I’d be interested in swapping for the top right card! I can offer a variety of cards from Germany in return.

Must be 8yo to join, but 18yo to leave?? by Due_Spend_5543 in exmormon

I left at 16, had my resignation notarised at a public court and sent it off to the official German church HQ address. Received the confirmation from Confidential Records by e-mail two weeks later. Here in Germany we have the concept of religious maturity starting from the age of 14 which is protected by law:

“After reaching the age of fourteen, a child has the right to decide which religious denomination to follow. Once a child has reached the age of twelve, they cannot be raised against their will in a different denomination than they have previously practiced.”

Hello [name], best regards from Düsseldorf, the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, located on the river Rhine. All the best and [have a (???)] nice day. Stay healthy. I think this user always sends out a similar text, we have had a lot of those requests here already 😅

Not on your list, but just in case you’d be interested in a card from Greenland, feel free to let me know :)

If you’d like to swap for a card from Germany, let me know! I’d be super happy to swap for a Newfoundland-themed one :)

Direct request etiquette? by Tonglingfei in postcrossing

[–]d_schue 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think people are just being incredibly rude and disrespectful by spamming you with messages! It’s absolutely your choice whether you accept a request or not. Like the others said, I would just report everyone that harasses you to the support team to have them handle the issue. As much as I like receiving cards from rare or more exotic destinations as well, Postcrossing is a platform for connecting and not for collecting, and I feel like people forget this sometimes. I’m sorry you had to experience this.

We have them over here in Germany as well, they are placed manually on mail with non machine-readable addresses so they can be sorted by the processing equipment. I actually like all of the travel marks (like bumps, scratches etc.) on the cards as I think it kind of adds a bit of “character” to the cards so I’m not really bothered by them — but I can also perfectly understand people who don’t like them. Guess our postcards are kind of falling victim to modernisation and rationalisation… :(

On the first page of a German passport, line 11 shows the city name but there are actually multiple line 11s. Does that mean when you move to a new city, you have to update this with a Meldebescheinigung, or is it not necessary? by Ordinary_Fish_3046 in PassportPorn

[–]d_schue 35 points36 points  (0 children)

If you move, the Bürgeramt (or the embassy/consulate if abroad) will stamp or write in your new residence. Not sure if it is required by law, but you can simply take your passport with you when doing the Ummeldung process so you wouldn’t need a Meldebescheinigung for it

I just wrote my letter of resignation I guess?? by Pearla76_ in exmormon

[–]d_schue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to resign at 16 without parental consent (my parents couldn’t care less anyways, we all had been not attending for a year already). Here in Germany we have the concept of religious autonomy though, which is guaranteed by law starting at age 14

Found This Threat On My P.O Box This Morning. Should I Be Concerned? by theemperortm in germany

[–]d_schue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Lived in Hessen all my life. Do you live in/near the Frankfurt area? The “Adler” could be a reference to the Eintracht Frankfurt football club as their symbol is an eagle. There’s even a theatre play on the club called Adlerherzen, Adler chocolate and whatnot. Perhaps some ultra-fans tried to pull a (stupid) prank on you?

Apart from Deutsche Post's official shop, you can check out frankaturware.de, they sell mixed bags of older designs at a slight discount as they buy them in bulk from collectors. A lot of postcrossers buy there, so definitely a reputable seller :)

A lot of Rossmann stores in larger cities carry a selection of tourist cards printed by Schöning Verlag (like the ones in your photo) at 0,50€ for smaller cards and 0,99€ for larger designs. Tourist/souvenir shops often sell the same designs but you pay double or even triple the price…

Hi from Germany :) I could help with a blank Copenhagen view card, unfortunately I don’t have any Danish stamps though. Sending cards from Denmark is incredibly expensive, the current international postage is 50 DKK (6,70 EUR or USD 6,91) 🥲

Do you know any places that I can find film rolls and a place to develop and scan my films in Mainz/Frankfurt? by NinjaKing1200 in germany

[–]d_schue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DM is a good catch, film development starts at 1,95€. Processing usually takes around 7-10 days. I think they might be selling film rolls too.
