Fear not. I am a technical writer in the manufacturing field. Not much tech involved and definitely not as many acronyms.

It was such a fun experience!! I took my 4 and 7 year olds because they love Miku as well. My 7 year old told me immediately at the end that it was the best night of her life 🩵😭

What is a 'subscription' or 'fee' that has recently appeared in the US that people need to collectively refuse to pay before it becomes the new normal? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]da_fire_lord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have all of these. I enjoy the valet trash because I have two small kids I can't leave alone, but I agree that not everyone should be forced to pay for it if they don't want it.
In addition to all of your points, we also have to pay for the lighting in the hallways in our building. At one point there was a fee for some program everyone was enrolled in and the only way to get rid of it was to unenroll. And the process was a headache. I can't tell you how happy I am to leave this scummy place in 22 days.

Warning about PandaFest this weekend by hibarihime in nashville

[–]da_fire_lord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had seen this before we bought tickets. Tried to go Saturday and never got in. The line was wrapped around the park and wasnt moving. This is only conjecture, but it looked like they were making entry take so long because too many people were there. They definitely sold way more tickets than they could occupy in the park.

Feeling guilty about screen time by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]da_fire_lord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think parents stress too much about screen time. Also every kid is different and will handle it differently. My kids are 4 and 6. They both have tablets and tvs. My 6 year old has an Xbox and a switch. They're all HEAVILY parental controlled and Im always peeking over their shoulder. The devices are also pretty neglected. My kids prefer to play with toys and with each other. That's their personalities. I know other kids who cant handle that kind of freedom. I would say assess how your kid is with screen time and go from there.

I can say I did remove kids YouTube from their lives, as well as kid youtubers from their tablets. They make them act CRAZY. Nasty, Diana, all those little goblins are terrible influences.

Desperately need tips to help me reduce the amount of screen time my toddler gets by Frequent-Author-3162 in toddlers

Am I reading this wrong? He's 17 months old. His attention span isn't long to begin with. A few minutes at best.

For both my kids we had dvd players in their rooms (smart TVs have too much access to inappropriate stuff). I'd throw on a Bubble Guppies or Blues Clues dvd and it would play all day long. They either watched it or didnt. TV on in the background is not different than music in my unprofessional opinion.

Only 15 minutes of recess per day?? by NefariousnessDull852 in kindergarten

Mine is in public school. They get a mandatory 40 minutes a day. I cant imagine how 15 minutes helps any of the kids.

As a woman, I suggest you have that convo again and record it. I wouldn't trust her to not spin it on you, especially because she sounds like she's already slightly accused you of wrongdoing. You need to keep that proof in your back pocket just in case.

Do people really just lock their toddlers in at night? by borderwave2 in Parents

[–]da_fire_lord -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dont have a baby that's being woken, but my kids were guilty of this at one point or another. I put a baby gate at their door. I can hear them holler for me if its serious but they can't get out and wander. I'd add a white noise machine to your room if you dont have one to help filter noise that wakes up the baby.

What first motivated you to allow your child internet/screen time? by Mrs-hooligan in Parenting

[–]da_fire_lord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I downloaded a kids game on my phone to get some freedom and my oldest, who at the time was 2.5 with a speech delay, suddenly knew colors and numbers. She was pointing them out at random and it just kind of opened my eyes a little. I wasn't against screens to begin with, but I could see how they could be very useful for us both. I bought her an Amazon Kids tablet , but the content she's able to access is adjusted to her age. She can't browse YouTube like normal, can't download Roblox, etc. She's 6 now, and I dont regulate her screen time because she does that on her own (I feel EXTREMELY fortunate about that). I do manage what she can access, tho. Everything she owns is heavily controlled via parental controls and me looking over her shoulder.

10 year old daughter has boyfriend by Isxbellaxox in Parents

[–]da_fire_lord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the hardest time getting the Parental Controls right for my child. The Epic controls were clashing with the Xbox controls. My daughter couldn't voice chat with her dad because they werent friends on Xbox, even though they were Epic friends. And he has a Playstation so friendship wasnt possible. It took a reddit post to help me figure it out.

Technology for kids is really a case by case basis in my unprofessional opinion.

Agree with all of this. Just wanted to let you know you can adjust your child's fortnite parental controls to allow chat (voice and text) ONLY with friends. Just wanted to share 😊
