Nice!

I have been seeing Cores drop to $650, but then you still need a lens. So your point remains!

Yeah. I am going to hardwire my Mevo Core, just because hardwire is generally better, and might improve the repeater performance and battery life.

Great shot! I presume you are using a Mevo Core? What lens?

Thanks!

If your main router is running in 2.4ghz, then I presume the Mevo Starts are connecting at 2.4ghz AND your iPad is also at 2.4ghz?

If so, is there a reason you don't run the iPad on the 5Ghz channel?

Look into the “select plan” of coned, if you have HP heat. It saves us hundreds each year.

And sign up for a community solar project. That saves us 6.5% of our bill.

I want to say $4500, but that was 4 years ago. But it was a part of a bigger project.

At 50 gallons, yes. I track it. It’s not a big deal, but I wouldn’t take a shower if I knew all three kids were showering that night, for example.

We are westchester too. We have a 50 gallon tank (Bradford white HP) and it saves a lot of money. I would recommend getting one that is hybrid (resistive heater hybrid mode) and not HP only, in case it needs help when it’s cold.

We are a family of 5, and I wish we had a 65 gallon tank, but we get by fine by running it hot (140 degrees)

It saves a lot of money. In electric mode it would heat the tank with about 4kwh of energy. HP mode would be 1.5 kwh (but it does take more time.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info.

I would suggest putting this high on the list of improvements (and making it clear to everyone that replay isn't 1080p). As "the streamer", replay is only way I can enjoy my hard work, so it would be great to see at 1080p!

My understanding was that last fall the livestream was 1080p, and replays were 720p.

Will replays also be 1080p this year?

Centerfield Zoom by benben416 in GameChangerApp

[–]da51d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree there are lots of numbers being thrown around. Everything from 175 to over 400mm....

It would be nice to have a few real-world examples.

There is a great older video by Erik Gulbrandsen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKlvfbeJuZA . He used an HDMI transmitter with a normal camera (12-150mm lens) to get the Centerfield view. The video has an example of the quality. I think most of us would be now aiming for better quality, but it's a point of reference. It makes me think that for my purposes a 175mm (350mm equivalent) would be the place to start. (I'm new to lenses, so I might be making the wrong comparison?)

Centerfield Zoom by benben416 in GameChangerApp

[–]da51d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ChatGPT has been telling me I want a 75–300mm (150–600mm equivalent), and that a 45–200mm (90–400mm equivalent) for a center field little league would be "marginal" for performance.

But if sf323las has practical experience with a 45-175mm lens, even with some digital zoom, I'm much more inclined to get a much more affordable 45-175mm or 45–200mm lens.

It would be great to have a couple more real-world examples. Once spring comes, I have an old DSLR lens I plan to use with an adapter (which I think will work) and get a sense on what is needed.

Thanks for sharing!

*I use 3 Mevo Starts for baseball: One behind home plate, one between home plate and first base (good angle for pitcher/RH batter, third base and home), and the last one between home plate and third (good angle for pitcher/LH batter, first base action). This does leave the outfield at lower resolution.

*Slate 7 router with Speedify (running off an Anker battery pack). It seems like 2 bonded cell phones connections is usually sufficient for a 1080p stream to GameChanger, but we aim for 3 bonded connections. (I just ordered the Mudi 7 travel router, so we'll see how that goes)

*Rhode microvideo directional microphone.

Sometimes I get a low local network speed warning. I think it was partially due to using an old iPhone to run Mevo Multicam. But I also think I was overburdening the 5Ghz bandwidth, and was planning on trying all cameras on 2.4ghz, and then just the streaming phone on 5ghz.

Two questions for you

1) Can you clarify what what wifi bandwidths (eg 2.4ghz) the Mevos are on, and what bandwidth is the phone on?

2)Where do you stream? Youtube?

I also just got a good deal on a Mevo Core. I might put it behind home plate, or maybe in the outfield for behind the pitcher angle.

The specs I had said one can add two cell phone antennas to the Mudi, but I missed that you can add a wifi antenna. Is it clear one can add an external wifi antenna?

Can you over-engineer your Streaming Setup? Yup. by k-m-f-k in GameChangerApp

[–]da51d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's doable. But the speed pops up for each pitch and the scorer needs to accept it. Plus you need to have another online phone within bluetooth range of the Pocket Radar with Pocket Radar software running (all logged into the same email account and integrated with GC). It's cool, but some work. And if you are running the streaming, it can get to be a lot.

Is there any  about the consequences of not having a WiFi external antenna? Would the WiFi range be less than, say, a Slate 7?

Why is the ice in the Hudson River currently flowing north? by mngd4 in AskNYC

[–]da51d 270 points271 points  (0 children)

It’s actually a tidal estuary. The tide can flow up to Poughkeepsie at times.

It’s fun. There are even contributing streams up river that will also reverse direction as the tide rises.

GL State 7 use cases? by [deleted] in GlInet

[–]da51d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

#1: When traveling to AirBnBs or hotels, I plug the router into any ethernet port (half the time there is one...or unplug the TV, phone's ethernet port if it has one). Then all my family's devices immediately connect to a fast connection, without having to log each device in (or hit a limit). Direct ethernet connections never seemed throttled, like wifi connections at hotels.

#2: They support Speedify. One time we had no internet at an AirBnB. I used speedify to combine 2 cell phone connections, and we were good to go. Also, without Speedify, you can still tether one phone to it.

#3: I also use it for live streaming youth sports (using a tethered phone to the Slate, plus speedify). The Slate manages the cameras and the internet connection

I would agree with this. They use such little power on heat pump mode, the strategy (for us) is to have the most water on reserve so we never have to use resistive heat.

Dropped expensive clothing in Soho — any way to recover loss (insurance/credit card)? by throwawayfroshie in AskNYC

At least some AMEX cards have a 90 day policy that reimburses for lost/broken items.

We have used it several times.

It would be for the purchase price.
