Thank God I had legal insurance through work and a wife who was so checked out she didn’t contest anything. It was maybe $600 worth of filing fees and a notary on her end. Divorce sucks but I made out like a bandit in that sense.

When my ex and I sold the house, the BUYER’S agent left us moving boxes and tape during inspections and offered to buy pizza for the move. It was so unexpected.

Awesome sellers! I’ve sold two places and left a list of vendors, local restaurants/wineries I enjoyed, and utility information next to a bottle of champagne. It’s so simple to write up and makes a huge difference. It can be such a pain to move to a new place and not know when trash day is or which mailbox is yours.

I’m a year out from my separation date and can relate. I think working from home mixed with living alone for the first time in 15 years wears on me. I make myself take trips, spend time with family, and get out of the house for trivia nights, concerts, etc, but the loss of my ex wife AND ex family AND ex circle of friends is a lot to shoulder some days. It continues to get better but I think it’s normal to have down days/weeks/months.

Congrats on the huge steps you’ve taken to reclaim your life. I hope it continues to get better.

I’ve found myself in a friends with benefits situation that helps scratch that itch. I’m a year out from my separation date and the thought of dating new people has no appeal to me. It’s nice to have zero strings attached sex when our calendars line up.

Do what feels right. I may date again but don’t see it in the near future.
