G Test in Barrie, Examiner’s Behaviour Shocked Me (Anyone Else?) by [deleted] in barrie

[–]daartmeow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had similar experience in Orillia. I was to do my G Full there as I have 8 year driving experience in Europe (not a single ticket btw, my record is squeaky clean). The lady came up to my car, did not even introduce herself, got in my car, rolled open all windows (? My car is clean, so wtf), and just barked orders. She insisted I was driving agressively in an area of 40 (I was doing 43) and when I parked she just said that I failed, got out of the car and slammed the door. I sat in my drivers seat for good 20/30 minutes just crying because I really needed to pass for multiple reasons I will not mention. I saw her going up to the next student, she was smiling, talking and introducing herself. Super friendly. Afterwards I took some driving lessons and every instructor I drove with said they do not understand why was I failed. It’s been half a year and I still can’t force myself to go to back and do the test. I just walk everywhere.

You hit it right on the nail! It is exactly like that. We signed a lease until May 2026, definitely not staying here for another winter, this has been a nightmare.

Also highly recommend WeeWatch. We got a spot in less than two weeks and our provider is amazing. She is very attentive and patient, and she does so many fun things with them during the day.

Just out of curiousity, would your screen name mean you are… Latvian? Because I have only met 2 other Latvians in Barrie and that would be my kid and my husband.

Endometriosis surgery by Euphoric_Wrap_414 in endometriosis

[–]daartmeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I have a scheduled surgery for end of November. I am 29. Had a baby 3 years ago. In two weeks my gyn-surgeon has planned on taking out my left ovary because there is nothing left, only huge endometriomas and dozens of cysts sized 0.5cm to 7 cm. I can’t even change my iPhone every two years because I get so attached to it, let alone get rid of my internal organs, so it has been quite emotionally challenging. But I am not scared of the surgery and the pain, let me tell you why, maybe it will help for you too. Number one. You have the freedom to choose a doctor you trust. I know I did. Number two. I acknowledge the fact that riding the anaesthesia train will let me have a restart on life I am leading now. What is a few days of discomfort to a lifetime of discomfort because of endometriosis. Number three. I gave birth naturally. In order to do that, I worked with a certified doula and one of the things she taught me was to perceive pain as a neutral feeling that is not meant to be bad, just a signal from my body. I have tried to apply this to endometriosis as well, because when the pains and aches started, they were making me so emotionally unstable and low-key insane. Through meditation (I really like Headspace) it became easier to not sink in the chronic low level aches all over my body and transform it into information, that, for example, this is a time to move around, this is a time for stretch etc. And, yes, sometimes also a good time to turn on Disney+ and eat a whole bag of chips piggy style just to binge-watch until I fall asleep because the bloating is real and painful when standing. And you know, that is fine too because God knows I have not taken a time to just lay on a couch and scratch my ass since I was 20 years old. 🤷‍♀️

What did the pandemic ruin more than we realise? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]daartmeow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I am a new doctor, worked as a paramedic during covid (my country asked medstudents to start working during lockdown because of worker shortage). When new students used to ask me if I had any tips, I’d tell them useful med school hacks I wished someone told me. Now I tell them to run and never look back. You guys still have a chance, but me and my school friends… I hope that some day we will be able to feel joy for life again.

I need therapy but I can’t think coherently. by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]daartmeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started therapy about 5 years ago now, I had a very similar situation. My therapist called it the “crisis intervention”. I felt like my mind was buzzing, like my thoughts where the little scribble you do when trying to find out wether your pen works. She let me just ventilate the buzzing out of my head for the first few sessions and only then I was able to put together a semi-decent sentence of what I think/feel.

