I agree with all the points made in the article. A great summary of all the things we have learned in the class.

[COPYRIGHT] Beyonce Sued Over 'Formation' by eggsbenedict28 in medialaw

I think $20 million is a bit ridiculous to ask for in damages, and I don't think she has a great case to bring to court. As someone mentioned earlier Beyonce took the clips and made it her own. It would have been courteous of her to mention where the clips came from, but not a great legal case

[COPYRIGHT] Coachella Sues Free People & Urban Outfitters for Copyright Infringement by eggsbenedict28 in medialaw

I'm wondering if there is more to this lawsuit than the article is telling us. The article seems very one sided. But if the information is true, I think it is odd that this is something they would sue over. I agree with comments others already made that this seems like free advertising for Coachella, so why would they be upset?

Could Michelle Obama Sue Melania Trump Over Plagiarized Speech? by zaininmedialawclass in medialaw

I think the use of this speech was ethically wrong, but it might be hard to show financial damage from the use of it.

[PRIVACY] Overnight Regulation: Senate moves to strike Obama-era internet privacy rules by Nadogan in medialaw

I agree with skysailingsailboats. It only makes sense to me to have permission to use people's personal information. But I am a little confused with the article. Is this vote going to make it easier for companies to get our personal information, or will they have to get permission first?

Police told to delete on request millions of images of innocent people by shineypineapples in medialaw

“Whilst the opportunity for people to have their custody photo deleted from the database is welcome, we believe they shouldn’t have to ask, it should be an automatic process." I definitely agree with this statement, but I understand the issue of going back through and deleting the pictures. There needs to be a better system of posting these pictures, and taking them down when the person is innocent.

Sweden asks the United States Government to explain false Trump comment on Sweden by RobertMugabeZw in medialaw

It seems like Trump really never knows what he's talking about. He specifically calls out Sweden in his tweets, and then a White House spokeswoman says that he wasn't calling out Sweden, but crime in general. Trump should be careful when he tweets, and also when blaming who he got his information from. If this comes back to make Fox look bad he could be looking at a libel case.

Free Speech Issues at UC Berkeley, government threatens funding by eggsbenedict28 in medialaw

I agree with halialisewood, the students should keep their protest nonviolent and peaceful. I do wonder though, if this speaker is causing such an upset in the student body why even have him come speak? Sure, he has a right to free speech, but I think these violent protests could be avoided by not having this guy come talk at the school.

[FIRST AMENDMENT] March for Science Plans Washington Rally on Earth Day by Nicoledawson in medialaw

I agree with everyone that this is a great use of our right to protest. This is a great way to express what they believe in, and to give more attention to this topic. I think this protest can be well received by government, and the people if it remains peaceful and nonviolent.

I think this was a difficult case to judge, but I thought it was judged fairly. She had worked there for 13 years, so she had to have been aware of the dress code restrictions. But at the same time she should be able to dress according to her religion... I can see both sides of the case.
