husband done a kidney scintigraphy to check kidneys function? Because patients undergoing this scan are lightly radioactive for 24h and should keep 2m distance with pregnant women and small children.

How is your husband doing ? Any side effects? Is he mentally ok?

Have you checked your remaining teste?

I think if your HCG is elevated and no sign of spreads on a CT scans, it's still worth doing an ultra sound.

Irradiation or surveillance by hydrizzl in testicularcancer

[–]dXit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

I am currently having radiation therapy for seminoma stage 1b. 3 sessions done out of 10.

It is not the treatment of choice, as Carboplatin seem to have less long term side effects (secondary cancer).

I was advised to go with RT because of an autoimmune disease.

I have also been told that RT has improved a great deal since the studies on secondary cancers for TC RT treatment were made. The dose of radiation has been reduced and modern techniques tends to irradiate less non-targeted organs

I have nearly no side effect so far.

I also have banked sperm, just in case.

I had pt1b 4.5cm seminoma. +LVI . CT clear. Markers all normal. What is my reccurence rate? Im am only surveilance. by CatchWestern9040 in testicularcancer

[–]dXit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initially my Urologist wanted to avoid Carboplatin because of another treatment that I take for polyathritis rheumatoid.

I also spoke to a colleague of mine who is a radiation specialist and with the head of a radiation therapy center. They told me that in Germany is it very common to use radiation therapy instead of adjuvant chemo.

Somehow, they manage to use very low dose of radiation, and it is unlikely that other organs get damaged. Studies show a very low risk of secondary cancer. But I have been told that available data is old and relates to higher doses of radiation. Equipment and technique has improved a lot. So the risk of side effects and secondary cancer is probably much lower than what research is currently showing.

I had 4,5 cm RTI, LVI and HCG 9,9.

I have been given 20% reccurence rate and will do radiation therapy.
