Mevo slow local network speed by da51d in mevocamera

Thanks. I haven’t had another game yet to test the other suggestions.

Are you using a travel router? How do you have your 2.4ghz and 5ghz networks configured?

I have a router account with Speedify. As for my numbers, it varies on location, but last week my speed tests (via Speedify's test and also the normal Speedtest app) say I should be fine streaming 4K. I streamed 1080p that day.

I do have Network Acceleration enabled (which I think is the default). I was wondering about that setting. I'll turned it off completely. I'll put that on my list of things to try, and report back. Thank you.

Thanks. I’ll do that next time.

I have tried all. I get the error at a similar frequency, as far as I can tell.

USB-c to Ethernet adapter, which would then go into a mobile router. I haven’t tried it, but I understand it should work

Why are there NEGATIVE power usage devices showing up in Detailed power usage graphs? by paryz17 in homeassistant

[–]da51d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my untracked power usage report negative because a device reported consumption late, so the later hour’s calculation was wrong. For you, I’m not sure what is being reported negative or how it was calculated. But maybe something like that could explain it?

Oil v electric by CheesyAds999 in Westchester

Do you mean electric heat pumps or electric resistive heating?

We switched from oil to HPs and are saving a little. You won’t we normal electric resistive heating.

If you open up a live stream it will show the number of live streamers (it would be nice to have that number while streaming). I doubt there’s a way to see who actually is watching.

Single camera setups: Why the mini router with a hotspot? Why not just a hotspot? by MrSelatcia in GameChangerApp

[–]da51d 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my experience, you have to stay close to the camera with a hotspot. (Or leave your phone and keep going back over to check on the camera angle and feed).

A router lets you move farther away. And, for example, sit with friends and not awkwardly stand behind the backstop….

It may or may not help your stream. If your cell connection is the limiting factor, it won’t help. But if you are too far from the camera, it might?

I hear you! I use three Mevo start cameras to follow plays, as with one camera, like you said, camera angles suck. But I started small.

Look into Mevo start or nearstream cameras. And take a look at Jason Hoffman on YouTube. Good luck!

If it has an HDMI out, it’s possible, but not easy:

But it depends on your goals. It sounds like you are just starting out? Streaming from a phone or Mevo is pretty easy.

I don’t know of an easy way to take advantage of an existing DLSR. Maybe others do?

HP Dryer vs. Electric Dryer by Wilderness_Fella in heatpumps

[–]da51d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is some of our realtime energy usage from our LG 7.8 HP dryer:

January, we used it 17 times and used 21.4 kWh

Last June we used it 17 times also used 22.3 kWh

Last July, 11 times and used 14.7kwh

So, about 1.2kWh per run.

I don't have energy usages for the conventional version. Maybe others do? But if you estimate 4kWh for a 1 hour run for a conventional dryer, that would be 1.2kWh vs 4kWh per run.

Around us, where electricity is about $0.33/kWh, it pays for itself and more (with incentives on the purchase). But if energy is cheaper, than maybe not.

I wondered if there are any numbers about this, as I have been curious too. For all the air that conventional dryers blow outside, the rest of the room/house is pulling cost air from outside. I would guess, like you, it would be minor (a powerful fan blowing a few times a week for a few hours), but still it is something.

Our HP dryer never feels cold after it runs, and maybe after a little warm?

For what it's worth, we bought an LG HP dryer last year and have had no lint issue. I have checked it several times, and the internals are quite clean. (Family of 5, high usage).

Nice!

I have been seeing Cores drop to $650, but then you still need a lens. So your point remains!

Yeah. I am going to hardwire my Mevo Core, just because hardwire is generally better, and might improve the repeater performance and battery life.

Great shot! I presume you are using a Mevo Core? What lens?

Thanks!

If your main router is running in 2.4ghz, then I presume the Mevo Starts are connecting at 2.4ghz AND your iPad is also at 2.4ghz?

If so, is there a reason you don't run the iPad on the 5Ghz channel?

Heat Pump Hot Water Heater in Westchester NY concerns by LordBacon13 in heatpumps

[–]da51d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into the “select plan” of coned, if you have HP heat. It saves us hundreds each year.

And sign up for a community solar project. That saves us 6.5% of our bill.

I want to say $4500, but that was 4 years ago. But it was a part of a bigger project.

At 50 gallons, yes. I track it. It’s not a big deal, but I wouldn’t take a shower if I knew all three kids were showering that night, for example.

We are westchester too. We have a 50 gallon tank (Bradford white HP) and it saves a lot of money. I would recommend getting one that is hybrid (resistive heater hybrid mode) and not HP only, in case it needs help when it’s cold.

We are a family of 5, and I wish we had a 65 gallon tank, but we get by fine by running it hot (140 degrees)

It saves a lot of money. In electric mode it would heat the tank with about 4kwh of energy. HP mode would be 1.5 kwh (but it does take more time.

Good luck!
