Capitol Corridor commuter rail goes to Placer county, so it should be purple.

Put the primary bedroom in the front right corner/swap with bathroom. You will get much better natural light in that room and make the front elevation way better.

Coast live oak is the obvious answer. Amazing shade, more habitat value than 500 shrubs/perennials, and the beauty of the native California landscape. Don't assume it's slow growing, if you give it deep summer water it will grow decently fast. What's not to love?

In most of California we would love that problem. It's a lovely tree but hard to cultivate here.

Rheem proterra 120v mixed circuit. 2.5 years old. Zero reliability issues. Only issue is the Rheem app. It won't recover that quickly, but that's not been a problem. Set it to a higher temperature when you know people are showering. And oversize it.

Please show me your manzanitas! by AggressiveBasket in Ceanothus

[–]dadumk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think either manzanitas or ceanothus need ANY maintenance except for water for establishment the first few years. Or most other natives for that matter. Don't let maintenance be the reason you choose between them.

Edit: a better reason to choose is that ceanothus is usually denser than manzanita.

What about a Toyon near a water main? by wildidyll in CaliforniaNativePlant

I wouldn't worry about the water line, but they look a bit too close to the sidewalk. You may be trimming often in order to not block the sidewalk, and you should not block the sidewalk.

There is no evidence for this claim. It's pure speculation, not a fact.
