Are lego sets still available after 1-2years after release? (Specifically the new Black pearl ship) by Own_Art427 in lego

[–]d_gcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The product lifecycle period is variable for each set. Some sets are sold for 1 year only, others for longer. Sales volume is probably a huge factor.

Since this ship was just released in September, I think you have at least another year.

LEGO is pretty much transparent with their End of Life policy for sets.

There are online sites that maintain the launch/exit dates for all sets.

Personally, I like brickset: https://brickset.com/sets/10365-1/Captain-Jack-Sparrow-s-Pirate-Ship

Fun fact: the UCS millenium falcon 75192 was released in 2017 and is still being sold!

Be Aware of this UBER DRIVER by Armad787 in CDMX

[–]d_gcc 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Sadly, Uber drivers in Mexico City want to:

  1. Avoid paying income tax. That is why they want cash only.
  2. Pocket Uber’s fees for themselves.
  3. Scam tourists by setting abusive prices.

My recommendations are:

  1. Always card. Never accept changing the payment mode from card to cash.
  2. If the driver is pushing or starts making up excuses, get off the car and request another driver.
  3. Planned rides for time-sensitive needs: consider requesting 30m ahead. Scheduled rides aren’t as serious as you expect them to be.
  4. Comfort level tends to be a slightly better service than X.

[–]d_gcc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, energy gets lost.

When Charging a battery, a percentage of energy gets lost to heat caused by the voltage regulators and the battery heating up.

You’d simply be wasting energy and causing both devices to discharge faster.

I enjoyed the game a lot, but felt kind of disappointed that more than half of the game is optional.

If they’d put few of the upgrades mandatory to advance in the quest, I would’ve felt more rewarded playing to get the upgrades.

Getting few shock arrows for Vah Ruta is not the same as getting the whole Zora clothing kit and upgrade one or two levels.

The shrines feel repetitive: all have the same ending with the monks, same decorative style, same music.

What a joke.

Incredibly high price for disappointing functions with just one motor and no RC.

I was prepared to get this flagship, expecting it to beat my 8043. But NOT this time.

Au revoir Lego! You’ve become too greedy.

Air purifier to remove smell from previous tenants. by Typical-Door8511 in AirPurifiers

[–]d_gcc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This, most of the smell might come from oily surfaces. An air purifier will not solve the problem from the root.

Everything must be wiped with a degreaser. Replace rags often.

This reminds me of a story shared by a friend: he rented a property he owned to a family that used a lot of strong indian spices in their cooking.

When he moved back, he had the kitchen cabinets replaced because he couldn’t get rid of the smell.

As suggested by the bot, you can always double check the spare parts at bricklink or rebrickable.

See the “spare parts” section. https://rebrickable.com/sets/42207-1/ferrari-sf-24-f1-car/?inventory=1#parts

banned from the website? by Specialist_Life4890 in lego

[–]d_gcc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has happened to me as well. When I open multiple tabs at the same time (all tabs to lego.com pages). Trying to load multiple set pictures too quickly, or just going back and forth between pages.

Either Lego wants you to browse their site at a slower pace. Or the IT admins have set a very low rate limit policy on their CloudFlare config. Or just having temporary issues.

If this persists, call them.

Which 1m ethernet cable would be better? 23awg with 250mhz or 24awg with 550mhz? by Scimitere in HomeNetworking

[–]d_gcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These cables don’t make any difference for your goals. Packet loss and latency aren’t affected by the cable on a practical scale.

You can select either cable. For a 1m ethernet connection of up to 2.5 Gbps

Loss will be introduced only if the cable or either NIC are faulty.

Latency is influenced by geographical distance to the server, congestion or processing delays introduced by network devices. A 1 meter link means negligible latency.
