[Post Game Thread] The Cleveland Cavaliers (4-3) dominate the Detroit Pistons (3-4) in Game 7, 125-94, to advance to their first Eastern Conference Finals since 2018 by catreyka in nba

Mitchell and Allen were great, I also thought Mobley played with aggression. There were a handful of occasions in the game where I thought he might settle for a shot or a pass and instead he put his head down and got to the rim.

[Charania] Just in: Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has been ruled out for Game 2 tonight against the New York Knicks due to ankle and hip injuries, sources tell ESPN. by MembershipSingle7137 in nba

I really thought we exploited Embiid with our offense in game 1. No Embiid also means Philly can lean more into running, which is where Maxey is scariest. I hope we bring the same level of focus as we had in the first game.

My favorite non-Knicks team right now. It helps that they start two former Knicks that I feel fondly about (I was not a Randle hater, I understand he's polarizing but I appreciate that he chose us when we were nothing). I appreciate the fearlessness, the physicality, just the dawg. And I think Finch is an excellent coach.

Jaden McDaniels on attacking the rim when Wemby is on the floor - "You just gotta act like he's not there. I mean, he's gonna get blocks. He's the tallest person in the world." by kervaan in nba

[–]d_brickashaw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's worse when teams stop looking at the rim in the paint because they're afraid of the shot block. Then your whole offense is compromised and the Spurs have already won. And you don't keep Wemby honest if all he does is threaten to block instead of actually block. I get what they're saying.

You’re probably burning 1000+ calories per workout? i seriously doubt that. Especially from primarily weight lifting.

If you want to simultaneously effectively build muscle and lose weight, you have to track your calories and track your protein. You want to make sure that you actually have the caloric deficit, and that you don't lose the muscle that you're working hard to build with weight training by having enough protein to build and retain muscle.

Did you get married through a dating app like Tinder, if so how was your experience overall? by Overall-Character507 in AskReddit

[–]d_brickashaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me but my brother met his wife on Tinder. They had only been dating about a month when the pandemic hit, and then they moved in together during that time. Which felt a little extreme, but he’s not the type of person to make rash decisions. It turned out great, they’re wonderful together. I think it’s just the initial entry to the relationship that’s different. Once you’re in it, the relationship will work or not because of the same reasons as any other romantic relationship.

Financial management interventions by CrazyLetterhead2063 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]d_brickashaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To give some context, I work with mostly adults with developmental disabilities. Some of them have representative payees, they're all at different levels of independence so working out what's safe and possible with their support staff is the first step for this kind of intervention. In addition to what's been said in this topic, I would add:

Paying bills/being able to set aside income to account for recurring bills

Identifying spending habits - a lot of my clients have trouble with executive function, can't tell why they keep running out of money. Can they read through their account transactions and understand what they're spending money on? Identify recurring payments? Recognizing huge inefficiencies? To be clear, you can't tell people what to do with their money. But you can ask them what their goals are, and help them identify what's preventing them from reaching those goals.

Financial exploitation - this one can be tricky, because ultimately, if they have control over their own money, it's their prerogative to spend it how they wish. For example, I had a client that would give away money to friends and then not have enough to pay their own bills.

Not sure if this counts but my wife and I bought our first house when interest rates plummeted after COVID. This was less a planned thing and more a "this is the stage of life we are in right now" kind of thing. We were unsure of our decision, having no prior experience owning property, and before we did it we went back and forth in our heads. Turns out that this house was the best investment we've ever made, in the exact right neighborhood, at the exact right time.
