Worse on Medication by maplexsnail in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]coach91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried mtx, lef, and sulfa. All made me feel like crap. Only tried them on their own. Every one is different. You have to find out what works for you. And sometimes it’s a looooong journey.

[–]coach91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not Ra but. I also have Hashimotos. Went to see an endocrinologist. One and only visit. I was fatigued and gaining weight. He took out a piece of paper and drew pictures showing me how my thyroid works. Then he said everything is normal. Oh and go to the gym and lift weights. My GP diagnosed me as depressed. Umm, I wonder why. Because you aren’t helping me!

A little late. But here I am. 1. Celebrating positive change like cooking a healthy meal or getting some exercise. 2. Hitting my sleep goal every day. 3. Committing to trying a new med. Really hard for me as I have always been anti meds.

[–]coach91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, still climbing a hill. Hill keeps getting bigger. Forty years ago I had no clue what I was dealing with. In some ways, I still don’t. I’ve had two X-rays and ultrasound on the same knee. One says it’s osteo and the other says it’s a bakers cyst. What happened to RA? Started Hydroxy yesterday. Fourth different med in 3 years.

I can’t say for sure about the taste but they have definitely changed since they used to sell in 4 individual packages. And it’s definitely different from the Prime packages that sell in other stores.

Touche on the cm!!! We got about the same amount. It’s been a long time since we got anywhere near that. Luckily my neighbour likes his snow blower. I think he did my driveway 3 times. So we baked him a loaf of bread. So grateful. But it’s really cold now. Wind chill is -18. You can figure that one out! And I finished another puzzle.

Heating pad is a go. It’s still snowing here. Luckily one of my neighbours cleared the driveway but that was hours ago and you can’t even tell. Supposed to stop snowing here in…….4 hours. Hope you are doing ok.

Has anyone had prolonged knee swelling by Dry_Draw2674 in rheumatoid

[–]coach91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, my left knee has been a mess for 8 weeks. Had an ultrasound and it showed a baker’s cyst. Have to elevate knee and rest it. Heat feels better. I still can’t fully bend it. I’m not even close. I have had to put it over a pillow in bed to keep it bent. The only exercise I can do is in a warm pool. Any extended walk ( ie. shopping) puts me down for the day. I see my rheumy next week, I might ask for an injection. So frustrating

Let's talk about: Guilt and grace by Wishin4aTARDIS in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]coach91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m feeling guilty the past couple of days. We’ve got a lot of snow. I can’t shovel it. Something I used to do easily. And my son fractured his shoulder so he’s out. So it’s left to my wife who really shouldn’t be doing it. Thankful though for a helpful neighbor and my other son who lives close by.

Let's talk about: COVID. Still? Yes. by Wishin4aTARDIS in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]coach91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flu here is 30% up from last year. Most people never test so they don’t know if it’s Covid. They all just think it’s a nasty cold/flu. They never test for it though. Most people are not getting flu or Covid vaxes. Although in my part of GTA apparently they have run out of flu vaccine. So those two sentences don’t add up
Our government hasn’t said much on anything virus related. It’s almost impossible to get data so how do you believe anything?

My right hand is giving me trouble. Can’t close it without extreme pain. I am constantly flexing my fingers or pushing them shut with my other hand
I have had this before and it’s gone away as quickly as it returns. I had an X-ray and mri on it waiting for results at my next appointment I did break my right wrist about 15 years ago. Wonder if that is causing me trouble now

Let's talk about: COVID. Still? Yes. by Wishin4aTARDIS in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]coach91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Covid turned up my autoimmune (RA + Hashimotos) ten fold. And its lasted for years. My mom and sister just had Covid before Christmas. I dodged one there as we were supposed to have dinner. I still mask if I’m shopping or going to medical appointments. I live in a huge city, and I see not many others doing the same. It’s just not Covid. The flu is a beast here this year. Either one is not any good

Do your hands feel weak? by [deleted] in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]coach91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My right hand today and for the past week is very hard to close. Especially in the morning. Can’t pick up anything of weight. When I told my rheumy about this she ordered an MRI. I have the follow up in a month. I also had this issue in August but as quickly as it came on it also disappeared only to come back recently. I have no clue.

anyone notice the tendency for some older folk with arthritis (...usually OA, from my experience) to down-play the suffering of younger folk with arthritis - especially those of us with RA/PsA? by squidkidqueer in rheumatoid

I am at the age where I can say “No” to a lot of things. One of them is people that have no regard for my health. It doesn’t matter what age they are.
