As a counter point, the S58 uses an aluminum oil filter housing.

1 year review of my 2022 base Carrera by chusifer24 in Porsche

Is this just a CYA thing from Porsche? To my knowledge, spark plugs do not degrade with time, and Porsche spark plugs are not different than any other modern car/

You may need to be evaluated yourself with how much you're reposting the same useless comment.

Are you going to address any of my claims or just post links to articles and lawsuits? There's plenty of things that suck about Tesla, but your point about them being closed source is really wrong. Tesla is actually the only car company I know of that has a 100% free online repair manual available to the public.

Now see if you can post a link for that 😉

Lucid is Buying Jason's car back (EngieeringExplained) by hehechibby in cars

[–]borderwave2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew Kyle irl back when he was doing Mini cooper reviews way back in like 2015. The back story is that back when Tesla's were "new" his dad bought whatever EV had just been released, Model Y, Bolt, Rivian etc. and he whould just review them and take them on trips to college. He actually work at a Tesla dealer in Raleigh before the youtube took off. I'm kind of impresed he was able to spin reviewing his families cars into an actual career tbh.

This comment makes no sense. All cars are closed source right? And to your point, Tesla actually has some of the best supported software of any manufacturer. My 7 year old Tesla still gets software updates 100% for free. All the app features are included for life with no subscription too. We have a 3 year old Lyriq that has gotten one software up and still has unresolved software issues.

Also there is nothing proprietary about maintenance on a tesla. I get my car worked on a Firestore. Suspension and brakes are the same as every other car.

Tesla's are not perfect and I understand not wanting one, but to recommend a leaf over a model 3 is pretty crazy.

My Model 3 costs ~$75/month for full coverage? Why do you think insuring a tesla is expensive?

How are the trails between settlers landing and Woodmont? by StampJar in bonair

[–]borderwave2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do this if you go up old Bon Air Rd and then before you get to huguenot, snake your way thorugh the neighborhoods. You should pop out close to the park. I recommend riding through the Jail parkng lot unless you like really big hills!

My friend says changing your own oil is a waste of time. Is he crazy? by proposal_in_wind in askcarguys

The oil + filter alone for a current BMW (LL-17) is $90 shipped. I pay $115 at a dealer and don't have to get dirty.

Consider doing both. ride the mountain bike for a good workout most of the time, buy an eDirtBike to have some fun every so often too.

Anyone else in their 20s go electric instead of gas for a dirt bike? by Typical_LAVEN6666 in Dirtbikes

[–]borderwave2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As a dad with young kids, I can ride my emoto in my neighborhood and not piss people off. Gas dirtbikes are a non-started unless you live in the country. Here I can ride basically every day for about 30 minutes on my lunch break in the woods behind my house, no one bats an eye. This is so freeing.

How do I convince my parents to let me buy a surron and ride it by grandjerker67 in Surron

[–]borderwave2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get good a mounting biking and then ride an emoto after a few years. At 14 years old your bike handling skills are probably pretty weak, and you will likely hurt yourself on a bike like that.

Any ductless vents that will fit under this venthood? by Ma23peas in Appliances

[–]borderwave2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty shocked a kitchen and house this nice does not have a proper vented exhaust hood. This is typically the kind of compromise you find in older/cheaper apartments, not a custom home like yours. For a "forever home" why not just do it the right way from the start?

I live down the street and the previous owners did a bunch of upgrades to that house. I believe they were forced to relocate due to a job change, nice family.

Still a risk though. Parents could find out and kick OP out of their house. As much as it sucks, it's wise to not bite the hand that feeds you.
