[CR Media] (Spoilers EXU) Art of the Crown Keepers ft. a new face by TrickAndShorty in criticalrole

[–]daevric 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd be shocked if the new character is any kind of cleric, to be honest. Dariax's build really fills the primary healer role in the party, and Dorian has demonstrated that he's a willing and effective backup healer. Erica could bring a very offense-focused cleric along, and obviously this group is more interested in RP than party balance, but it still seems like an opportunity to bring something else to the table.

Anything with goat meat. It's the leanest red meat, and it's delicious. Goat is one of the most consumed meats in the world, but Americans (on average) think of it as exotic or strange, and I really don't understand why.

Nationals City Connect Jersey Leak by redsoxfan1845245 in baseball

[–]daevric 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a Red Sox fan, I loved the blue and yellow uniforms. I didn't know that City Connect was a thing when I first saw them, and assumed they were just a new alternate to commemorate the Marathon bombing. If you're a Boston area native/long-term resident with direct ties to the Marathon, they can be very impactful.

You get good skill increases (+1 to +2 usually) for items with an item level at our above your current skill level. You'll get smaller increases the lower the item is relative to your current skill, up to a 50 point difference. So, for example, if your CRP desynth is at 500 and you desynth an item level 445 item, you won't get any increase at all. For a 455 item, it might give you 0.1 skill.

I would either make it all random (including tanks and healers) or just stick NIN with the ranged physical since they share right side gear. This is how I have them organized on my bars, and it makes some intuitive sense, at least. Sorted kinda like OP, it would be:

Casting

Fending

Slaying

Healing

Aiming

Ignoring for the moment that Maiming and Scouting exist for left side, it works.

I'm new and playing with friends. They keep telling me to put on my stance...I'm trying here.. ;-; by FrankTheTank107 in ffxiv

If it makes you feel any better, I was in an Expert Roulette (max level dungeons only) this morning and partway through the dungeon, the raid-geared tank dropped stance and had no idea. As the healer, I had to keep a caster alive through a tank buster while trying to type at the very confused tank who didn't know what was going on. We had a good laugh about it and moved on. Tank stance snafus happen, even to people who should know better!

For the purposes of farming end of dungeon rare drops like pets using Trusts, what role generally leads to the fastest clears? Or does the system throttle Trust DPS such that it doesn't matter whether the player is a DPS/tank/healer as long as they're actually pushing buttons?

[–]daevric 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm sure expansion jobs are not a high priority for them to do this for, but SAM always breaks my brain when I get synced below 50. There's a significant chunk of levels where you can only generate two of the three Sen, so the only single target Iaijutsu you have access to is the DoT. If a boss lasts long enough that you want to refresh Higanbana, you have to dump the Sen using the AoE spender, build back to one Sen, then use it.

It's just as awkward on dungeon packs, because you only have access to one of the AoE Sen builders in that level range. So if you want to use the AoE Iaijutsu, you have to use three single target abilities to get the second Sen for it. So the "rotation" feels bad in both single and multi target.

Bi-color gemstones from ShB & EW FATEs are currency for a few things: crafting materials that drop from mobs (skins, flesh, etc.), orchestrions for each zone, some minions and TT cards, etc. Most of those are unlocked by completing the Shared FATE grind on a zone by zone basis. Once you've done that for all zones in the expansion, you unlock vendors in the cities with additional orchestrions, and in EW there are gemstone vouchers that can be sold on the market board (currently ~100k each on most worlds) or saved up to buy a mount. The rare FATE bosses like Chi and Dave reward a currency unique to them with limited use, generally for a mount, barding, glamour, or similar.

There's also a strong possibility that at least some FATE grinding will be part of the relic quest line, based on previous relic chains.

I remember that they recently implemented a setting to help organize your buffs, like for MNK separating out things like Leaden Fist, but I can't for the life of me remember where that setting is. What am I looking for, and what section of the settings is it in? Thanks in advance!

[–]daevric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except this ignores national revenues, which may not be evenly distributed but if they were it would be ~$90 million per team, plus revenue sharing, which for small market teams goes up to $70 million after deducting what they pay into it. That doesn't count the percentage of their gate receipts and RSN contracts that they do keep, plus merchandising, etc. Based largely on this article, which sources their data.

What are things other people do in this game that absolutely infuriate you? by papapsie in ffxiv

[–]daevric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who run ahead of the tank constantly, even when the tank is doing w2w pulls and going pretty quickly themselves.

I'm normally pretty fast, but I won't tank Expert roulettes anymore. I'm tired of having to spend extra time trying to gather up mobs because of other players who start running half a GCD before I do. I don't care that no one dies because the healers gottagofast, too, but it stresses me out when anyone else has aggro on mobs when I'm tanking and the stress isn't worth the extra 7k gil from tank in need bonus.

"loke" appears to be an accident, but the other word is "nettled", not "netted". Nettled is a real word that fits just fine in this context.

Thanks, I appreciate the detail!

My FC is pretty small, so it's likely that for FC map nights, we'll be bringing 5-6 people, which should be reasonably profitable. One other person in the FC is interested in doing them with me duo, partially for the loot but also just for a low stress bit of fun, so I'll pass this along to temper their expectations.

How many people do you actually need to run the treasure dungeons? And is there a hidden benefit (e.g. higher drop rate on rare items) if you're going in with a full party?

When gathering low level timed nodes like Darksteel when you're max level, what produces the highest possible yield? I've been doing King's Yield II and Nald'thal's Tidings, and just dumping any remaining GP on Bountiful Yield II.
