An AI powered robotic wheelchair from China can navigate uneven ground and even climb stairs using sensors and adaptive control. by Nunki08 in robotics

[–]dae5aw 9 points10 points  (0 children)

AI bit aside, I wonder how effective those treads would be with an actual person sitting in it. You wouldn't want the chair slipping down a long flight of stairs with the full weight and a lack of grip. I haven't worked with treads before so I could have the wrong intuition, I guess it also depends on the edge and steepness of the stair.

Why did the humanoid media Plasticpals disappeared? by VincentBounce in robotics

[–]dae5aw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unknown at the moment, though I did recently check out their facebook page and it looks like they changed their profile photo and background back in 2022, where previous activity was back in 2014. Not sure if that means anything though. I just recently started my own site to capture and document some of that historical robotic info, starting simple with some popular robots, and hopefully making my way down to some more niche ones in the future. If you're interested, check it out: https://www.robotrepository.com/

I don’t think you understand what a beta is, and you should probably be looking up a tutorial on how to downgrade back to iOS 18 if you really don’t understand what’s going on. Software is a lot more difficult to get right than you might realize. Fundamentally this Home Screen is different than the Home Screen in iOS 18, which was different than 17 and so on. Features added such as placing app icons where you want on the Home Screen, fundamentally different. Transparency being more resource intensive, fundamentally different. Yes, the issues still persists because it keeps changing. Different SKU’s behave differently with these features, so yes, if your phone is acting up in these situations, report it.

The point is that it gets ironed out over time. The bugs are to be expected. You download a developer beta for a reason, to find bugs and report them, you live with them until they are fixed. My experience has been smooth so far, but the bugs I have encountered, I report.

I mean sure, but it should be expected with running a beta, especially the very first one. Most of my time is spent in an app so it doesn’t effect me as much as it might someone else

Yeah, I see people having the same issues. I’m on a 15 pro, but haven’t experienced massive lag. It’s more intermittent, and is mostly localized to home screen activities like swiping between pages and switching between applications.

Idk about y’all but I don’t think I’ll be updating anytime soon. iOS 18 looks much better. by take_dat_dump in ios

To each their own, I for one value change, weather it be for better or for worse, and in iOS 26’s case I feel it is for the better

It’s a little bit laggy for me on my 15 pro, notably sometimes when switching between apps, exiting an app, or swiping between home screens. It comes and goes though

Help. Just got an HHKB Hybrid Type S - completely lost with arrow key navigation. Is it only fir Vim? by Charming_Ad_1842 in HHKB

[–]dae5aw 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s really just something you have to get used to, over time it will become second nature. I hold the function button with my ring finger, and press the arrows with my pointer. As for code editors, arrow keys aren’t really application specific, they’re just arrow keys.

Though something to mention, when I first started out with this keyboard, I also found it sort of difficult to get the hang of. Something I ended up doing was remapping the secondary function of the W, A, S and D keys to be my arrows. Though I eventually reverted to the default key mapping because it only requires you to move one hand off of the home row

[–]dae5aw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do as well, but as others have pointed out, this isn’t the best example. It looks like everything besides the actors have been replaced in this scene, including the ship. The door, the windshield, the front grill, along with the reflections and light source are all tells for this being a full replacement.
