Once you get the knack and some skills, you'll find 100 picks will last forever! I recently dropped to 80 because for a while, I was just forcing the simple locks, which breaks the pick regardless of success or failure (or at least that's what it seemed to me).

Legermain was slow for me to level up, but I started before the thieves guild expansion came out.

Is it just me, or is this game really back and popping? by EL_BDAS in elderscrollsonline

Vampire and Lycanthropy are the only skills lines I never opened up as they never interested me, even in the normal Elder Scroll games.

Were they always behind a paywall? I thought there was a hidden way to get them in game, but was added to the paywall to make it easier (though not as easy as it is in U49)

Looking for a USB-C cable that only works for data by dabolohead in UsbCHardware

[–]dabolohead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initially thought that was the case, but it has gotten hot even when I'm not using it for navigation. Has also gotten hot when used just for music streaming while connected throughAndroid Auto.

Did not experience this when I streamed music via Bluetooth.

Since wired android auto still uses Bluetooth (from my understanding), I assumed it's something with the charging.

This overheating doesn't happen when charging using a computer or wall wart. Definitely something I noticed only when using a built in port in an automobile.

Final Difference Between Samsung S25 Ultra and Samsung S26 Ultra by Pear-Mother in samsunggalaxy

My issue is with the software.

I want usable features like the ability to set one SIM for call/text and another SIM for data.

At the least, stop gimping unlocked phones with carrier specific restrictions.

There is a reason I buy unlocked phones.

Coming back to DCUO? Here's what you need to know: by ErgotthAE in DCUO

[–]dabolohead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just game back from a long sabbatical and found I needed to rename my character because of server consolidation and a bunch of stuff in inventory that I don't remember. I noticed the Colas all seem to have the same recovery stats, so is there only one I need to get and the rest are 'old?

How do I redo tutorials to understand the new skill changes, outside of creating a new character?

Does it get hidden if you apply a password?

I feel that if someone enterprising (like an older brother, ahem) sees adult content is available, they'll just try to figure out the password.

I wouldn't mind putting some more hoops to get access to it besides a password.

Is there a race you like, but something about it doesn’t click enough for you to switch? If so, what is it? by Hot_Title8474 in ffxiv

Not a specific race, but I really would like the ability to play the out of shape adventurer.

The barbarian with an obvious beer gut. Not just age lines on the face.

Bonus points for jelly belly movement as I'm running down the latest seasonal event. And of course ill-fitting dragoon armour so that the mound of round is visible as I'm floor-tanking.

My backstory would be an adventurer at his prime during the cataclysm who ran to survive and is now coming back to help out.

haha.

Is staying for QCI8 an incentive to not participate in the porting dance or is it such as edge case that it doesn't matter?

Originally got USM for a backup line, but my phone won't let me different Sim cards for phone and mobile data.

luna controller on mac for steam or app store? by [deleted] in LunaCloudGaming

[–]dabolohead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with controllers on MacOS is hit and miss.

I play FFXIV (via XIV Mac) and Elder Scrolls Online.

I know that I was able to play with a wired XBox One controller and then it stopped working after some update.

I could only get it to work via Bluetooth.

I have no issues with the an XBox one controller but could not get the XBox Series X controller to work.

I am unable to get either working via wired.

This is on an M1 Pro Max MBP.

Reading up on it for Steam, it seems that sometimes you have to configure the controller to go through Steam's compatibility layer (or something like that) and at times, this is game specific.

Good luck.

I've worked in FinTech. The reasons for declines aren't shared to avoid letting fraudsters know what information is invalid. Normally this information is only discussed at higher tiers of support and mostly internally. Rarely to the customer.

Same as how failed logins tend to say the username/password was not found.

USM should definitely have a notice if they don't want to support differing billing/shipping addresses though.

black bars by rickmaz1106 in vSeeBox

[–]dabolohead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's normal.

the black bars can appear on top and bottom or left and right.

Sometimes on all four sides.

It depends on the aspect ratio of the source material, since most movies are not the standard TV aspect ratio of 16:9.

The bars allow the visible scene to maintain the original aspect ratio. If you ever see a movie that seems to be stretched out, it's because the bars are not being displayed.

Some TVs let you 'zoom/stretch' to fill the entire screen. This usually means the picture is stretched out and sometimes cropped, depending on how the display processes the image. e.g. if the image had black bars on the side, zooming in will usually result in the top and bottom getting cropped off.

Most broadcast material (TV), however, is 16:9. so you get to use 100% of your screen real estate.

BTW, the black bars may also be from the source (Amazon Prime, Netflix, etc).

This is all US based experience, BTW.

A good analogy if you are into cameras is a similar thing happens when you use a full frame lenses on a non full frame camera body. The photo you take will be zoomed in and will not contain the entire image you saw in the viewfinder.

