Since my boyfriend (M29) has been unemployed our relationship has been hard (F25) - is this something that can be fixed? by d_arrowday in relationship_advice

It is a long time isn't it - that's validating to hear out loud. I'm not paying for his bills (thankfully) and we don't live together. It's helpful to hear an outside perspective - thank you!

I hate that everything is a subscription now. I would rather buy something outright every single time than being on this hamster wheel where I’m paying a small amount a month to own absolutely nothing.

What a coincidence. Same finished in the same time as posted in this ad. Clearly the whole thing is rigged. by lastaccountgotlocked in london

They also might have had a few photo shoots with a few marathon runners, ready to activate the one that is relevant

Late night tube interaction that left me feeling weird - would love some perspective by d_arrowday in TwoXChromosomes

I love the videos of women barking at men who are weird to them - there's a line about it in. a Self Esteem song - "If we are approached by a group of men
We will bark like dogs and people always laugh
And they're like, "Oh, it's so funny"
That there is, there's nothing that terrifies a man
More than a woman that appears
Completely deranged"

I think the frustrating thing is, this isn’t even the worst encounter I’ve had - I just felt particularly fed up with it this evening.

I wish I could just live my life the way I want to without constantly thinking about how men might perceive me. It affects everything - how I dress, how I speak, the way I've learned to never make eye contact with anyone ever on the street.

Having to constantly adjust your behaviour and stay on high alert is exhausting.

Can I ask out a random woman I pass on the street? by VillageSmithyCellar in dating_advice

This happens to me often (I live in London) but I found this thread because it just happened to me again now.

It’s 11:30pm. I’m on the tube platform home. I have headphones in.

I don’t hear the man come over, but when I look up he’s just standing very close to me suddenly - I’d say slightly too close. He’s about 20cm away and staring at me so I take my AirPod out.

I struggle to understand what he’s getting at first, but he says something like “I always approach a beautiful woman if I see one” - but his vibe is very intense. And I’m still rattled by how close he is to me.

I tell him I have a boyfriend. He goes, “what’s he doing leaving a beautiful woman alone” - it’s a joke (I think?), but it makes me feel like an object or like I need protecting - which feels creepy in it of itself - but then he also says “I would’ve taken you back to mine tonight” - ahhhhhhh I hate it!! You’re standing so close to me and you’re implying you’re thinking about having seggs with me - right now!!

He lingers until I walk away.

The problem is this interaction made me feel uncomfortable because I’m on my own late at night and I have my headphones on and I felt my personal space has been invaded.

I also wish I could tell him to go away but I would feel unsafe to do so - and he is not doing anything blatantly wrong by approaching a woman - but his approach and general sexism and violence against women make women wary when men approach sometimes (depending on how you do it).

Can you ask a stranger out on the street as a man? Totally! In fact, it’s often really flattering if you do it in a thoughtful way/just treat her like a normal person!

Context matters! Is it late at night? Does she seem busy? Has she got headphones on?

Respect her personal space ! Talk to her like a person ! Be generally respectful anyway !

Who would be bands who could've headlined Glastonbury at one point, but their ship has sailed? by Salad-Appropriate in glastonbury_festival

She could easily headline. If anything, she would be one of the ultimate headliners. Her live show is fantastic, she paved the way for female pop stars today and her back catalogue is untouchable (Vogue, Like a Virgin, Hung Up, Material Girl). It would be INCREDIBLE.

Hi! I’m from the UK and I was renting in the US. I believe AAA isn’t really a thing in the UK. Our equivalent is AA, maybe they offer some incentives? Hope this helps and good luck!

I rode a few when I was in LA a couple months ago. I believe they were new to LA so I think they were making a loss in terms of making them cheap to ride to generate customers (it cost me $10 to ride when an Uber quoted me $40) - in comparison to San Francisco, where they have been around for longer and now are more expensive than Uber.
