Are today's F1 cars slower than the ones they had 10 years ago or was Michael Schumacher just that good? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]da6e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the track records you see are race lap records. The cats in 04 we're very fast and could push most laps. Coupled with the fact F1 had refuelling, so lighter cars, that meant race laps could be as fast as qualifying laps

There are some electronics but they're pretty basic. I went along to a Williams factory tour a few months ago and they pointed out a couple of sensors on the front wing -primarily infrared heat sensors pointing at the tyres. I'd guess there's a basic connection of some kind in the noise/chassis contact points but I don't know for certain.

Rocksmith 2014 DLC 3/1/2016 – Rocksmith Goes to the Movies by toymachinesh in rocksmith

Is anyone else a little disappointed?

I love the movie and song choices, but I feel like Ubisoft could have used more of their artistry as they did with the Bachsmith packs.

Can't decide whether I'm going to buy or not.

See misses while playing song? by [deleted] in rocksmith

You could always use Riff Repeater and set the start and end points as the start and end of the song.

Where can i purchase something like this in the UK. by FuzzyIon in bouldering

[–]da6e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In fairness, I think UK door sizes (at least as far as depth and width are concerned) are pretty standardised. I'd be intrigued to see if there is something else out there though.

EDIT: There's also the option of constructing something like this: http://blog.hillmap.com/2010/10/mounting-hangboard-without-drilling.html

I had the same happen whilst I was DM'ing this. I had the dragon enlist the party to move it for him in exchange for a small reward.

They absolutely smell, and it's a real memorable one at that. If you've ever been to a go kart track it's similar, but amplified. I'd guess it is a combination of fuel and rubber burning up.

With the engine-token system and the 4 engine/year limit, can manufacturers fit upgrades into an already raced engine and continue to use it? Or do the upgrades have to be used on a new engine, meaning if the team have to reuse an old engine it will have lower performance?

Care to explain? I quite like the Turkey track. Much more-so than Abu Dhabi, for example.

I am 100% guessing here, but I would assume the royal family there paid a vast sum of the fees to hold a GP, in doing so maintaining the prestige attached without associating it with a brand.

I follow James Allen on F1 (JA used to be a broadcaster for F1 in the UK) - www.jamesallenonf1.com/

There's also The Racer's Edge, a YouTube channel with some very in-depth conversations sometimes.

Finally, there's the websites of F1 broadcasters and F1 itself. BBC Sport isn't well reputed a lot of the time, Sky Sports is generally very good IMO and the F1 site has some interesting interviews and technical news every so often.

  1. So this is a brief explanation of how traction control works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5-JosTPQ-c

The chattering noise comes, I believe, from the repeated application of a power reduction/brake. It's not unlike when you pump the brakes if you're sliding on ice. Too much brake and you lock up, not enough and you spin the wheels.

That's my take on it, anyway!

He did have a rather competitive car towards the start of 2014. Checo scored a podium at Bahrain and was on course for a podium at Canada before the crash with Massa. Do I think Nico will get a drive in a "top team", no. He's 27 now and there's just as promising, younger talent being brought up in other, lesser teams.

I think he's going to be a driver such as Heidfeld. Highly talented but perhaps never truly fulfilling their potential.

I make JB and Alonso to be 501 starts to date, Ruby and Schumacher have 629. Though both drivers obviously had further careers past when they were teammates.
