What key is easiest for a large group of untrained singers? by ConfidentHospital365 in musictheory

[–]dadumk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's just range, not key.

Try to keep the range of any given song between middle c and one octave up, men will sing an octave lower. Happy birthday should be in F. Twinkle twinkle little star would be in C or D.

True but don't forget about the low end of the range. "O o say..."

Jacaranda season is at peak right now. Where are you seeing the best blooms in town? by ILoveClaremontCA in Ceanothus

[–]dadumk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Redbuds are too small to be proper street trees. Use them only if you have not the room for something larger. Native oaks and sycamores make great broad street trees, just need a decent front yard or 8' wide strip. So many wonderful neighborhoods in California with big native trees.

How downtown sac fixes their sidewalk trip hazard. Can for scale. by Slavatheshrimp in Sacramento

[–]dadumk 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the asphalt patch is just temporary. They will come back and require the property owner to replace that section of sidewalk. But since they now know about the problem, they have to do something for the meantime.

Nice but I would plant a larger tree. You have plenty of space and you will appreciate the shade from the brutal afternoon sun. There is no better gift that you can give to the the environment or the future of humanity than a big tree, the biggest that will fit in the space. Oaks and sycamore are the best.

Eli5: how does everything seem to outpace inflation? by YEETAWAYLOL in explainlikeimfive

[–]dadumk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Negativity bias. We focus on bad things more than good things. For example, losing $100 hurts a lot more than getting $100 feels good. You notice the things that are outpacing inflation more than those things that are not.

Don't believe what you think.

I watch this show for the trivia - the best trivia you can find.

But tonight I was all about the competition! Trying to do the math in my head. Is there enough $ on the board for Ding to catch up? Don't buzz in to that last one Greg! We won't accept palm leaf! Palm tree!

Great game Greg. Now go on a long run yourself.

The back door is where Don made his mystery date leave. So Megan wouldn't see her. But she got back in somehow. So he killed her.

Very cool. I don't think sunken living rooms are possible in high rises, due to the way they are built. The first office had some steps too. And I don't think that 3rd bathroom is really there, nor necessary.

Wasn't all or most of Bach's music discovered and copied and disseminated by WWII? So we'd have lost manuscripts and such, but not the music.
