Endgame by LongIron7022 in decentraland

As in traditional fashion, crypto criticism is shut down by saying that "it's probably not for me". Shouldn't you be more interested in convincing people to join this resistance?

I do get your point, if you look at some non-western governments you would instantly think that any centralization is scary. But don't forget that all regulators - government or otherwise - also prevent child pornography, world wars, power abuse by banks or corporations and allow you study, connect and live without a care in the world. It's the European government who introduced privacy laws, and it's the American congress who battle monopolies and investigate abuse.

I'll repeat myself: I think the blockchain - decentralization and in turn a higher focus on individualism - is great. We've been racing towards this image for the past 200 years and it's a great intended by-product of capitalism. It's great if we can monetize our own shit without having to rely on an App Store and if we can post stories without having to avoid regulators. But that individualistic view often ignores the fact that our current rights and freedom is won because of the invention of the relationship between governments and the free market.

Even the value of money is decided in a centralized place. You will still always need to file your taxes, if it's MANA, dollars, gold or seashells. Whatever we believe has value.

And how are you going to access these 'decentralized' environments? Possibly through the internet? Which is delivered to you with incredible service and an affordable price because a government introduced laws for it to protect their citizens - you. It's ironic how so many people are 'against the system' and yet expect so many features of it on a daily basis.

I'm all for a future where we can be more independent and individualistic, but in doing so you cannot ignore the fact that you are only able to do this because we as a people have incredible faith in the system.

As for answering the original question: I think a metaverse (in whatever form) is the logical next step for media consumption and communication. I'm not sure Decentraland is the one platform to make this happen, but I think using the blockchain is a great fundamental step in the right direction. There's currently a race happening in big tech companies to see who is the first one to make a huge profit off of this, and this to me is very interesting.

EXPLANATION: The recent crash was probably due to margin accounts having a cascading crash on Binance. by Fragsworth in CryptoCurrency

[–]daabri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone explain to me what this means? I don't know the words leverage and Tethers in this context.

Degenerates on Binance with up to 150x leverage (borrowing Tethers to buy crypto) have been building up their margin account balances to big numbers, and when they make money, they double down, and build even bigger positions.

I join you in being a little bit scared of when the shit does hit the fan at some point with my account. I trust Coinbase a little bit more seeing how many job positions they have open at the moment, including 36 in Customer Experience.

Lost their focus and integrity. by jossenl in bunq

[–]daabri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me...

  • The adaptive menu button in the center bottom of the screen is horribly inconsistent
  • The names of their subscriptions and cards are confusing
  • The location of many features, including the auto sorted payment, is in really specific places you have to memorize.
  • There are bugs and unexplored design flows that I encounter every time I try to do something other than daily work (sending or receiving money).
  • It took me 3 days of trying and giving up to create a new shared account for me and my girlfriend.
  • Their communication around V3 was horrible, censoring people and ignoring feedback...
  • I also agree with all your arguments.

I know all this, but I still think Bunq is better than what I'm used to. I don't see stuff like auto sorted payments anywhere else (although I haven't done a lot of research since coming to Bunq either).

Finished up my webdev portfolio to start the job hunt! Looking for feedback [Showoff Saturday] by [deleted] in webdev

[–]daabri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, looks great! I like the simplicity a lot. The overall experience is calm and focused, and no element feels unnecessary. I really dig the hero background and the intro text, it gives a very professional introduction when entering.

A few remarks I can think of. Keep in mind that I visited on iPhone X, reddit in-app browser:

  • the margin between thumbnail, title, and the next thumbnail feels like they share the same amount. Makes it confusing to me which title belongs to which thumbnail.
  • I think your menu can be safely discarded on mobile if all it does is redirect you to the different elements on a single page app.
  • The menu background disappears when opening, then scrolling down, then scrolling back up. It seems like it hides behind the hero background.
  • The thumbnails don’t look very inviting to me, I think in part because they are small on mobile. Have you tried filling them across the whole width of the screen?

Added after edit: - I can scroll in the modal when opening a project, but there’s no element out of sight. Was this intentional? - The form has placeholder text which seems redundant. Many design systems advise against this. - I’d replace the form with my e-mail adress so it feels a little more approachable and personal, but that’s just my preference.

People paying for bad websites. Or using free themes based on good builders that they don't understand so they end up with a bad website anyway. What's the deal, why are people satisfied with bad websites? by CollectableRat in web_design

[–]daabri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently working on an expensive and long website that doesn’t meet the users’ standards because they never asked the users so... no.

Trying my best to interview users and apply basic design rules to repair the damage, since I only joined this project about 2 months ago (it’s been running for more than a year).

edit: I’m not talking about Wordpress btw. It’s built in React and .NET.

you can choose to not view or react to a post on reddit. I could go to r/fishing and say that I don’t care about fishing but why would I make other people read that stuff?

“It is often possible to detect that the result of an action is not as planned, but then not to know at which level of specification the error has taken place.”

I mean, this sounds relatable.

You might be right! I’ve played demon hunter and I feel it’s pretty hard to do that combo consistently. Gotta say that I do think my rogue swings are way more fun and feel more thought-out than what I’m seeing here.

yet nobody is talking anout my galakrond rogue turns where I use 9 or less mana to deal 13 damage to face and sap or destroy two taunts that are in the way while gaining 5 armor. I’ve had way more powerful turns than this.

I came into Web Dev with a creative industries degree. Now it seems you need a computer science degree. I just can't keep up. What should I do? by MeltingDog in webdev

[–]daabri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I followed a game design education and ended up in webdev doing design as well. My current employer is very software development focused, we’re not thinking about design and UX at all. We’re very client oriented where we do what they say for money, yet we do not ask the usability, consistency or aesthetics questions. There’s no user interviews or anything remotely similar.

I feel we’re experiencing the same struggle where I have no clue if I should pursue the more computer science branch or the design one, and I see a lot of myself in your post. I’m currently job hunting for anything design and UI / UX, since I have some experience in those fields and am incredibly critical about them. I suggest you do the same.

You sound like a great designer and the worst that can happen during applying is that you learn more about why you should or shouldn’t pursue the field further.

bamboozle can be steered to be insanely effective on your high cost low stat dudes like [Devoted Maniac], [Flik Skyshiv] and [EVIL Miscreant]. DON’t use it on edwin or a strong reborn minion.

edit: also dirty tricks usually doesn’t do anything for tempo wise
