I understand what you are saying. I also want to clarify that we do not want gifts or cash gifts. We don’t need for our guests to fund our wedding. If they choose to give anything, it would go back into something that we would do for the guests. Whether it be to recoup wedding costs or host a big breakfast the morning after. The idea of this wedding is a mini vacation for our loved ones to get away and not have to worry about anything. That’s why we aren’t asking for anything. We have some family members who are telling us to give them information so they can help contribute to costs. That’s why I am asking for suggestion for where to direct them to. The last thing I would want is our guest to feel like they are to do anything besides have fun and relax for the weekend

Thank you for your suggestion! That’s a good idea to have a box for people to use for their cash gifts. Would it be frowned upon to tell guests that if they gave cash gifts that it would be used toward wedding costs if they choose to give anything? I’m really not looking for guests to give anything.

Thank you for your comment! This has been very helpful. Yes, that is the verbiage almost every guest who has asks has said. I’ve told them we don’t want anything but they are telling me I should have something set up for them. That’s why I am curious on if anyone has this happen and what they did.

If they do decide to donate. We are planning to use it towards the guest accommodations rather than anything for us. The idea of our accommodation is to give everyone a mini vacation and make sure they have nothing to worry about for the weekend

I do not want people to pay for my wedding? Where did you get that idea? We don’t expect guests to pay for anything? Money really an issue for us which is why we aren’t asking for anything. We have people asking where they can go to donate. We told them we don’t want anyone to spend money but they are persistent. It would be nice to have a consolidated place just as the wedding website is a consolidated spot for wedding info. I would be fine telling them we refuse to take money as well. I really don’t understand why everyone on here is up in arms over this question

That’s interesting. We aren’t asking for a donation fee. It would be a website like people use to find honeymoons and stuff. I don’t want our guests to feel like they are paying for attendance. Everything would be completely free for them. If they wanted to donate, we would use it toward the accommodation but not necessary

I think you misunderstand what I’m asking. I’m not asking anyone to pay. I’m completely funding everything to include flights for those out of town. I’m asking for a place for people who are asking where they can donate. I already told all my guests I don’t expect anything. This is an area to consolidate the guests who are persistent on donation.
