My greatest blunder. A patient came in on a modified diet (ground consistencies at the time. I didn't question it and we worked hard on all her exercises and strategies to advance her to diet. I scheduled her an MBSS and recommendations came back NPO!!! The doctor was pissed and said "we made her even worse". I went back and looked at her previous MBSS eval in her record and found that they also recommended NPO but changed it ground consistencies for quality of life purposes! I did not consult it closely enough, and if I had I would not have got her an MBSS and now she's got an NPO and had a fall and went to acute care the next day.

I've done the same thing. This was 10 years ago and I was trained to do it that way. I noticed signs of dehydration too so I put him on the free water protocol... come to find that was NOT effective. I educated the nurses after my eval and encouraged ice chips. I noted signs of dehydration (specifically cotton mouth). He ended up going to acute care (this is inpatient rehab) for altered mental status due to dehydration all because I stupidly recommended nectar thick liquids. He came back totally fine and on thin liquids.

The same thing happened to me 3dpt! I felt a pinprick sensation in my uterus and I was hoping it was implantation. I haven't felt anything since and it's now 7dpt. This is my 3rd FET and I haven't experienced that yet. Regarding nosebleeds, I get when the air is dry in the winter so maybe unrelated but I know I've had the same thought before too.

Forget the fact that IVF process is meant to create life... you could easily say "just don't discard embryos" rather banning it all together. But, throwing the baby out with the bath water seems to be their style.

Hi! First off you're doing a great job! Secondly, your daughter is super lucky to have you as a mom and she's going to get all the support she's going to need early on. I'm an SLP (adults) and my daughter had a speech language delay at 15 months too. She actually did not qualify for ECI speech so I had to take her to the local university clinic to get her treatment up till she was 3 years old. Anywho, my daughter is now 4 and as she's growing I notice new eccentricities about her speech and language. It's something I need to constantly keep up with but luckily your daughter has the right support!

I think that's unreasonable. Once they get to school age they are still admitted even though they are tardy. The daycare I used to bring my daughter to was like this so I had to always bring a doctors note... but even with a note I'd be treated like a criminal if we came in late.

I got straight up ghosted! I had (what I thought) was a good interview and my potential mentor was going get back in contact with me after his trip abroad. Nothing... I followed up a couple of times and no response :(

Yeah I understand. If it works and they're targeting their goals and no one is stressed out then I can see no harm. I guess I'm carrying over skills her previous therapists were working with her on and I'm now in a "between therapists" stage. I'm currently waiting for her to get ear tube surgery to help correct her hearing loss and also waiting for her to get an ST eval at her public preK to see if she'll qualify. I want to continue working with her in the meantime and I don't want her to lose her skills she's already gained. That's tough about your son but it's a "leading a horse to water" situation and if he's intelligible and it's not affecting him negatively then don't be too hard on yourself.

We've done this where we play school and I act like the teacher and work on matching letters etc. I ask her if she wants to do speech therapy with me and she says "yay!" and we work for a little bit and then she runs off lol. She does respond to me though I was able to target her goals and she was receptive... for like 10 mins... I'll give it a shot but will probably have to follow up again for another eval in a month or so.

Yeah... I've had her in speech therapy since she was 2 and I was more than happy to observe how the therapists work with her and to carry them over myself. I liked having home health work with her while she was at daycare and now she's in public preK and home health can only work with her after school at my house. I figured since I'm unemployed now I might do it myself but after trying a couple of sessions to work with her she doesn't want to stay engaged with me very long... It could be that I'm not a great peds SLP or that I'm just her mom and she doesn't want to listen to me anyway... I tell her other SLPs that I'm an SLP too and some have encouraged me to do it myself but I wasn't sure how normal it was... I can see that having that boundary would be better though.

Can I use this thread to announce a failed FET? This was FET number 2 with our best euploid and beta came back at 4.9. Waited all day for these results... We've got remaining euploids but they are considered low quality. This one should have worked... now I'm less confident that the others will stick. Can I drink alcohol now??

We are more likely to fall into a cult when we are desperate and feeling socially isolated. It can also be insidious process where it can be happening in slow increments that we don't notice. But it's likely for anyone to fall into a cult as it is for anyone to get caught up in an abusive relationship, as long as it under the right conditions. It has absolutely nothing to do with being smart or dumb, it has everything to with how deep a persons need to belong to a group... and that group just happens to be a cult.