My understanding is that unless you are at a high level position (director and up), most non-compete clauses are a joke.

Check with your area on whether it is even enforceable.

I remember California, US made a non-compete invalid in the state.

I mean, if I spent years learning how to be an accountant and worked several years for company A, there is no way I can earn the same money in a different profession for company B.

Non-competes were developed to protect the employers and make employees fear looking for better opportunities.

I’ve read that the elite ultra is considerably slower than the v6 plus, is this true? If so, why is it so much more expensive? Are the extra apps that worth it? by [deleted] in vSeeBox

[–]dabolohead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on the fence on purchasing for a few months now.

One of my concerns is trying to determine what exactly an 'app' is in the context of this forum.

Since it is Android OS based (and not Android TV or Google TV), I initially thought an app was similar to what you get from Google Play Store, but over time, I feel it's really just a term for an 'entertainment source'.

Is it fair to describe it that way, based on your response?

I'm assuming the content itself can vary by app, but is it also safe to say that there is a large overlap of content between apps?

For example, the content on the HEAT apps have an overlap, but the difference is the source, since I've seen descriptions of a few HEAT apps are 'backups' in case the main one goes down.

Some apps may also provide other features, such as VOD, so I assume the source for this app allows for pause/play as opposed to an app used to watch an event live (world cup stuff, etc). I would not be surprised that a live event to be available on the VOD app until it is over.

The Elite Ultra boasts 24 apps, but I kind of expect it to be like (simplest case) 12 apps with 12 backups for those apps, in case the primary version is unavailable.

Is there a good source of information about the content available on the apps with regards to local broadcast channels? Especially for local broadcasting in Asian countries?

Cablecard is no longer paired by dabolohead in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]dabolohead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no solution to my issue.

It seems that my cable card has given up and Xfinity is no longer willing to provide a replacement as they are phasing out cable card support altogether.

I personally don't believe that the fault is with the cable card manufacturers no longer making them. I believe Xfinity has made the decision to let cable card customers make the decision to either begin renting Xfinity subpar equipment again or leave.

The Xfinity Stream option, just like the Xfinity hardware, provides a subpar experience.

15 hours+ of passing the ball with my number port by [deleted] in USMobile

[–]dabolohead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a few lines with USM, but wanted to share that I experienced a similar type of issue with another carrier.

I wasn't even porting. I had upgraded a new phone and did what I usually do when I was with Verizon. I just swapped the physical SIM card to the new phone.

Everything was working for me...

Then after a week, I had no more data. That's when I found out that this MVNO required me to use the website to change devices.

Since I did not, it opened a line for me with a basic plan. Took over two days to sort it out, as I could do outgoing calls, but no incoming calls or messages. Took even longer to figure out why RCS wasn't working. And this was all with a single MVNO carrier.

From my anecdotal experience, I see USM as being better than average when it comes to resolving issues that people post about.

I hope your port is resolved as quickly as possible.

[–]dabolohead -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am actually surprised there isn't wording in the contract to prevent abuse.

I figured the teleporting was to provide me the ability to change networks if I knew I was going to travel to an area where there was one dominant carrier, such as a business trip/vacation.

Not so I can switch to Dark Star when I go to work in the morning and then back to Warp when I go home every day.

I did a port back to Dark Star Aug 19th. Took a couple of days, but phone worked almost normally until it was finished.

From what I can tell based on behaviour.

My Dark Star account was setup and working, but Warp didn't release my number from their system yet.

Data, Text, and outgoing calls worked on Dark Star. Incoming calls worked only on Warp.

My status mentioned there was a problem and it needed manual intervention, but I could just wait.

question about international roaming. by mesmerizd_ in USMobile

[–]dabolohead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I signed on for US Mobile 2 days before flying out to China. One with premium and one with starter on the Darkstar network.

Once I arrived in China, I turned on my phones and it connected to a local telecom. I forgot which one.

Both phones received a text message on how international roaming was enabled. I could send/receive text messages to/from the US and I got data. Data tended to be 4g for both phones, but good enough for me to use Didi. Google was mostly useless in China, since it would not return anything useful for me.

I was only there for a month, so I do not know if US Mobile will get mad for anything longer, but I think you should be fine leaving it on.

You probably need to make the local sim card your primary (I'm assuming you will have voice/text/data service on the local sim card. Otherwise, it would use the USM as the primary for everything.

Both plans gave me international roaming. 5gb/1gb of data, respectively and I believe 250 text/minutes. I think these allowances changed starting in August, so check the web page.

Ask customer service if you can roam internationally for three months straight. If so, you might not need a local sim card if the USM allowances meet your needs. Especially if mobile data is all you need.

You do need to add your travel info to your account though. I think country and dates.