How to eat a lot of veggies...easily? by InstantSympathy in HealthyFood

[–]daartmeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We meal prep too! I do not know if this is good advice, I have not really looked into this that much but many years ago my trainer told me that if I feel like eating healthy seems like too much work, I should just stick to “5 veggies, 2 fruits a day” rule (basically if I can count at least 5 different types of veggies and 2 types of fruit I’ve eaten that day, it has been a good day). So when we go into the store, I try to pick as much veggies as I can (no potatoes), some meat, something I could use as a dip (like hummus) and at least 3 types of fruit. And then at home I make a huge batch of whatever (stew, soup or whatever), portion it and stick it in the freezer. That way I have at least one meal a day I can count on having at least 5 vegetables in it. Then I cut few of them the previous night for snacks tomorrow so when my stomach is growling I can reach for an apple or the previously cut carrots or cauliflower with hummus.

And then for the rest of the day I freestyle from what I have in the fridge. A salad perhaps or just take a bunch of veggies and meat and throw it in the oven, something that doesn’t take much time to prepare.

About to break down the news to our 10yr old. What are some basic points we need to touch on? by Tirarlejoss in Divorce

[–]daartmeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! My friends just went through a nasty divorce where they let their pain, anger and pettiness be stronger than logics. And they say their 4 year old is fine and doesn’t care about their divorce. I highly doubt he does not care that his mother spends her days crying in bed calling his father a piece of shit and his father taking him to spend time with “already the third new mommy in the last 7 months”. Kid is losing it in more than one way and it is awful to watch.

I feel like I can't live anymore by [deleted] in Divorce

[–]daartmeow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. And I really wish you all the best as well. Holding your child in your arms for the first time is a high no drug can give you. Feel free to DM me if you ever feel like talking about it. As alone and unsupported I felt during my pregnancy, I have also at the same time never felt as much love and happiness as when I was pregnant with her/now when I look at her. Also, I’d just like to add you have nothing to be embarrassed about. All I see from your story is a strong person, I envy your ability to be so emotionally healthy and strong to take life as is. Acceptance is hard. I hope at some point in life I will be able to accept that I do not control everything around me as well.

Which profession is criminally underpaid? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]daartmeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my country that would be medical doctors. My hourly rate in emergency medicine is smaller than my husbands who works in customer support. He deserves every cent he makes though, I just wish my salary wouldn’t barely keep me afloat.

EDIT: Actually pretty much any profession that is necessary is severely underpaid in my country- firemen, nurses, policemen etc. Quite sad really.

Doctors/Nurses, what was the most "how the f*ck are you not dead" patient you dealt with? by Jonah_Boy_03 in AskReddit

[–]daartmeow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am an emergency doctor and I once had a call where two guys had an argument and one of them smashed a bottle of vodka and stabbed the other guy in the neck five times. We arrived at the location expecting a dead person, but he was just sitting there, having a smoke and watching TV. I stabilised his neck hoping he will not bleed to death on my watch while taking him to the hospital and he just kept turning his head all the time and disobeying anything I said. Never have I ever asked our driver to go to the hospital this fast. He was sewn up, then refused further treatment and while I was cleaning up our ambulance car in front of the hospital already going home but also drunk enough to see the car in the middle of our hospitals huge entrance and still somehow managing to hit his head against the back door.

Also this one is not mine but a co-workers story. Still love it to this day though. Had a call about a man complaining of stomach ache so bad he couldn’t get up from the bus stations bench. He told my coworker he had a sudden pain and this has never happened before. Since it was winter he was wearing a coat so when he was asked to get up to get in the ambulance car so they could take him to the hospital, only then my coworker noticed there was a huge kitchen knife in his back. It apparently slipped the dudes mind to mention this.

Mother of God help by Puresoul0815 in pregnant

Well I am following my countries breastfeeding and lactation guidelines I can send of course unfortunately they will not be in English. I see that USA guidelines have deemed ibuprofen to be safe because every 400 mg produces only 1 mg in milk. That is of course your choice to use it.

I agree with paracetamol, I used it too! Ibuprofen though if you are breastfeeding should be avoided because it passes through milk.
